Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Greater Cumberland

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Greater Cumberland We are a welcoming congregation. Unitarian Universalism is a "covenantal" rather than a creedal faith. We are a theologically diverse congregation.

The UUFGC is a dynamic, liberal religious community whose members and friends support one another in a continuing commitment to a free, open, and loving search for spiritual and religious truth and meaning. Unitarian Universalist congregations are places where people gather to nurture their spirits and put their faith into action by helping to make our communities - and the world - a better place.

We hold a diversity of beliefs and support on-going spiritual exploration and growth, but we share a commitment to compassion and service in our relationships with others. "We're a very pluralistic faith, religiously, and my experience of and relationship to the holy does not need to inform the experience of the relationship of the holy of others in our faith."
- The Reverend William Sinkford, President of the UUA, St .Petersburg Times interview. Our shared worship is framed around our belief that how we live together - how we take care of each other and the earth - is critically important, and we strive to live our lives guided by compassion and a commitment to social justice. We also commit to each other that we will respect and support each person's sincere, responsible search for truth and meaning, and we recognize that this is an ever-evolving journey. We are an ethical and liberal religious community dedicated to promoting the ongoing search for truth and to affirming the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. We welcome all who would like to be part of a caring, open-minded, spiritual community. You can learn more about Unitarian Universalism at http://www.uua.org/

June 14th Rev. Paul Britner
"Paul's Theological Dictionary: Faith".

When others ask "Are you a believer?", they usually have a specific belief in mind. Yet, faith is as universal as the human experience; it just takes different forms.

This is our last regular service of the church year. All are invited to stay after the service for an ice cream social.

Several special events will be scheduled for our summer break. Watch your email or check back here. Our first will be a vegan/vegetarian potluck dinner on June 27th at 5:30 p.m.

Regular Sunday services will resume on September 13th.

Irene Glasse -
"Living the Practice"

Spiritual practices inspire learning, gathering with others of like mind, and trying to build a life in accordance with our values. Along with those wonderful traits, a spiritual practice can also invite us to go deeper: to uncover that which is hidden, root into that which is present, and sink into ever more meaningful layers of connection. Explore approaches for experiencing more meaning, resonance, and depth in our living tradition.
Irene Glasse is a Commissioned Lay Minister of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Frederick and president of Frederick CUUPS (Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans). She is a blogger, author, and a longtime teacher of witchcraft, meditation, and magic in the mid-Atlantic.

Rev. Paul Britner: “Courage”

Courage is a virtue that, in some ways, is no different than any other virtue — love, forgiveness, and justice to name three — that can be nurtured and grown. It’s also different from other virtues in ways that Paul will share in this message.

"Monkey Business-
Jane Goodall & Other Animals"
Humans are special, right? We have tools, language, self-awareness, morality....or are we really that special? Jane Goodall's impressive legacy includes rescuing the science of animal behavior from its own religion-based dogma. Knowing we evolved, is it really so surprising that our cousins have qualities we once thought unique to us?

Stay after for coffee and conversation.
