Have you ever been judged based on information that was exaggerated, twisted, or missing key pieces of the story ? Have you ever been mishandled by people who never pulled up a chair and had a conversation with you…yet felt comfortable forming opinions and made decisions based on what they “heard” about you? It’s a painful thing when people make decisions about your character based on secondhand information instead of firsthand truth. The reality is this! Not everyone who tells a story tells the correct or the whole story.

Sometimes details are left out and the motives are hidden. Sometimes assumptions become “facts”, and sometimes people believe a narrative without ever asking a single question. It hurts when people misunderstand your heart and when they believe things that aren’t true. It hurts deep when your name is discussed in rooms where your voice was never invited. Sure, it hurts. And it can destroy you - IF you let it. But don’t waste your energy trying to convince people who have already decided what they want to believe. Don’t exhaust yourself chasing every rumor, correcting every lie or over exaggerations, or defending yourself against every false accusation. Your peace is too valuable. Your purpose is too important. Your calling is too great to spend your life managing other people’s opinions.

Yes, people may misunderstand you and/or may misrepresent you. People may even misjudge you. BUT none of those things have the power to change who God says you are. Your worth is not determined by ANYONE’S opinion. Your calling is not canceled by false narratives and your future is not controlled by people who only know part of the story.

Continue to walk in peace and grace. Just continue to walk in integrity. Speak the truth when necessary. Then, place the rest in God’s hands. Rest in Him. The same God who knows every detail, every motive, each and every conversation, and every tear also knows the truth. You don’t have to spend your life proving yourself to people committed to misunderstanding you. Eventually, truth has a way of standing when every lie and/or exaggeration falls. Some battles are won by speaking. Others are won by walking away and letting God handle what your explanations never could. Just some advice from someone who knows. Jesus is our healer. He is faithful and true. Trust the process.

When you dwell in the secret place of the Most High, God Himself becomes your covering. Not your title, platform, nor your reputation. Not anyone’s opinions, words, thoughts, nor their approval. Him. God, Himself. As sons and daughters of God, we are spending far too much time worrying about who’s talking about us, who is for us or against us, who understands us, and those who don’t. It’s when you truly learn to abide in the presence of God alone, something shifts. You discover that His covering is greater than anyone’s criticism. His voice is much more powerful and much louder than their lies and accusations. His truth is stronger than their opinions. His favor outweighs their rejection.

Ministry becomes different when you understand this. You stop performing for people and start living before an audience of One. You stop will defending yourself because you trust Abba Father, God to be your Defender. You will stop chasing validation because you have already been accepted in Christ. You will no longer strive to prove your worth or set their record straight because your identity is settled in Him. It is in the secret place where God reminds you who you are when the world tries to tell you who you’re not. It is where weary souls find His perfect strength. Where wounded hearts find healing, confused minds find wisdom, and the fearful find courage.

The safest place a child of God can live is not under the approval of people but it’s under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91 doesn’t say you’ll never face battles, it says you will face them from a place of God’s Divine covering. The enemy may throw arrows, but God is your shield. People may misunderstand you, misuse you, and mishandle you but God knows your heart. Doors may close, but God still holds the keys.

So, stay in the secret place. Pray there.
Worship, rest, listen, heal there. Just remember, what God covers, no devil can curse. What God establishes, no person can destroy. What God calls, no opposition can cancel. You need not worry about who isn’t covering you. The Creator of Heaven and Earth already is. God covered Noah in the ark, Moses in the basket, Daniel in the lion’s den, and Jesus in the wilderness. Trust that He knows how to cover you, as well.

If you are in a time of healing, please take your time. Let God rebuild what people broke. Allow Jesus to remind you how your faith was never anchored in a person, a position, or a platform. You have always been designed to be anchored in Christ.

Jesus still has a purpose for your life. What you’ve experienced has changed your story, but it does not get to write your ending. Jesus still holds the pen. One of these days you will discover that the hurt did not have the final word. Jesus did. Jesus does. Period.

Be sure to give yourself grace. You’re not weak because you’re healing slowly. You are not failing because some days it still hurts. You’re not faithless because you still have questions. A broken bone needs time to mend and a wounded heart does, too. God’s not rushing your healing, He’s walking with you through it. Trust that process.

One day you’re gonna wake up and realize that you’re no longer just surviving through what happened, you’re truly living again. There will come the day that you no longer need closure, an apology, or any form of an explanation for what happened and why. The reason? It is when you have supernaturally encountered and fully surrendered to the wonderworking power of The Healer, Jesus. When hurt collides with The Healer, nothing remains the same. All restored, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Before you believe a story, pull up a chair. One of the greatest mistakes people make is forming opinions, making decisions, or taking action based solely on what they've been told by someone else. The truth is, there are always multiple sides to a story. Sometimes facts are left out. Sometimes details are exaggerated. Sometimes motives of the one telling the information (or false information) are being hidden. Sometimes one missing piece of information changes everything. Never assume you're getting the whole truth just because someone sounds convincing. Ask questions. Have the hard conversation. Look the person being talked about in the eye and hear their side before you decide what to believe.

Unfortunately, there are people who will strategically leave out facts, twist circumstances, or present only the pieces that support the narrative they want you to accept. They may not tell an outright lie, they simply won't tell the whole truth. And a half-truth can be just as destructive as a lie.

Now, let’s look at something even harder…Not everyone who speaks against you is simply misinformed. Sometimes people will maliciously and/or deliberately twist facts, leave out critical details, exaggerate events, or flat-out lie because it serves a personal agenda. Some do it out of jealousy. Some do it out of bitterness. Some do it to protect their own image. Some do it because the truth doesn’t fit the story they’re trying to sell. Some may even enjoy destroying others for fun. They love destruction and then move on to the next poor victim of their demise. It’s happened to me! Yes, I said it.

A lie can travel around the world while the truth is still putting its shoes on. That’s why wisdom requires more than just listening to the accusations. It requires a bit of knowledge through investigation. And, that doesn’t mean talking to other people. It means having a one-on-one with the person being accused and then bringing all of the parties together for a discussion. It requires conversation. It requires hearing both sides. It requires enough wisdom to ask yourself, “What am I missing here?” It requires giving the person being accused the benefit of the doubt before acting on what you have HEARD about them.

Even just one fact left out of the mix can completely change the narrative. One missing detail can mask and turn themselves from a villain into a victim. One, open honest conversation with the person being accused can expose what gossip tried to hide.

Never be so quick to believe a report that you forget there is a real person on the other side of the story. Seek truth, and recognize drama. Seek facts, not assumptions. Seek understanding, not just agreement. The truth doesn’t fear investigation. Wisdom doesn't rush to judgment. Discernment doesn't feed on gossip. Integrity seeks understanding before reaching conclusions.

A reputation can be damaged by a conversation the accused was never invited to join. It could destroy them. So before you believe the report... Before you repeat the story... Before you make the decision... Pull out a chair. Listen. Ask questions. Get the facts from all sides. One missing piece of truth may be the very thing that changes everything.

Remember, person who talks to you about others may never be as valuable as the person willing to talk to others with you present.

Hard times are not always. Storms of life come and storms go. If you're not in one right now, you've either just come out of one, or you may find yourself facing one tomorrow... Hey, maybe even later today. That's just life.

Sometimes storms are the consequence of choices we've made. Sometimes they're the result of decisions, actions, or words spoken by someone else. And sometimes there is no explanation at all. Sometimes...it just is.

The rain falls on the just and the unjust alike. (as Matthew 5:45 tells us. ) But this is what I have come to know: The presence of a storm is not proof of the absence of God. Jesus never promised us a storm-free life. He promised His presence smack-dab in the middle of it.

"Be strong and of good courage... for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." (Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV)

While on the boat, the disciples panicked because of the storm. Jesus slept right through it. Why? how? Because the storm was never in control. The One who controls the storm was in the boat. The enemy wants you to focus on the size of the storm. God wants you to remember who is in the boat.

Whatever you're facing today, don't measure God's faithfulness by your circumstances. Measure your circumstances by God's goodness and faithfulness. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
(Psalm 46:1 NKJV) All storms have an expiration date. God’s promises do not. The very same God who saw the storm coming is the God who promised to walk through it with you.

God is not merely aware of your trouble…He is present in it. He doesn’t send help from a distance. He is a very present help. Right here. Right now. In the middle of the bad diagnosis, all the heartbreak, the betrayal, the uncertainty, the grief, and the storm.

The same waves that threaten to drown you must still obey the voice of the Jesus. He is standing beside you…AND Believer, He is on the inside of you. Take heart. Your trouble may be present, but God is very present. This storm is temporary. Jesus is eternal. Trouble has a timeline. God’s presence does not.

Remember, Jesus doesn’t abandon ships in rough waters. He steps onto the deck, speaks peace to fearful hearts, and reminds us that what feels out of control to us has never been out of His control. The waves may be high, the wind may be fierce, but The Captain, The Master of the sea is still on board.
