Today we recognize Juneteenth—the day the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It stands as a powerful reminder that justice must be pursued, history must be remembered, and freedom should never be taken for granted.

As we reflect on the resilience of those who came before us, may we also recommit ourselves to truth, dignity, faith, and the ongoing work of building a more just future for generations to come.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17

Happy Juneteenth from The Gospel Truth. RememberReflectRise

A significant step forward for affordable senior housing in South Miami-Dade.

Community leaders, housing advocates, development partners, and residents gathered to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of Quail Roost Station Phase II, a new affordable housing community designed to help older adults age with dignity, independence, and access to essential services.

Located along the South Dade TransitWay, the development offers thoughtfully designed studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, along with amenities that support wellness, connection, and quality of life.

This milestone was made possible through the collaboration of Miami-Dade County, Atlantic Pacific Companies, East Coast Development Enterprise, EAC Developers, Palmetto Homes of Miami, and numerous public and private partners committed to expanding affordable housing opportunities for our community.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. For many, healing isn’t always loud or obvious. Mental health isn’t just something we visit when life gets hard, it’s something we tend to, daily, with intention, honesty, and grace.

This month, and every month, we choose awareness. We choose compassion.
We choose to speak, to support, and to make space for what people are dealing with.

Because silence should never be the barrier to healing.

When belief becomes real, everything shifts.

You move with quiet confidence, not survival.
Life stops happening to you and starts responding through you.

Walk like you know who you are.
That’s where the change begins.

Today, we honor what would have been the 100th birthday of Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek—a force in education, a champion for the underserved, and a voice that carried the weight—and the hope—of her people with unwavering grace and conviction.

Because of her, opportunities expanded and barriers moved. Because of her, Miami-Dade and this nation—stands stronger.

At The Gospel Truth, we don’t just remember Congresswoman Meek… we recognize that her impact is still unfolding in real time.

Happy Heavenly 100th Birthday to a woman who never asked for permission to make change—she simply did.
