Update from the Bishop and Cabinet...Our region moves to phase 4 with no mitigations. What that means for us is: We may gather for in-person, for any purpose, in doors in groups of 50 or less! We still must have masks and social distance, but this opens the church for Bible study as well as worship services of 50 or fewer!

I hope to see you all Sunday, as long as Mother Nature cooperates!

God Bless
Pastor Russ

Bishop Frank J. Beard and members of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference Extended Cabinet are announcing today the lifting of suspension of in-person worship in churches and moving back to regional mitigation based upon four metrics:

Test positivity rate of less than 12 percent, based upon a 7-day rolling average
Hospital bed availability of more than 20 percent in Intensive Care Units, based upon a 3-day rolling average
Hospital medical and surgical bed availability of more than 20 percent, based upon a 3-day rolling average
A decrease in Covid-19 patients in the hospital, based upon a 7-day rolling average

As a result, based upon today’s metrics in these four areas, Regions 2, 3 and 7 will move from Tier 3 mitigations to Tier 2 effective immediately. Regions 4, 5 and 6 remain in Tier 3 mitigations until the metrics meet guidelines outlined in the IGRC.

For those moving to Tier 2:
For regular worship gatherings, churches are strongly recommended but not required to limit their gatherings to 25 people or 25% of the room capacity, whichever is smaller
For all other gatherings, including funerals and weddings, gatherings should be limited to 10 people or less
Church buildings can open with staff working the offices
In all situations, masks are required without a doctor’s certification that the person is exempt and social distancing of 6 feet or more should be observed.

Current metrics by region as of Tuesday, Jan. 12 are as follows:

Region 2 (London Mills and Cuba) – Moves to Tier 2 mitigation
11 consecutive days of positivity rates below 12 percent – MEETS GUIDELINE
11 consecutive days of ICU beds availability of greater than 20 percent – MEETS GUIDELINE
11 consecutive days of medical/surgical bed availability of greater than 20 percent – MEETS GUILDELINE
9 days of Covid-19 patient decreases – MEETS GUIDELINE

I hope to see you all Sunday morning! May God bless you and may you be a blessing to others!

While I was thinking about all that went on yesterday in Washington DC, I heard this song by Danny Gokey on the radio. You can click the link below to hear it. What a wonderful answer to what it is that we need. We need to keep it real simple; LOVE GOD AND LOVE PEOPLE!
It is through love that we can change the world. Jesus said: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:36-40; NIV).

I kept this video real simple. Thanks for watching! For those wondering, the reason it says featuring Michael W. Smith is because he is playing the keyboard/...

Bishop Frank J. Beard has released the following statement regarding the situation unfolding at the U.S. Capitol today:

"Members and friends of the IGRC:

"Our hearts are broken as we witness a very unfortunate moment in American history. I call upon each one of you to join me in praying for our nation and for its leaders.

"{I ask you to pray with me for the peaceful transfer of presidential and congressional power.

"I remind us all of the paraphrased words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., 'we must live together as brothers (and sisters ) or we will perish as fools.'

"Please join me in praying The Lord's Prayer at the top of each hour, as you are able, for the next 24 hours.

"Please join me in prayer:
'Lord, in your mercy, bring peace and healing to our nation and to our world. Help us to walk together in peace and in love for you and for one another. In Jesus name, Amen.'"
