I would like to publicly just give a huge thank you and shout out to God! I know I'm not the best example of a little Jesus, but that doesn't change who He is, nor His love and graciousness for me. Lately, even though I have been having to face some ultimate losses, God still gently lets me know He sees me and cares about me.

I know there are many of you who are too hurt and in too much pain to open your heart right now to Him. Some of us are too angry and bitter. I've been there too.

But friend, God sees you. He loves you. He cares about what you're going through. And while it may seem like there is only silence in the distance, maybe it's because you're listening for the wrong voice.

If you're still now, you'll hear HIm. You'll hear Him gently speaking to you, drawing you to Himself.

If you've read this far, you'll find Him now. He'll reach out to you and make you whole.

Ask God to take over your life completely and surrender yourself to Jesus. I promise He's there. He's waiting to answer.

It has been reported Pope Francis has now pronounced same-sex marriage as blessed by the Catholic "church."

It offers me nothing but sadness to say, after years of attempting to mitigate the charges against the Catholic church, I can no longer believe the Catholic, the Roman Catholic Church, is a Christian religion.

The Bible teaches us there is only one God and only one way to God, through Jesus (John 14:6). Pope Francis believes and has stated there are multiple ways to God. This is in direct contradiction to Scripture and is literal heresy (a word I have never used when describing another person).

I love my Catholic friends, but you no longer attend a Christian church, if it ever was in fact, Christian. I do not hold anything against you and I hope you will forgive me for the hurt this causes, but I would rather see your soul saved through Jesus alone and you be angry at me than to be without you for eternity.

I call on all my true believer Catholic friends to leave the Roman Catholic church and get intimately involved with a church that is "Sola Scripture," teaches only what the Bible teaches, without any other authority, including "church historical practices and doctrine."

Please don't just accept my word for it. Please check these statements out for yourself. If I can be a friend and be a sounding board for discussion, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Embracing Our Golden Years: Maximizing Your Service to God

Picture this: you're sitting in a cozy armchair, surrounded by the warm glow of a crackling fireplace. Outside, the vibrant hues of autumn foliage paint a picturesque scene. As you reflect on the passing years, you can't help but notice the silver strands of wisdom adorning your temples and the gentle reminders of time etched upon your face. It's a moment of introspection, a time when questions arise: "I'm getting older. What can I do to maximize my service to God?" In the busyness of life, it's a question we may not have pondered until now. But fear not, for God's Word holds the answer. Let us journey together through the tapestry of Scripture, exploring the depths of wisdom and discovering how we can make our golden years shine brightly for the glory of God.

Scripture Verse: "Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come." - Psalm 71:18 (KJV)

Historical and Cultural Background: Psalm 71 is attributed to King David, the renowned shepherd-boy-turned-king of Israel. As David reached his later years, he was well-acquainted with the challenges and joys that accompany aging. In this heartfelt psalm, he pours out his soul to God, seeking His unfailing presence and protection. David yearns not only for God's guidance in his old age but also to declare God's strength and power to future generations.

Greek Terms and Phrases: In the original Hebrew text, the phrase used for "old and grayheaded" is "zaken ve-seibah." The word "zaken" refers to an elderly person, often connoting wisdom and honor that come with age. "Seibah" specifically refers to the gray hair that is commonly associated with old age. Together, these terms paint a vivid picture of physical markers of aging and the wisdom acquired throughout a long life. Additionally, the Hebrew term "azav" used in this verse implies abandonment or leaving behind. David, in his plea to God, humbly requests that the Lord never abandon him, even in his advanced age.

Significance and Relevance: Psalm 71:18 encapsulates the timeless desire of every believer as they journey through the golden years: to continue serving God and leaving a lasting impact on future generations. It reminds us that age does not diminish our value or potential in God's kingdom. On the contrary, our senior years present a unique opportunity to share our life experiences, wisdom, and the faithfulness of God with those who will follow in our footsteps. Our legacy becomes a testimony of God's enduring strength and power.

Did you know that Augustine of Hippo, one of the most influential theologians in history, penned his renowned work "Confessions" during his later years? Despite facing declining health and advancing age, Augustine poured out his reflections, struggles, and praises to God in this autobiography. His words continue to inspire and guide countless believers today. Just like Augustine, we too can make a lasting impact by embracing our senior years with a passionate desire to declare God's strength to the generations that follow.

As we embark on this journey through the golden years, we may notice our bodies growing weary and our energy levels waning. However, our spirit remains vibrant, and our purpose shines brightly. The psalmist's plea in Psalm 71:18 resonates within our hearts as we yearn to maximize our service to God. Here are six practical steps we can take to embrace this season fully:

1. Cherish Intimacy with God: In the midst of our changing pace of life, we have the opportunity to deepen our relationship with God. Like David, we can pray fervently and seek His presence daily. Our matured faith allows us to draw closer to Him, relying on His strength and guidance. In the quiet moments of our days, we can meditate on His Word, allowing it to nourish our souls and shape our perspectives. Just as the sun shines on a field of wildflowers, our devotion to God illuminates our lives, becoming a radiant testimony to those around us.

2. Invest in Relationships: Our senior years provide a precious gift of time and wisdom. Let us seize the opportunity to invest in relationships with intentionality. We can reach out to younger generations, offering mentorship, guidance, and encouragement. Our experiences can serve as a compass, helping them navigate the challenges they face. Additionally, we should cherish the relationships within our own age group, supporting and uplifting one another in prayer and fellowship. By fostering connections and building bridges, we create a tapestry of love and unity, strengthening the body of Christ.

3. Leave a Legacy: As we reflect on the years behind us, we can recognize the profound impact we have made on others' lives. Our legacy extends beyond material possessions; it encompasses the lives we have touched, the seeds of faith we have sown, and the example we have set. Sharing our testimonies and experiences with younger generations imparts a lasting legacy of faith, inspiring them to seek God wholeheartedly. Let us strive to be like sturdy oaks, whose shade and shelter provide comfort to those seeking solace and rest.

4. Embrace Your Wisdom: As we grow older, we accumulate a wealth of wisdom through the experiences and lessons life has taught us. Our golden years are an opportunity to share this wisdom with others. Consider becoming a mentor or volunteering in your community to offer guidance and support to those who may benefit from your knowledge. Your wisdom can be a guiding light in a world that often seeks direction and understanding. By embracing and sharing your wisdom, you can make a profound impact on the lives of those around you.

5. Serve with Your Unique Gifts: Each of us has been blessed with unique gifts and talents by our Creator. Our senior years are a time to fully utilize and share these gifts for the glory of God. Whether it's through teaching, writing, counseling, music, or any other avenue, seek out opportunities to use your talents to serve others. Your gifts, honed and enriched through a lifetime of experiences, can bring joy, encouragement, and inspiration to those who encounter them. Embrace the opportunity to maximize your service to God by employing your gifts with passion and dedication.

6. Prayer as a Powerful Ministry: Prayer is a powerful means of ministry that knows no age limits. In our golden years, we can devote more time and energy to interceding for others, our communities, and the world at large. As we spend time in communion with God, our prayers become a catalyst for transformation and a channel through which His love and grace flow. Let your prayer life flourish during this season of life, knowing that your prayers can make an immeasurable impact on the lives of countless individuals.

Dear friends, as we navigate the journey of growing older, let us remember that our golden years hold tremendous potential for service to God and the advancement of His kingdom. We can cherish intimacy with God, invest in relationships, leave a legacy, embrace our wisdom, serve with our unique gifts, and engage in the powerful ministry of prayer. These practices enable us to maximize our impact and ensure that our golden years are characterized by purpose, joy, and fulfillment.

In this season of life, take the time to reflect on the beautiful tapestry of experiences and faithfulness that God has woven into your story. Embrace the opportunities that arise, knowing that your service to God is not limited by age or physical limitations. Trust that He will continue to use you in profound ways, shining His light through your life and impacting future generations.

May your journey through the golden years be filled with an abundance of blessings, joy, and a deep sense of purpose. May you continue to seek God's strength and guidance as you navigate this season, and may your service to Him be a testament to His enduring love and faithfulness.

Remember, dear friend, you are never too old to make a difference. Your life is a testimony of God's grace, and your service to Him matters. Embrace the opportunities before you, step boldly into the calling that God has placed upon your life, and allow your golden years to radiate with the beauty of a life lived in devotion to Him.

In the tapestry of time, the golden years are a thread woven with purpose, wisdom, and the opportunity to leave a lasting impact. Let us walk this journey together, maximizing our service to God and declaring His strength to every generation that is to come.

May God bless you richly as you embark on this incredible journey of maximizing your service to Him in the golden years.

Embracing the Symphony of God's Pleasure: A Call for SilverRoots to Radiate His Glory

Beloved champions of faith, today we embark on a remarkable journey through the pages of history, uncovering a divine melody that continues to echo throughout the ages. Picture yourself standing in the magnificent temple of Solomon, surrounded by the splendor of God's dwelling place. The air is charged with anticipation as the Levitical priests prepare to consecrate the Temple, filling it with the glory of the Almighty. In the midst of this awe-inspiring moment, we encounter a passage that unveils profound truths about what it means to please God. Let us dive into the captivating words of 2 Chronicles 5:13-14 and uncover the secrets that lie within.

Scripture Passage: "When the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, 'For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever': that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God."

Historical and Cultural Background: To truly grasp the magnitude of this passage, we must transport ourselves back to a time when the Temple was the center of worship and adoration for the Israelites. The events described in 2 Chronicles took place during the dedication of Solomon's Temple, a momentous occasion marked by the completion of a sacred space where God's presence would dwell among His people. The Israelites had painstakingly followed God's instructions to construct this majestic sanctuary, which became the embodiment of their devotion and obedience.

Key Terms and Phrases:

1. Trumpeters and Singers: Skilled musicians who played trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, accompanied by a chorus of singers, joining their voices in harmonious praise.
2. Trumpets and Cymbals: Instruments symbolizing triumph and celebration, used to amplify the sound of worship.
3. House of the LORD: Referring to the Temple, the sacred dwelling place of God, where His glory was to be revealed.
4. Cloud: A visible manifestation of God's presence, signifying His glory and majesty.

Unveiling the Symphony of God's Pleasure: Imagine yourself standing amidst the gathered assembly, your heart pounding with anticipation. As the trumpets blare, and the singers raise their voices, a reverberating harmony fills the air. This moment, my dear SilverRoots, encapsulates the essence of what it means to please God.

The beauty lies not merely in the skilled musicianship or the harmonious voices, but in the unity of purpose and heartfelt adoration expressed by the people of God. In their synchronized praise, they declare the goodness and enduring mercy of the Lord. Their voices intertwine with the resounding instruments, rising as an offering of worship that ascends to the very throne of God.

Here, in the midst of this sacred symphony, let me share a fascinating true fact with you: Did you know that the cathedral organ in the Great St. Bavo Church in Haarlem, Netherlands, boasts a staggering 5,000 pipes? Each pipe, carefully crafted and uniquely tuned, contributes to the glorious sound that fills the grand space. In the same way, each one of us, as SilverRoots, possesses a distinctive voice and purpose within the body of Christ. Just as the organ relies on every pipe to produce its majestic sound, so too does the Church need each one of us, with our unique gifts and callings, to create a symphony of praise that pleases our Heavenly Father.

Application for SilverRoots:

1. Embrace Unity: Just as the trumpeters and singers were as one, let us strive for unity within our churches and communities. Despite our diverse backgrounds and experiences, we can find common ground in our love for the Lord. Let us set aside differences and unite in our purpose to exalt God's name, lifting our voices together in worship and adoration.
2. Lift Your Voice: As the trumpeters and singers lifted up their voices, let us not be timid or reserved in expressing our praise to God. Whether in the congregation, at home, or in the quiet of our hearts, let our voices resound with genuine gratitude for His goodness and mercy. Your voice, dear SilverRoots, is a unique instrument in the symphony of worship, and it brings delight to the heart of God.
3. Offer a Sacrifice of Praise: Just as the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud, we are reminded that the glory of God's presence demands reverence and awe. Let us approach our worship with hearts surrendered, offering a sacrifice of praise that reflects our love and devotion. In our SilverRoot years, we have accumulated a lifetime of experiences, joys, and trials. Let us present them all before God, trusting Him to transform them into melodies of praise.
4. Reflect God's Glory: The cloud that filled the house of the LORD symbolized His glory. As SilverRoots, we have the remarkable opportunity to reflect God's glory in our lives. Through our words, actions, and relationships, let us radiate His love, grace, and compassion to a world in need. Each day, seek ways to share the light of Christ with those around you, knowing that your life is a testimony of His faithfulness.
5. Embrace Your Unique Voice: Just as the organ in the Great St. Bavo Church harmonizes thousands of individual pipes, so too does the Body of Christ flourish when each member embraces their unique role. As SilverRoots, your wisdom, experience, and perspective are invaluable. Seek out opportunities to mentor, encourage, and support others in their faith journey. Your voice, seasoned by a lifetime of walking with the Lord, carries a powerful melody that can inspire and uplift those around you.

As we conclude this journey through 2 Chronicles 5:13-14, let's remember that pleasing God is not merely a task but a joyful privilege. Like the symphony that filled the temple with God's glory, may our lives resound with the beauty of worship and adoration. Embrace unity, lift your voice, offer a sacrifice of praise, reflect God's glory, and embrace your unique voice as a SilverRoot. As you live out these truths, may your faith shine brightly, drawing others into the symphony of God's love and grace. You are a cherished part of this grand symphony, and your devotion to pleasing God is an inspiration to us all.

"From Turmoil to Triumph: Embracing God's Purpose When Your Denomination is Out of Control!"

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

Dear SilverRoots, today's devotion carries a powerful message of hope and encouragement, tailored especially for those who find themselves navigating a challenging spiritual journey. We understand that when your denomination seems to be spiraling out of control, it can shake the very foundation of your faith. But fear not, for within the chaos lies an opportunity for growth, transformation, and renewed commitment to the calling God has placed upon your life.

The apostle Paul, writing to the Ephesian church, shares profound wisdom about our identity in Christ and the purpose for which we are created. To fully appreciate the depth of this verse, let's take a moment to dive into its historical and cultural background. In ancient Greek, the term "handiwork" is translated from the word "poiema," which signifies a work of art or masterpiece. Paul's choice of this word conveys the idea that we are God's magnificent creations, intricately crafted with love and purpose.

Key Phrases Explained:
1. "Created in Christ Jesus": This phrase emphasizes that our existence finds its ultimate meaning in our union with Christ. Through His redemptive work on the cross, we are not only forgiven but also invited into a profound relationship with our Creator.

2. "Good works": Refers to the righteous actions and deeds that flow from a transformed heart. These works are not a means of earning salvation but rather a natural outpouring of gratitude and love towards God and others.

The Wonder of the Alhambra: Before we delve deeper into the application of this scripture, let me share an inspiring fact that reveals the magnificence of God's creation. Have you heard of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain? This stunning fortress, palace, and garden complex was constructed in the 14th century and showcases the exquisite artistry of Muslim architects and artisans. What makes it even more remarkable is that it was built on the remains of a Roman fortress and transformed into a masterpiece blending Islamic and Christian influences. This fact reminds us that even in the midst of complex history, beauty can emerge when diverse elements come together under the guiding hand of God.

So What?
1. Acknowledge the Struggle: When your denomination appears to be drifting from its foundational beliefs or struggling with internal conflicts, it can be disheartening. You may experience a range of emotions, from confusion to anger and grief. Remember, you are not alone in this struggle. Take solace in knowing that throughout history, countless believers have faced similar challenges and emerged stronger in their faith.

2. Seek Truth and Wisdom: In times of uncertainty, seek solace in God's Word and prayer. Dive deep into Scripture, asking the Holy Spirit to illuminate its truth. Explore the theological foundations of your faith, examining the core tenets that align with the teachings of Jesus. By grounding yourself in truth, you can discern what is essential and what may be distractions.

3. Cultivate a Vibrant Community: Nurture relationships with fellow believers who share your commitment to God's unchanging truth. Surround yourself with a community of SilverRoots who can provide support, encouragement, and accountability. Together, you can explore ways to stay faithful to God's calling, even amidst denominational challenges.

4. Embrace the Power of Prayer: Prayer has a remarkable ability to bring clarity, peace, and divine guidance. Lift up your concerns, frustrations, and questions to God. Seek His wisdom and understanding. As you surrender control to Him, you will find comfort in knowing that He is ultimately in control, even when your denomination seems to be veering off course. Trust in His faithfulness and believe that He is working behind the scenes to bring about His purposes.

5. Stand Firm in Your Convictions: As a SilverRoot, your life experiences and wisdom hold tremendous value. Hold fast to the foundational truths of your faith that have stood the test of time. Be courageous in upholding these truths, even if they may seem countercultural or unpopular within your denomination. Remember, God's Word is unchanging, and His truth is unwavering.
6. Be a Beacon of Light: When your denomination is facing turmoil, it is an opportunity for you to shine brightly as a beacon of light and hope. Let your actions and words reflect the love and grace of Christ. Seek opportunities to serve others, both within and outside your denomination, and show the world what it means to live out your faith authentically.

7. Engage in Meaningful Dialogue: Rather than succumbing to frustration or becoming passive observers, engage in respectful and constructive dialogue within your denomination. Express your concerns with love, humility, and a desire for unity. Seek to understand different perspectives while remaining grounded in biblical truth. Remember that change often comes through open, honest conversations that prioritize God's Kingdom above personal agendas.

8. Focus on the Eternal: When faced with denominational challenges, it's crucial to keep an eternal perspective. Remember that our time on Earth is temporary, and our ultimate goal is to live for the glory of God and advance His Kingdom. Stay steadfast in your commitment to fulfilling the good works that God has prepared in advance for you to do.

Practical Application for SilverRoots:
1. Embrace the opportunities for growth and personal transformation that arise during denominational challenges. See them as invitations to deepen your faith and reliance on God.

2. Prioritize daily Scripture reading and prayer, seeking God's wisdom and guidance in navigating your spiritual journey.

3. Foster meaningful connections within your faith community, investing in relationships that provide support, encouragement, and accountability.

4. Share your wisdom and experiences with others, mentoring younger believers and passing on the legacy of faith to future generations.

5. Engage in acts of service and love, both within and beyond your denomination, embodying the compassion and grace of Christ to those around you.

6. Maintain an eternal perspective, recognizing that our ultimate purpose is to bring glory to God and advance His Kingdom, regardless of denominational challenges.

Dear SilverRoots, when your denomination is out of control, remember that God's purposes are never thwarted. He is continually at work, even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. As you navigate these challenges, hold fast to the unchanging truth of God's Word, cultivate a vibrant faith community, and live out your faith with unwavering conviction. You are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus, and your faith, forged through trials, can serve as a powerful testimony of His grace and transforming power. Stay faithful, trust in Him, and let your light shine brightly, illuminating the path for others to find hope, healing, and salvation in Christ Jesus.

Never Give Up: How Hope Helps us Persevere

Do you ever feel like giving up? Life can be challenging, and it's easy to get discouraged when things don't go as planned. But as Christians, we have a powerful weapon to help us persevere - hope.

Hebrews 10:23 says, "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." In this devotion, we'll explore the meaning of this verse and how it can inspire us to keep going, even when the going gets tough.
The book of Hebrews was written to a group of Jewish Christians who were facing persecution and temptation to return to their former way of life. The author encourages them to hold fast to their faith in Christ and not give up, reminding them of the great salvation they have received through Jesus.

In this verse, the author is exhorting his readers to hold fast to their confession of hope. What does he mean by "confession of hope"? In the original Greek, the word "confession" means to "say the same thing" or to "agree." So, the author is telling his readers to agree with each other and with God about the hope they have in Christ.

But what is this hope that the author speaks of? Hope is not just wishful thinking or a vague optimism about the future. Biblical hope is a confident expectation of good things to come based on the promises of God. It is rooted in the character of God and His faithfulness to His word.

Now, let me share with you a true fact that I find interesting and inspiring. Did you know that the oldest living tree in the world is a Great Basin Bristlecone Pine named Methuselah? This tree, located in the White Mountains of California, is over 4,800 years old! That means it has been standing since before the time of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. What an incredible witness to the enduring nature of God's creation!
Just like Methuselah, our hope in Christ is built on an unchanging foundation that endures through the ages. The same God who has been faithful throughout history is the same God who promises to be faithful to us today and in the future.
So, what does it mean to hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering? It means that we don't give up on our faith in Christ, even when we face trials and temptations. It means that we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

When we hold fast to our confession of hope, we can face life's challenges with courage and perseverance. We can trust in God's promises, even when circumstances seem bleak. We can find strength in His grace, even when we feel weak.

But holding fast to our confession of hope is not just a personal benefit. It also has a corporate dimension. When we agree with each other and with God about our hope in Christ, we become a powerful witness to the world around us. Our unity and faithfulness testify to the reality of Christ's love and power.

So, how can we apply this truth in practical ways to our lives as senior-adult Christians? Here are a few suggestions:

1. Memorize and meditate on Hebrews 10:23. Allow this verse to sink deep into your heart and mind, reminding you of the hope you have in Christ.
2. Share your hope with others. Take opportunities to share your faith with friends, family, and acquaintances. You never know who might need to hear about the hope that you have in Christ.
3. Pray for perseverance. Ask God to give you the strength and endurance to keep going when life gets tough. Remember that God is faithful, and He will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
4. Find encouragement in Christian community. Surround yourself with other believers who can pray for you, encourage you, and remind you of the hope you have in Christ.
5. Look to the future with hope. As senior-adult Christians, we may face physical limitations, health challenges, and other difficulties. But our hope is not in this world alone. We look forward to the day when we will be with Christ forever, free from all pain and suffering. Let this hope give you strength and courage in the present.

In conclusion, dear senior-adult friends in Christ, let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering. Let us trust in the faithfulness of God and the enduring nature of His promises. Let us persevere in the face of trials and temptations, knowing that our hope is built on a foundation that will never fail. And let us share our hope with the world, being a witness to the love and power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

May you be encouraged and strengthened today and always, knowing that the God who has been faithful throughout history is the same God who is faithful to you today and in the future.
