A farmer scattered the same seed on four kinds of ground, and only one patch grew.

Jesus said the seed is the Word of God and the soil is the human heart. Same seed, every time. What made one patch bear fruit was the Spirit preparing the ground to receive it.

You can hear the gospel a hundred times and walk away unmoved. Only the Holy Spirit makes it take root.

Maybe you grew up in church and the words went flat years ago. That is not the end. God still gives new hearts, by grace, through faith in Christ.

The deeper Christ has forgiven, the deeper the heart loves him.

A woman known as a sinner walked into a Pharisee's house uninvited and wept at Jesus' feet. The host watched in disgust. Jesus watched with love. He turned to Simon and told a parable about two debtors and the love that comes from being forgiven much.

She came to the dinner uninvited. She left forgiven.

A woman known around town as a sinner crashed a Pharisee's dinner to weep at Jesus' feet. The respectable host went home unchanged. Jesus said to her, "Your faith has saved you."

John the Baptist doubted Jesus.

He sat in a prison cell and sent his disciples to ask Jesus if he was really the one. Jesus answered by doing exactly what Isaiah said the Messiah would do. The blind see. The lame walk. The poor hear good news.
