Jesus is Lord

Jesus is Lord My dream is that all Men and Women will be saved! But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.

The Shepherds and the Angels

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christa the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Sermon of the Week – Choices, Choices, Choices

Message by Warren W. Randall, Jr.

Church, I want to speak directly and clearly today. The title of this sermon is: Choices, Choices, Choices.

People say the one constant in life is death and taxes. But truthfully, no one ever really dies—you just move from one existence to the next. And which existence that will be, that’s a choice. Taxes? Well, even that’s a choice, though you may not like the consequences.

Every day you and I make choices, dozens of them. Some small, like whether to hit the snooze button. Some big, like whether we will serve God. The world says right and wrong shifts with culture and perspective. But God never changes. His Word is the constant.

At the end of all choices stands the eternal one: will you choose God and life, or will you choose the devil and death? There is no middle ground.

Moses said, “Choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” I say the same today—choose life. Choose Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We gather together today, united in prayer, bringing forth our friend Lanpre into Your presence. We might not know the full extent of his health challenges, but we understand that he is in need of Your healing touch. We respect his privacy, but lift him up in prayer, asking for Your mercy, healing, and comfort to encompass him.

Oh Lord, You are the Supreme Healer, the Great Physician who can mend what is broken, heal what is sick, and revive what is lifeless. We pray earnestly that Your healing hand will touch Lanpre, rejuvenating his body and spirit, removing every pain, ailment, and discomfort that he might be experiencing.

We pray for strength, not only for Lanpre but also for his loved ones, friends, and family who surround him. May they be a continuous source of support, love, and light in his life. Fill their hearts with hope, courage, and peace as they walk alongside him during this journey.

Gracious Father, we also ask for prolonged life for Lanpre, that he might have many more years to spend with those who love him. May his presence continue to be a source of joy, laughter, and happiness to his friends and family. Grant him days filled with vitality, contentment, and fulfillment of purpose.

Lord, we place our trust and faith in Your unending love and miraculous power. We believe that nothing is too hard for You, and Your timing is perfect. May Your will be done in Lanpre’s life, and may he experience full restoration of health in Your name.

Finally, we pray for all who are facing health challenges and their loved ones, that they may find solace, healing, and comfort in You. May we all remain steadfast in faith, hopeful in challenges, and anchored in love.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”—2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

Google videos of toddlers getting glasses—they’re so moving! I can relate to these videos, as I remember the first time I got glasses in middle school. It’s amazing how your sight can go from seeing the world as a fuzzy mess to everything being clear, crisp, and vivid!

Isn’t it crazy how differently you can see and experience the world simply by having the right lenses on? The Christian life is a lot like that. How so? Well, Ephesians 5:8 (NIV) tells us, “For you were once darkness,” and 2 Corinthians 4:3–4 (NIV) explains that the truth and beauty of the gospel is veiled “to those who are perishing.” Why? Because the “god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ.”

What does this mean practically? It means those who haven’t received Jesus walk through this world blind to the truth, hope, peace, and joy of the Lord. They live day to day in a fog, seeing the world, culture, their circumstances, and themselves as a fuzzy mess, but not knowing any better.

However, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV). Part of this new life is new vision. This reminds me of the man in Mark 8:25 (NIV): “Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.” Once our eyes are open, what happens next? “From now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view” 2 Corinthians 5:16 (NIV). Basically, we’ll be able to relate to the healed blind man who said, “I was blind, but now I see” (John 9:25 NIV)!

This means that in Christ, our eyes are opened to our true identity as His dearly loved children; that we can see through the haze of cultural lies, of the twisting and distorting of truth, and of sinful strongholds in the world. It means we can see the world, our lives, our mission, and ourselves through the lens of Christ as we “put on the Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 13:14 (NKJV) and set our “hearts on things above, where Christ is” (Colossians 3:1 NIV).

And as we put on Christ daily the same way I put on my glasses in the morning and “let [our] roots grow down into him, and let [our] lives be built on him” (Colossians 2:7 NLT), we’ll “be transformed by the renewing of [our] mind . . . able to test and approve what God’s will is” (Romans 12:2 NIV). Not only that, but we’ll be able to lead those whose eyes are still darkened into the clarity and marvelous light of Christ Jesus!

Pause: Why does the Bible say the eyes of unbelievers are blind and darkened? How does being in Christ change that and open our eyes?

Practice: As a believer, you must understand that your vision grows progressively better and clearer the more you grow in relationship with Him and the more you grow in your understanding of the Word. And every once in a while, even as believers, we need to use the Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit the way people with glasses use a lens cleaner spray and cloth to wipe away any smudges of worldly thinking and sinful temptations. But again, this can’t be done apart from growing in Him and His Word. So, this month I encourage you to commit to spending time in the Word and prayer in the morning and evening—even if it’s just 15–20 minutes each time.

Pray: Father, thank You for removing the scales of darkness and death from my eyes. Thank You for curing me of my blindness so I may see You, the world, myself, the mission of the believer, Your will, and Your purposes and plans for my life clearly. I pray that through Your Holy Spirit, I may continue to grow in my vision of being conformed to the image of Christ. I pray that in the Holy Spirit, I may be devoted to putting on Christ daily as people put on glasses, and I pray that by Your Holy Spirit, all impurities, smudges, and stains of sin, the world, and of false doctrine may be wiped off the lenses of my faith. Amen.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you before you were born I set you apart.”—Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

Do you know what seems like a fun job? Naming medicines. Who came up with Claritin or Tylenol or Flonase? This got me thinking, Who has the right to name or label something? Well, there are two categories of people:

1. Creators: When we create something, we have the right to label it. For example, when babies are born their parents label them by giving them a name.

2. Purchasers: When we purchase something, we have the right to label it. For example, when someone gets a pet, one of the first things they’ll do is give it a name.

Some labels are carried like a badge of honor, others are carried in shame. Some we give ourselves, while some have been given to us. This collection of labels shapes our identity.

Psychologist David Benner defines identity as, “Who we perceive and experience ourselves to be—the I each of us carries within.” Knowing this, how do we answer the questions: Who has the right to label us? Who has the right to shape our identity and define who we are?

Genesis 1:26 tells us that God made us in His image and likeness, while Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” Let’s look also at these passages from Psalms:

Psalm 100:3 (NIV): “It is he who made us, and we are his.”
Psalm 119:73 (NIV): “Your hands made me and formed me.”
Psalm 139:13 (NIV): “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.”

God created us, designed us, and knit us together from the innermost to the outermost part of us. God knows us more deeply, intimately, and completely, more than we know ourselves. If anyone is qualified to properly label us and shape our identity, it’s God.

Neither society, media, social media, nor other people are qualified or entitled to shape our identity. And despite what we may think, neither are we! Our identity isn’t shaped by feelings or experiences, but by God, who made us! But it goes deeper than that, because not only is God the most qualified to label us and shape our identity as Creator, He’s also the only One with the right to because He purchased us!

1 Peter 1:18–19 (NIV) says, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ.” Friends, the price God paid in order to purchase us was the most valuable, priceless, precious treasure: His Son, Jesus Christ. He made it all and paid it all to free us from sin and death, give us eternal life, adopt us into His family, and call us His sons and daughters!

Pause: Why is God the only One qualified and entitled to give us our identity?

Practice: What are some labels you’ve carried around? How have they shaped your identity? On a card, write down the three most profound labels you carry around. Under the label, write the internal script this label has created for you. On the other side of the card, write a label God has given you in Christ, as outlined in Scripture.

Pray: Father, I am Yours! My entire being, my identity, it all comes from You and centers around You! Help me to walk firmly and confidently in the identity I have received in Your Son, Jesus. Amen.

I wish people who claim to know the scripture state that the bible has this scripture: "God helps those who help themselves."

The Bible teaches us that we should live our lives according to God's word. In doing so, God blesses us and bestows his favor on us. Mostly the Bible teaches us to help others.

Although, there are scriptures like this: 2 Thessalonians 3:10 - For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”

God assists those he chooses, whether they are helping themselves or others. Usually, there is a seed within that person that God waters so it can grow.

Just remember, it is not a matter of doing for ourselves. We must live each day we can within God's will, most of all, share his Word and Will with others.

This life is temporary; we live and act for our eternal lives. Amen!
