The Link of Cullman County

The Link of Cullman County The Link exists to build empowering & supportive Christ-like relationships with our neighbors. Our beliefs are as follows:

We believe in God's love.
(1)

All people are valued and loved by God, and it is our joy to serve them and our God. It is through God's love that lives will be changed one by one. We believe in the power of synergy. When people with a common vision work together to solve the challenges faced by our community, we can create a synergy not obtainable while working solo. We believe in progress. Progress is measure, not by how perfe

ct we are, but by the positive, sustainable evidence of the quality of life of the members we serve. We believe in Cullman. We want to embrace the past, present, and future traditions and values of our community. There are consistent opportunities for people to join together behind a cause to transform lives and improve the place where we live. We believe in service. We want to serve those who serve others in our community and beyond. We believe that neighbors can help neighbors through the example of Jesus Christ. It is through his example that we can learn how to serve and love others. We are open to the public Monday thru Friday 8:30 am-4:30 pm and are closed from noon-1 pm for lunch.

Have you applied for SUN Bucks yet? Check out the link below.

No parent should have to worry about how they’ll keep food on the table for their children during the summer months.

That’s why SUN Bucks is such an important resource for Alabama families. Through the Summer EBT program, eligible children can receive a one-time benefit of $120 to help families purchase groceries while school is out.

Most eligible families are enrolled automatically, but if you haven’t received benefits and think your child may qualify, there’s still time to apply! The deadline for 2026 benefits is August 15, 2026.

Visit https://alabama-sunbucks.com/ to complete an online or paper application, or call 800-443-3536 for assistance.

It never hurts to apply or ask if you’re eligible. And please help spread the word by sharing this information with family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who may benefit.

Together, we can help ensure Alabama children have access to the nutrition they need to learn, grow, and thrive all summer long.

Wishing a very happy birthday to our Board Member, Angela Burns!🎉🎉

Angela has served on The Link’s Board of Directors for the past two years, bringing wisdom, encouragement, and support to every meeting, program, and event she attends. Her positive spirit and servant's heart make a lasting impact on both our organization and the people we serve.

As a dedicated professional with Alabama Farm Credit and a proud mom of two, Angela somehow still finds time to invest in her community and champion our mission. Whether she’s cheering on the Crimson Tide or cheering on The Link, her enthusiasm, compassion, and commitment shine through in everything she does.

Angela, thank you for the heart, insight, and leadership you bring to our team. We are grateful for you and hope your birthday was filled with plenty of reasons to celebrate. Happy Birthday!🎂

"An older gentleman visited The Link looking for food assistance. At the time, I was checking him in and getting brief snippets of his story. He had recently come out of chemotherapy and was in need of food assistance.
I ended up shopping with him that day. As we walked through the pantry, I was hyping up some of the food we had available and sharing recipe ideas for some of our more unusual items like radishes and bok choy. As we talked, he began opening up about his worries regarding cooking and how to prepare meals for himself, which naturally led into more recipe suggestions and conversation.
After we finished shopping, we walked out to his vehicle. As we were loading his groceries, he suddenly began sobbing.
I listened and did my best to comfort him while he shared how harrowing 2025 had been. He told me that just one month before completing chemotherapy, he had lost his wife of 52 years.
He was now trying to navigate life on his own and felt completely lost, especially with cooking. His wife had always handled that part of their household.
He also told me that the kindness shown by me, Mrs. Joy, and several of our volunteers had affected him deeply. He said it made him happy to know he could come here and expect kindness during one of the most difficult seasons of his life.
I am not particularly good at handling moments filled with that much emotion, but I did my best. More than anything, I wanted him to know that he was welcome here and that we would be happy to help whenever he needed us.
He thanked me, thanked The Link, and shortly afterward, drove home with his backseat full of groceries."
