First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake, Illinois

First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake, Illinois Seeking to engage all people in the loving spirit of the living Christ. Independent thinking is encouraged. FCC is affiliated with the United Church of Christ.

Founded in 1842, the First Congregational Church serves Crystal Lake and the surrounding communities. FCC is a place of creative and warm energy where people gather for spiritual growth, fellowship and to make the world a better place. We are Christian but not creedal. We seek to integrate head, heart and hand into a meaningful faith for today. Throughout our history, we have engaged in such causes

as women's rights, abolishing slavery, civil rights, and social justice. We participate in ministries of compassion, advocacy, and reconciliation. We are committed to interfaith cooperation and dialogue. We support many busy programs, such as Christian Education for all ages and a Music program with six vocal choirs (pre-school through adult) and five handbell choirs (4th grade through adult). The entire church facility is accessible for people with physical disabilities, and available for use by the larger community. Our outreach to the world is diverse and wide-ranging. The philosophy of FCC focuses on cultivating loving relationships with both God and with the human family. We welcome all ages and stages of life and provide an encouraging, educational, sharing, and nurturing environment. Each spiritual journey is encouraged and supported. Whoever you are, and where ever you are on life's journey, you're welcomed here!

Grateful to the Northwest Herald - Shaw Local for this article about our 158 year old sanctuary and our 182 years of serving Crystal Lake and McHenry County. I hope you will join us as we seek to repair and preserve this sacred place that stood against slavery in 1850, founded Friendship House of Crystal Lake, started Lakeside Festival At The Dole, helped start Crystal Lake Food Pantry, and so much more! With your help - imagine what we can do in the next 183 years!
