This year, as part of our effort to build a new world of Faith, based on Pope John Paul II, we want to pray for world unity through Love and Peace. We do not have to be all Catholics or Christians in order to be part of God’s kingdom. In his Kingdom there are Christians and Muslims, Jewish and Buddhist. In heaven there is no religion. Sometimes we forget that the Virgin Mary was not Catholic, that many of the apostles continued to worship in Jewish temples and that all the prophets in the Old Testament were not Christians. Could heaven be a place where different religions mingle? Absolutely! For us it is important to be Catholics or Pentecostals or Jewish or Muslim, but there is only one God. For God religion does not exist. Wow, is that radical? Is that the first time your thought about that? Profound?
I recently met a Muslim family; they are very sweet and humble. They are celebrating Ramadan and they spend the whole day fasting until sunset. I find their faith fascinating and inspiring. They have three school age children (4, 8 and 14). They cannot afford to go to Summer Camp. Just like them, there are other children unable to spend a day, let alone a week, in a fun and educational setting.
Camp Fun in the Sun is a Summer Camp, founded by Fr. Jacob Levy three years ago. The camp charges a low registration in order to help low income families. Every year the camp receives donations from generous people like you. You can help by sponsoring one of these children. The money is used for food, snacks, beverages and fun activities. If you find it in your heart to sponsor someone, please send a check to
