hey guys, men's group was awesome last night! if you missed it, you should definitely come next monday to hear the continuation of the video series "soul detox" by Craig Groeschel. thanks again JT for leading this study! i know that already the series has spoken to all our hearts... and no doubt our souls too. :-P

okay, so no big surprise, but i'm posting a link to a video podcast from my hero, ben stuart!! what's crazy about this particular podcast is that it completely ties in to what Craig Groeschel talked about in last night's video about why our souls are heavy and wounded and and how to overcome this. and what's even crazier is that i happened to randomly listen to this particular podcast on the drive up to men's group last night and on my way to class this morning! of course i had to share!

When we are praying for Peace what we are really praying for is Wholeness, because peace IS wholeness. Peace is so much more than just being calm or relaxed, it is complete wholeness! Oh, how we should desire the perfect peace from our Lord and Savior!

Proverbs 31:3
"Do not spend your strength on women…"
Psalms 73:26
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

That being said, your most important relationship is with your Father in Heaven, Christ Jesus! Once you experience the Love of Christ you will then learn to Love as Christ Loves. Then, and only then, will you experience the true love that you seek. The bible talks A LOT!! about relationships and how important they are. However, if you don't have a personal relationship with Christ, all your earthly relationships will most likely fail you. Once you learn to Love as Christ loves, you will have a better handle on life when others fail you. You will also develop deep, long lasting relationships with others who know how to love the same.

Want instant results? OR Quality results that last? Can't have both. Fast food for example: instant, virtually effort free, uber unhealthy. Microwave: you can eat all the health food you want but if you cook them in the microwave b/c you want them instantly, you are zapping out all the nutrients thus omitting the health right out of them.
Do you expect the same from people? You want someone to change, employee to do a project, yourself to look buff?? Don't expect quality and longevity if you want instant.

It's never too late to change. I know it is cliche but 'tis true. The older you are obviously the harder it gets. You have to decide which do you want more: to change the things you've always wanted to (i.e. start a new business, lose weight, relationship with God, be more decisive, etc.) OR accept who you are and not put forth the effort to reinvent yourself. I chose the latter for 30 years and was OK with it, yet unhappy. I beseech you my friends and family, don't settle for less. I don't care if you are 10, 20, 30, 50, or 70+ years old. It's not too late!!
This nut does not fall far from the tree by any means, even hit a few branches on the way down. However, I am planting a new tree. My offspring will learn different habits and character traits than those I lived with for so long but don't particularly care for. i.e. passivity, laziness, just to name a couple.
Perhaps you who are reading this are of an older generation and your tree has been established. You may not be able to plant a new tree, however, you can change the color of your branch!!!

How strong is your will power today? How are you doing at resisting temptation? 3 things to remember:
1) God does not tempt anyone (James 1:13) Only the Devil does
2) Resist the devil and he will flee. (James 4:7)
3) With Christ you can do all things. (Philippians 4:13)
