Even when you are tested, our faith shows us you can hold on! Because there is one who will bring you through fire and water. There is one who will not let your feet slip. There is one who will keep you in the land of the living, and who will bring you out to a spacious place (Psalm 66.)

You don't have to carry it alone.

God knows your heart. But we've also been given a gift, a voice, a prophetic call to say it out loud. To make enough noise that others know they're not alone either.

That's what community is for. Not just to show up on Sundays, but to lift each other's joys, ease each other's fears, and multiply what none of us could do on our own.

When we come together, something shifts. Our loneliness shrinks. Our courage grows. And what seemed impossible starts to look a lot more like God's work already in motion.

We have nothing to fear. Honestly.

So step out. Loud and proud. Your voice matters. Your passion matters. The Holy Spirit didn't come to quiet you down. She came to set you on fire.

Happy birthday to the church. All of it. Every last loud, hopeful, justice-seeking piece of it.

What is it that lights you up? Drop it in the comments.

Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Diane Bennekamper left us with a charge for uncertain times.

She admitted that at times the world looks like a pretty grim place. Many of us are feeling that way in these days of uncertainty, of upheaval, of violence, of the apparent purposeful infliction of pain on those seen as "other." So how do we face those things?

She turned to Romans. "Knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit."

Her message: we can endure in changing the future rather than just letting it happen to us. Whatever generation you are in, be open to where God is leading you and be a change agent.

Because nowhere in the Gospels do we see Jesus drawing circles to keep people out. The only circles Jesus draws are so vast that they welcome people in.

Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

Twenty-five years ago, this Church chose love.

We gather here to celebrate the wondrous diversity that makes up our world and the rainbow of people who make up our community. Open. Affirming. A witness to the belovedness of all God's children.

I think about what it means to stand here today, renewing that commitment. We worship a God whose love is incarnate, whose spirit still moves among us. A God who has called us to this time and to this place, not to build walls but to tear them down. To speak out wherever hatred, fear, or division arises.

Jesus commanded us to love one another as we love ourselves, and to love as God first loved us. That is the whole of it. And in so doing, the world will know whose we are.

So we celebrate a quarter century of saying yes to God's wonderfully abundant, inclusive love. And we say, "Yes" again today!
