We had a great group of volunteers at our stuffing party this week. Thanks to all who helped us finish stuffing and sealing our Annual Appeal mailing before lunch on Tuesday. We hope you can join us in November.

It was an honor for our sisters to be present and witness this ritual of the transfer of the presidency of the Monastic Congregation of St. Scholastica, of which we are one of seventeen member monasteries. Sister Kimberly was elected and blessed at the Congregation Chapter meeting in late June, and she officially takes on the role today, following the presidency of our Sister Lynn.

In two days, our Sister Lynn Marie will complete twelve years (three terms!) as President of the Monastic Congregation of St. Scholastica. Visiting us this week is our President-Elect, Sister Kimberly Porter of Benedictine Sisters of St. Walburg Monastery of Covington, Kentucky. The two are working hard preparing for the August 15th transition. We are grateful for Sister Lynn's wise stewardship of our Monastic Congregation, and look forward to Sister Kimberly's leadership. May God bless them both!

Congratulations Sister Gaby on your work that was featured on local TV! This collaboration between our diocesan Disaster Services office and Birmingham's Emergency Management Agency is wonderful!

More than 30 Jefferson County residents completed the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, a training initiative led by the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) to prepare volunteers to assist their communities during the critical first minutes of an emergency!
