Good morning! Just a reminder, caroling at The Kensington is this coming Monday evening. Meet there in the lobby at 6:30 PM.

If anyone can bring cookies tomorrow to church that we can share with the residents, I will make up a tray with what you bring to take with us. My students made cards this week for the residents and they have a few of their Christmas pieces prepared to play as well as a song to sing. The sing-along songs will be Christmas songs from the hymnal that were in the Christmas program last week, so you've already had practice 😉. Our choir will sing a song or two, and a guest may song a solo if she can attend...so it should be a good time and hopefully bring some holiday cheer to the residents.

If you are planning to attend, please let me know as soon as possible so I know how many song sheets to print off.

Thank you! -Sam King

If anyone would be interested in Christmas caroling at The Kensington on Monday, December 22 at 6:30pm, please let me (Sam King) know by Sunday the 21st so i can get the handouts to you. There will be some sing-along songs with the residents (the same songs that will be used in the Christmas program at church---familiar Christmas songs that are in our hymnal), a few pieces by my few piano students, a choir song or two, a solo or two, and a reading...nothing fancy. I will print out a sheet for those attending with the order as well as the song lyrics so it is easy to follow. It was a bit of a whim that I decided to try to organize something so short notice but it's all coming together well. My piano students have a Christmas party this coming week and we will make cards to distribute to the residents.

If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute cookies or small sweet treats of some kind (brownies, etc), they would be greatly appreciated and you can bring them next Sunday (the 21st). The director mentioned that the residents love snacks and so I said we should be able to bring a cookie tray.

Thank you...and I hope you can join us!!

I ask that you continue to pray for the people of central Texas, where the Guadalupe River rose more than 20 feet in less than an hour destroying everything in its path. The catastrophic flooding has taken the lives of more than one hundred people.

May God fill those who are broken-hearted from loss with comfort, peace and strength. May God help those who are searching for others.

I am the Rev. Ken McDonald the newly appointed Pastor to Melvin UMC. I recently retired after 39 years of ordained ministry in the Baltimore-Washington Conference. My ministry has encouraged spiritual growth and fruitful discipleship—emphasizing passionate worship, mission and service, and a genuine love for all of God’s children.
It is a privilege and a joy to continue serving God in this new phase of life known as semi-retirement.

Good afternoon, Melvin friends. I just wanted to drop a quick note that our new Pastor, Rev. Ken McDonald, is now a joint admin/moderator for this page as well as the prayer request page, so he will be posting here now as well. 😁

Heidi Bradshaw will be sharing this coming Sunday regarding Vacation Bible School, and we look forward to welcoming and hearing our new pastor the following week (July 6, 2025). Please plan to join us for our church service at 11 AM!
