Kicking off the Summer with Senior Dana Deliveries! Today, our Community seniors were treated to a delicious katsu curry bento, along with some tangerines and other yummy goodies. Alia prepared a Tech Tips for Seniors informational sheet.

Many thanks to the Keiro Grants Program, our Buddhist Womens' Association (BWA) for arranging our delivery contents, and to all our volunteers for helping us make this possible, going on our 6th year!

GROWING UP SANSEI IN THE 60s- Reliving our amazing day last Saturday when we remembered the late Ben Masaoka and celebrated his book "Criminals" Special thanks again to Academy Award winning filmmaker Steven Okazaki, members of the Masaoka family, Keiro, Venice Japanese Community Center Senior Wellness, Jim Nakano (aka the Donut Man), all of our personal sponsors and donors, and to all who attended and made this event such a memorable one. Thanks to everyone, we were able to make a donation to the Venice Japanese American Memorial Monument.

Great thanks to organizer Dianne Kujubu Belli, and the VHBT Keiro Committee and the Keiro Grants Program for making this happen.

GROWING UP SANSEI in the 60’s… On Saturday, May 16th, about 150 gathered at the Temple for this very special day, where Academy Award winning filmmaker Steven Okazaki and members of the Masaoka family shared a reading and discussion of the late Ben Masaoka’s book Criminals. Both Steven and Ben grew up in the Venice community, and attendees shared their own experiences about being JA at that time and also got to reunite with some long time friends.

A big thank you to Steven and the Masaoka family, and to event sponsors Keiro and the Keiro Grants Program, Venice Japanese Community Center Senior Wellness and VHBT. Big thanks to Jim Nakano (aka The Donut Man) for providing some delicious donuts too!

Thanks to all who attended and to our many donors and personal sponsors who helped make this possible.
