Today is the first Sunday of September, which is the 9th month in our calendar. In Biblical Numerology, the number 9 is the number of the Fruit of the Spirit and the Gifts of the Spirit. One of my favorite verses is found in Job 22:28 where it says, “You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways.” (Amplified Bible). I believe that the month of September can be a month where we see the Gifts of the Spirit becoming more manifested in greater degree as well as more of the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives.

I was reminded of the time when Jesus healed the two blind men. Matthew 9:27-28 says, “When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”

People often wonder if it is God’s will to heal. The only source of truth we have on this or any other matter is the Word of God. Throughout the Gospels we see time and time again that everywhere Jesus went in His earthly ministry, He healed and delivered people. Notice in Matthew 9 that when the blind men came to Jesus, He turned the responsibility for their healing over to them. When He asked, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”, He was getting them to draw on their faith. Different times when Jesus healed someone He was quoted as saying, “Your faith has made you whole.” There is no doubt that it was God’s will that the two blind men be healed. But in order for them to receive the miracle they wanted, they had to take the responsibility for the manifestation of the miracle by exercising their faith. Jesus is asking the same thing of each of us today. If we are going to see the extraordinary become the norm in our lives, then we must be responsible for exercising our faith, expecting God’s Word to come to pass in our lives. The greatest miracle we will ever receive is the forgiveness of sin. Have you received that miracle? If not, do so today while there is still time.

God's faithfulness is not based on yours - it it based on His and He never changes - Numbers 23:19

You are not too broken to be loved, not too lost to be found and not too far gone to be found - Luke 15:24

The enemy would like you to think that God's silence means that He has left, but many times the quiet is where God does His best
and deepest work - Psalm 46:10

As I sat to prepare this week’s Pastor's Corner, the Holy Spirit impressed on me what to share. When you look at what is going on in the world we live in and in America, it is obvious that we are in the last days and Jesus is coming soon. Apostle Paul described the last days in his letter to Timothy and it sure describes today. He wrote, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV).

As we look around, we must all be sure of our salvation through Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 tells us, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” This may come as a surprise to some, but sadly there will be people in hell that others would say were good people. And on the other hand, there will be people in Heaven who lived bad lives, but they repented of their sin. You can be a good person, relatively speaking, but you’re not good enough. You may think you will get to Heaven on your own good works, but of course you won’t. Ephesians 2:8-9 says that as Christians, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Being good doesn’t get you to Heaven.

The Bible tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) But it also says, “There is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Jesus Christ.” (1Timothy 2:5). There’s only one way to Heaven, and that is being forgiven by God. Heaven is not for good people; it’s for forgiven people. So, the real question is this: Are you forgiven? Have you received forgiveness of your sins that comes only through Jesus Christ? If not, do so today while there is still time and you have the opportunity.
