"And 'don’t sin by letting anger control you.' Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry..." - Ephesians 4:26 (NLT)

We can't stop anger from happening, but we can channel it into prayer and give it to God.

The pace of Jesus isn’t a run, it’s a walk. Jesus isn’t in a hurry with us. We shouldn’t be either. His pace is the pace of love. It’s slow, it’s intentional, it’s caring, it’s loving.

We all have a sickness, and the sickness is caused by hurry. It drives our need to continue to keep moving even when everything else is asking us to stop, pause, or simply slow down.

The only way to cure this hurry sickness is to remember who we are and to orient our lives towards rest.

We belong to God. Created from love, on purpose, in hopes that we flourish and reflect the goodness of God into the world. We were created good, blessed, and called a masterpiece; all before we ever could produce anything with our hands or our lives. Our worthiness isn’t attached to our ability to produce. No, we are simply loved and cherished by our Creator.

We aren’t meant to live our lives at a frenetic pace. We need to slow down, pause, and allow Jesus’ unforced rhythms to renew us.

Join us next week as we talk about the sabbath, and God’s desire and heart for all creation to be renewed and restored.

Happy Labor Day!

Our culture is consumed with more, better, faster...but that exhausts us. It leaves us burnt out. We need to learn how to rest.

How are you choosing to rest today? (Even if your day is busy.)

What song are you singing to God today?

We do this on our own, but there's something special when we gather together and sing.

It's “impossible” to be the Body of Christ if you separate yourself from the rest of the Body.

This is why we put so much value on being together. We're a people united into this Christian life.

"But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope." - 1 Thessalonians 4:13

We do grieve. We do cry. But we know that we can hold onto hope. One day, things will be made right.

But until then, hold onto Jesus, hold into community, and allow yourself space to grieve.
