Happy Mother’s Day!
Romans 16:13
“Greet Rufus, whom the Lord picked out to be his very own; and also his dear mother, who has been a mother to me.”
Paul closes this letter not with theology, but giving thanks for those around him and many of them women, who faithfully served Jesus Christ and strengthened the early church. Not much is said about them, yet they had a very powerful influence in Paul’s ministry.
In v13 Paul mentions the mother of a man named Rufus and says she “has been a mother to me as well.”
In my life, I’ve seen God work through the quietness, faithfulness of my mother and other women who nurture, encourage, and pray.
So we thank God today and every day for mothers, grandmothers, and spiritual mothers at New Life who help us see Jesus Christ clearly.
