✝️ BEYOND SUNDAY: LIVING THE GRACE LIFE EVERY DAY
Key Text: Romans 12:1–2 KJV
Supporting Texts: Ephesians 2:8–10; Colossians 3:1–4; Galatians 2:20; 2 Corinthians 5:15
Important Grace Principle: Church attendance does not save us, and our Christian conduct does not keep us saved. We are saved entirely by grace through faith in Christ’s finished work. But the same grace that saves us should produce a changed walk, words, and witness.
🔰 INTRODUCTION — CHRISTIANITY IS MORE THAN A SUNDAY ROUTINE
There is nothing wrong with faithfully gathering with a local church. In fact, Paul places great importance on believers assembling together for edification, doctrine, fellowship, and ministry.
📖 1 Corinthians 14:26 — “Let all things be done unto edifying.”
But there is a dangerous mistake: believing that simply entering a church building makes someone a Christian.
A person can carry a Bible and still be unsaved.
A person can sing hymns and still be unsaved.
A person can attend every Sunday and still be unsaved.
Why?
Because salvation is not obtained by religious activity.
📖 Ephesians 2:8–9
“For by grace are ye saved through faith… Not of works…”
According to the Gospel committed to Paul, salvation rests upon what Christ accomplished, not what we accomplish.
📖 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 — Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.
However, once we are saved, grace should begin working through us.
📖 Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…”
So we must maintain the proper order:
GOOD WORKS DO NOT PRODUCE SALVATION.
SALVATION SHOULD PRODUCE GOOD WORKS.
1️⃣ RECEIVE THE GOSPEL
📖 1 Corinthians 15:1–4
Before discussing how Christians should live, we must establish how sinners become Christians.
Christianity begins not with our service to Christ, but with Christ's saving work for us.
A. RECOGNIZE YOUR SIN
📖 Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Church attendance cannot erase sin.
Water baptism cannot erase sin.
Religious membership cannot erase sin.
Human righteousness cannot erase sin.
Every person needs God's righteousness.
B. RELY ON CHRIST'S CROSS
📖 Romans 3:24
“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
Our confidence must be transferred from SELF to CHRIST.
The question is not:
“Have I been religious enough?”
The question is:
“Am I trusting the finished work of Christ?”
C. REST IN HIS GRACE
📖 Romans 4:5
“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly…”
Salvation is received by faith apart from works.
🔥 PREACHING TRUTH:
GOING TO CHURCH DOESN'T MAKE YOU SAVED—BELIEVING THE GOSPEL PLACES YOUR TRUST WHERE SALVATION IS FOUND: IN CHRIST.
2️⃣ RENEW YOUR MIND
📖 Romans 12:2
“…be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
After salvation comes spiritual growth.
Grace does not merely change our eternal destination. Sound doctrine begins changing how we think.
A. REPLACE WORLDLY THINKING
📖 Romans 12:2
“And be not conformed to this world…”
The world constantly teaches:
Live for yourself.
Promote yourself.
Please yourself.
Follow your feelings.
Paul teaches believers to think according to their new identity in Christ.
B. RECEIVE SOUND DOCTRINE
📖 2 Timothy 2:15
“…rightly dividing the word of truth.”
From a Dispensational perspective, spiritual maturity requires understanding God's Word dispensationally.
We recognize Paul's distinctive apostleship:
📖 Romans 11:13
“…I am the apostle of the Gentiles…”
And the revelation of the Mystery:
📖 Ephesians 3:3–9
We study all Scripture, while recognizing what doctrine is specifically addressed to the Body of Christ.
C. REFLECT CHRIST'S MIND
📖 Philippians 2:5
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”
Changed conduct begins with changed thinking.
🔥 PREACHING TRUTH:
WHEN SOUND DOCTRINE FILLS THE MIND, GRACE BEGINS TO SHAPE THE LIFE.
3️⃣ REFORM YOUR WALK
📖 Ephesians 4:1
“I… beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.”
Paul frequently describes Christian living as a walk.
Your walk is not merely what happens for two hours on Sunday.
Your walk is Monday through Saturday too.
A. WALK WORTHILY
📖 Colossians 1:10
“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing…”
Your conduct should correspond with your calling.
You are not walking worthily to become accepted.
You walk worthily because you are already:
📖 Ephesians 1:6 — “accepted in the beloved.”
B. WALK LOVINGLY
📖 Ephesians 5:2
“And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us…”
The grace believer should not be characterized by hatred, bitterness, cruelty, and revenge.
We should demonstrate the love that we ourselves have received.
C. WALK CAREFULLY
📖 Ephesians 5:15
“See then that ye walk circumspectly…”
A grace believer should ask:
Does this honor Christ?
Does this help another believer?
Does this strengthen my testimony?
🔥 PREACHING TRUTH:
DON'T JUST CARRY YOUR BIBLE TO CHURCH—CARRY ITS TRUTH INTO YOUR DAILY WALK.
4️⃣ REFINE YOUR WORDS
📖 Ephesians 4:29
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth…”
One of the clearest demonstrations of spiritual maturity is how we speak.
You can sing beautifully on Sunday and speak destructively on Monday.
Paul says our words should minister grace.
A. REMOVE CORRUPT SPEECH
📖 Ephesians 4:29
Gossip.
Slander.
Dirty speech.
Cruel jokes.
Unnecessary criticism.
Words designed simply to wound.
These should not characterize a believer growing in grace.
B. REPLACE IT WITH GRACIOUS SPEECH
📖 Colossians 4:6
“Let your speech be alway with grace…”
Imagine what would happen if believers applied grace to their mouths.
Speak truth—but speak it graciously.
Correct error—but do not delight in humiliating people.
C. RESTORE WITH EDIFYING SPEECH
📖 Ephesians 4:29
“…that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
Ask before speaking:
Will this build or break?
Will this heal or hurt?
Will this minister grace or multiply conflict?
🔥 PREACHING TRUTH:
A GRACE BELIEVER SHOULD HAVE A GRACE-FILLED MOUTH.
5️⃣ REPRESENT CHRIST
📖 2 Corinthians 5:20
“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ…”
When you leave the church building, your ministry does not end.
That is where much of your testimony begins.
A. REPRESENT CHRIST IN YOUR HOME
📖 Ephesians 5:25
Husbands should love their wives.
📖 Ephesians 5:33
Wives should respect their husbands.
📖 Ephesians 6:1–4
Parents and children should live according to God's order.
Your Christianity should be visible first among those who know you best.
B. REPRESENT CHRIST BEFORE OTHERS
📖 Philippians 2:15
“…shine as lights in the world.”
At work.
At school.
Online.
In traffic.
In business.
In disagreements.
Our behavior should not contradict the Gospel we preach.
C. REPRESENT CHRIST THROUGH THE GOSPEL
📖 2 Corinthians 5:19–20
God has committed unto us:
“…the word of reconciliation.”
Our greatest message is not:
“Become religious like me.”
It is:
“BE RECONCILED TO GOD.”
Point people to Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.

🔥 PREACHING TRUTH:
THE CHURCH BUILDING IS WHERE WE MAY GATHER—BUT THE WORLD IS WHERE OUR TESTIMONY IS SEEN.
📣 CALL TO ACTION — THREE “L's”
1️⃣ LEARN THE WORD
📖 2 Timothy 2:15
Study.
Rightly divide.
Know Pauline doctrine.
Do not remain spiritually dependent upon someone else feeding you once a week.
2️⃣ LIVE THE WORD
📖 Philippians 1:27
“Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ…”
Let your doctrine affect:
Your marriage.
Your family.
Your speech.
Your work.
Your relationships.
Your decisions.
3️⃣ LIFT UP CHRIST
📖 Galatians 6:14
“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ…”
Don't make your testimony:
“Look how religious I am.”
Make it:
“LOOK WHAT THE GRACE OF GOD HAS DONE THROUGH CHRIST.”
🏁 CONCLUSION — DON'T JUST GO TO CHURCH; GROW IN CHRIST
Church attendance has value.
Local church fellowship has value.
Preaching has value.
Bible study has value.
But sitting in a church building does not automatically produce spiritual maturity any more than sitting in a classroom automatically produces wisdom.
The goal is not simply:
ATTENDANCE.
The goal is:
EDIFICATION.
📖 Ephesians 4:12
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
We gather so believers can be built up in sound doctrine, and then that doctrine should operate in everyday life.
And remember:
YOUR DAILY WALK IS NOT THE BASIS OF YOUR SALVATION.
CHRIST'S FINISHED WORK IS.
But once saved:
