Greetings from Stand Firm Christian Church

15th Sunday after Pentecost

“…the one who loves another has fulfilled the law” (Romans 13:8)

Plan to join us at 10AM at the Fire Hall as we worship and fellowship together. As this is the first Sunday in September, we will celebrate Holy Communion. Scripture readings for the service are Ezekiel 33:7–11; Romans 13:8-14; and Matthew 18:15-20. Pastor Travis’ Sermon Topic is “Do You Know What Time It Is?”

Adult Sunday School begins at 8:45. We are studying the Book of Acts and will continue with Acts 18:24.

A big thank you to Jackie for sharing her “from the heart” Testimony at our worship service last Sunday. It was inspiring and so well delivered. There were many positive comments heard during the Fellowship time about her message. We are so lucky to have her (and Wayne) worshipping with us every Sunday.

Our church ladies are starting preparations for their annual Christmas Bazaar to be held this year on Saturday October 31st at the Brandy Station Fire Hall. They are planning several workdays to make articles for sale. Anyone interested in being a part of this “fun time” is encouraged to contact Mary Alice or Marion for details.

Since the first Monday of the month is our regular Trustee meeting and this Monday is a Holiday, we will delay our meeting to the following Monday, the 14th.

Upcoming Events:
· 09/14/2026 - Next Trustee Meeting at 7:30 PM
· 09/13/2026 – Trustee Report to Congregation
· 10/31/2026 – Christmas Bazaar
· 11/29/2026 – Next Fifth Sunday

Blessings!

Plan to join us at 10AM at the Fire Hall as we worship and fellowship together. Scripture readings for the service are Genesis 45:1-15; Romans 11:1-2a, 29-32; and Matthew 15:10-28. Pastor Travis’ Sermon Topic is “A Crumb from Jesus’ Hand”.

Adult Sunday School begins at 8:45. We are studying the Book of Acts and will continue with Chapter 17 with Glen and Monica as our leaders.

Our church ladies are starting preparations for their annual fundraise, The Christmas Bazaar, to be held this year on Saturday October 31st at the Brandy Station Fire Hall. They are planning several workdays to make articles for sale. Anyone interested in being a part of this “fun time” is encouraged to contact Mary Alice or Marion for details.

AN OPEN INVITATION: The Trustees meet the first and third Mondays of the month OnLine at 7:30 PM. Any member of the church is welcomed to join in and listen to our discussions. We would simply ask that you not disrupt the meeting. The standard agenda includes an Opening Prayer, Review of Action Items, a Finance Report, Pastor’s Report, Special Topics, and a Closing Prayer. Minutes of the meeting are published.

We have a volunteer to share their Testimony in our next fifth Sunday service on October 30th. The format of this service will be a normal worship service/liturgy with a testimony instead of a sermon. We will be giving Pastor Travis a break.

The old expression “April showers bring May flowers” could be modified to “Summer showers bring Weeds galore”. If you’ve driven by the property recently, you will see “Weeds Galore”. The Trustees were planning one more mowing this season in late September. Seems like we need an August mowing as well. Stay tuned.

Upcoming Events:
· 08/17/2026 - Next Trustee Meeting at 7:30 PM
· TBD/2026 – Trustee Report to Congregation
· 08/30/2026 – Next Fifth Sunday

Blessings.

Greetings from Stand Firm Christian Church

10th Sunday after Pentecost

“Why do you spend your money for what is not bread and
your wages for what does not satisfy?” (Isaiah 55:2)

Plan to join us at 10AM at the Fire Hall as we worship and fellowship together. Scripture readings for the service are Isaiah 55:1-5; Romans 9:1-5; and Matthew 14:13-21. Pastor Travis’ Sermon “You Are What You Eat”.

Adult Sunday School begins at 8:45. We are studying the Book of Acts and will begin Chapter 17 with Glen and Monica as our leaders.

POSTED FOR THE SECOND TIME: We have a good selection of pictures taken at the church picnic that we would like to post on our page if no one has an objection. If any one of you who were there last Sunday and would prefer that we not post a shot that may include you, please let one of the Trustees know. If we hear no objections by the end of Fellowship this Sunday, we will put the pictures on our page.

This Sunday is the cutoff for anyone wishing to have their name on a panel of the Founders quilt. Blank panels and marker pens will be available at the signin table for anyone wanting to be included.

We are still looking for a volunteer to share their Testimony in our next fifth Sunday service. The format of this service will be a normal worship service/liturgy with a testimony instead of a sermon. We will be giving Pastor Travis a break.

A big SHOUT OUT to a small group of Servants who show up at the Fire Hall every Wednesday morning, without fail, to clean the Hall, Bathrooms and Kitchen. They have gotten rave reviews from the Fire Hall management about the beautiful job they do. This group has been doing this for the last three years! This work gives us free use of the Fire Hall for our Sunday worship and saves us over $1500 per month in expenses. A great example of agape love. Thank you JKMT…

Greetings from Stand Firm Christian Church

9th Sunday after Pentecost

“…we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)

We had a great Picnic and Celebration last Sunday, celebrating our third anniversary as a church standing firmly on God’s Word and the payoff of the loan to purchase property for our future home. It has been an amazing three years at SFCC as we reflect on the many accomplishments and reflect on the many lives we have touched through our Mission gifts and our worship services. We have benefitted from the many “teaching sermons” from Pastor Travis as well as several memorable testimonies given by some of our members. This fourth Sunday in July we get back to our normal worship service.

Plan to join us at 10AM at the Fire Hall as we worship and fellowship together. Scripture readings for the service are I Kings 3:5-12; Romans 8:26-39; and Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52. Pastor Travis’ Sermon “A Kingdom Like No Other”.

Adult Sunday School begins at 8:45. We are studying the Book of Acts and will continue in Chapter 16.

We have a good selection of pictures taken at the church picnic that we would like to post on our FaceBook page if no one has an objection. If any one of you who were there last Sunday and would prefer that we not post a shot that may include you, please let one of the Trustees know. We will not post them if anyone objects.

This week we received a phone call from Michelle at Samaritan’s Purse who left the following Voicemail

“Dear Friends at Stand Firm Christian Fellowship, On behalf of Franklin Graham, thank you for your church’s thoughtful gift to support Venezuela Earthquake Relief. We are deeply grateful to your church for your continued prayers, as we minister in Jesus’ Name to families who have lost so much. The needs are immense, and we anticipate our response to grow in the coming weeks and months. Please continue to pray for the Venezuelan people, and for our teams and church partners as we step through this open door to minister effectively.”

Upcoming Events:

Church Picnic Celebrating 3 Years

“And I will tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church…” Matthew 16:18

Plan to join us at 11AM at the Fire Hall for our third annual Church Picnic tomorrow, 19th. This year we are celebrating our third anniversary as Stand Firm Christian Church. We are also celebrating the payoff of the loan for the church property. Come and enjoy good food, good fellowship and fun games. We will have a large cake to cut to mark the occasion. Bring a friend.

There will be NO Adult Sunday School this week.

We plan to start at 11:00 AM. with a short devotional/message by Pastor Travis. We will combine the picnic with a celebration of three years as Stand Firm Christian Church. We plan to have an assortment of games and fun things to do. Food Main Dish will be provided by the church. Everyone is invited to bring a side dish or a dessert of your choice. We are inviting folks who have worshipped with us sometime in the past and are no longer coming. They are certainly a part of our three years legacy. And, we hope to have as many as can to come reconnect as friends. Anyone able to come early to help with setup is requested to be at the Fire Hall by 10:30. We have reserved the facilities until 2:00 PM.

Gloria has graciously offered to add new panels to the Founders quilt. She has fabric panels available for anyone who would like to have their name added to the quilt. They will be available on the welcome table for the next few Sundays. We would like to have everyone worshipping with us be included.

Upcoming Events:

“…to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6b)

Plan to join us at 10AM at the Fire Hall as we worship and fellowship together. Pastor Travis’ sermon is titled “What’s Growing in Your Garden?” Scripture readings for the service are Isaiah 55:10-13; Romans 8:1-11; and Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23

Adult Sunday School begins at 8:45. We are studying the Book of Acts and will begin Chapter 16.

Our annual Church Picnic at the Fire Hall is just one week away, on July 19th. We have reserved the facilities until 2:00 PM.

At our Trustee meeting last Monday evening, we voted to send $3000 to Samaritan’s purse to go to the earthquake victims in Venezuela. We also discussed plans for future Fifth Sunday services and decided to not make it a Great Day of singing given feedback from members of the congregation. You like the Testimony format but would prefer an otherwise normal worship service. We will continue to give our pastor a break for that Sunday. Just a note: the next Fifth Sunday is August 30. Anyone interested in giving a Testimony on that date is encouraged to let one of the Trustees know.

Gloria has graciously offered to add new panels to the Founders quilt. She has fabric panels available for anyone who would like to have their name added to the quilt. They will be available on the welcome table for the next few weeks. We would like to have everyone worshipping with us be included.

If you drive by our Church Property, you will notice that it has been recently mowed and trimmed up. It has a very nice “curb appeal” to it. Thanks to all the workers that gave the sweat off their brow making this happen.

Greetings from Stand Firm Christian Church

4th Sunday after Pentecost

“…our old self was crucified with Him so that…we might no longer
be enslaved to sin.” (Romans 6:6)

Bring no food this Sunday

This Sunday we celebrate Father’s Day when we are reminded as believers not only to honor earthly fathers but also to give thanks to God, our Heavenly Father, whose love, discipline, and care are perfect. Earthly fathers are called to reflect His character by leading with love, humility, wisdom, and faithfulness. As Joshua declared: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)

Plan to join us at 10AM at the Fire Hall as we experience the presence of our amazing Father, God. Pastor Travis’ sermon is titled “A Father’s Love”. Scripture readings for the service are Genesis 21:8-21; Romans 6:1b-11; and Matthew 10:24-39.

Adult Sunday School begins at 8:45. We are studying the Book of Acts and will continue in Chapter 14.

We had a great turnout for our worship service last Sunday with 43 in attendance. Most everyone stayed for the Congregational meeting following the service to get an update on exploring options of merging with another church. Members were encouraged to share their thoughts with any of the Trustees at any time. These updates will be done every 4 to 6 weeks. We all need to be praying for guidance.

Next Sunday, June 28, we will welcome Ms Shelley Burnham, Executive Director of CARS (Christ-Centered Addiction Restoration Services) to speak to us during our worship hour. She will explain their program to us and take questions. The purpose is to have SFCC informed as we consider becoming involved through our Community Outreach endeavors. Anyone interested in getting more information before June 28th can visit the CARS website at https://herestores.com/ .

We are planning to have our annual Church Picnic at the Fire Hall on July 19th. We will combine the picnic with a celebration of three years as Stand Firm Christian Church. We plan to have an assortment of games and fun things to do. Food Main Dish will be provided by the church. Everyone is invited to bring a side dish or a dessert of your choice.

We have scheduled another clean-up day at the church property for June 27th starting at 9:00 AM. We hope to mow all the property and the bank along 229. We will need at least one push mower and w**d eaters for the bank. The whole job shouldn’t take more than three hours.

Short Congregation Meeting after Worship

We will celebrate the Joy of having Jesus Christ in our daily Life. Plan to join us at 10AM at the Fire Hall as we experience His presence of the Holy Spirit among us. Pastor Travis’ sermon is titled “The Results of Faith in Christ”. Scripture readings for the service are Genesis 18:1-15; Romans 5:1-10; and Matthew 9:35-10:8.

Adult Sunday School begins at 8:45. We are studying the Book of Acts and will begin Chapter 14.

At the beginning of Fellowship time this Sunday, June 14, the Trustees will give a short report to update the congregation on continuing discussions in our search for a compatible church (similar beliefs, standing firm on God’s Word, similar Vision and Mission statements, similar form of worship, and similar goals) to join either as a merger or a partnership. We will share where we are on this journey. We will hear a brief report from the Building Committee. There will also be a “good news” announcement so please plan to stay for a few minutes.

The Trustees are considering a recommendation that our church support an organization focused on drug addiction in our community. To get better informed, we will have a representative come and give us a presentation and answer questions during the worship hour on June 28th. Anyone interested in getting more information before June 28th can visit the CARS website at https://herestores.com/

Greetings from Stand Firm Christian Church

2nd Sunday after Pentecost

“I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God
rather than burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6)

We will celebrate Holy Communion in our worship this Sunday. Plan to join us at 10AM at the Fire Hall as we experience the presence of the Holy Spirit among us. Pastor Travis’ sermon is titled “Biblical Righteousness”. Scripture readings for the service are Hosea 5:15–6:6; Romans 4:13-25; and Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26.

Adult Sunday School begins at 8:45. We are studying the Book of Acts and will continue with Chapter 14.

Next Sunday, June 14, the Trustees will give a short report to update the congregation on continuing discussions regarding the possibility of a compatible church merger or partnership. To ensure everyone is informed, we want to clarify that we are only exploring and considering these options, and no definitive decisions have been made to move forward. We are simply evaluating potential churches that share our core values: similar beliefs, standing firm on God’s Word, matching Vision and Mission statements, a similar form of worship, and aligned goals. We will share where we currently stand in this exploratory phase and answer your questions at the beginning of Fellowship time.

The Trustees are considering a recommendation that our church support an organization focused on drug addiction in our community. We have heard Millie speak of CARS (Christ-Centered Addiction Restoration Services) during our prayer time on Sunday mornings. To get better informed, we will have a representative come and give us a presentation and answer questions during the worship hour on June 28th. Anyone interested in getting more information before June 28th can visit the CARS website at https://herestores.com/

We are planning to have our annual Church Picnic at the Fire Hall on July 19th. We will combine the picnic with a celebration of three years as Stand Firm Christian Church. If things go as planned, we will also celebrate the burning of the mortgage on the church property. (George, you know we can’t have fire at the Fire Hall!). OK, we will shred it!

We have scheduled another clean-up day at the church property for June 27th starting at 9:00 AM. We hope to mow all the property and the bank along 229. We will need at least one push mower and w**d eaters for the bank.
