Day 2: Singing at Midnight
Picture this: two men, beaten and bloodied, sitting in the deepest part of a Roman prison with their feet locked in stocks. It is midnight. Every reason to despair is present. And yet, Paul and Silas are singing. Acts 16:25 tells us that the other prisoners were listening. That detail matters more than it might seem. In your hardest moments, someone is always paying attention. Your children are watching how you handle the diagnosis. Your spouse is watching how you respond when the finances collapse. The people around you are not evaluating your faith on Sunday morning. They are watching you at midnight. Paul and Silas did not let their circumstances write their theology. They chose worship when despair would have been completely understandable. That is not denial. That is defiance rooted in deep trust. You may be in your own midnight right now. The walls may feel close and the chains may feel heavy. But the same God who heard that song in a Roman dungeon hears yours. Your worship in the dark is not wasted. It is powerful, and somebody near you needs to see it.

When life gets hard, do the people closest to you see a man who trusts God, or do they see a man who only praises Him when things are going well?

Prayer
Lord, teach me to worship You in the dark, not just in the light. Let my response to hardship point my family toward Your faithfulness. Amen.
