I wanted to share this event in case anyone is looking for a meaningful way to spend Flag Day and celebrate the 251st Birthday of the U.S. Army.

On June 14, a headstone unveiling ceremony will be held for Pvt. James Stanley Jester, a World War II soldier who was killed in action while serving with the 45th Infantry Division. Pvt. Jester’s remains were brought home in 1948, and he was laid to rest at Glen Haven Cemetery on 4 August 1948. Sadly, for the past 78 years, he has rested in an unmarked grave. That will finally change.

Ceremony begins at 11:00 am

Also buried at Glen Haven Cemetery are 13 other men from Anne Arundel County who gave their lives during World War II. If you attend, you'll have the opportunity to pay your respects not only to Pvt. Jester, but also to these local heroes whose sacrifice helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

I hope you'll consider joining us
Thank you so much.

These men.
These Medal of Honor recipients carry the weight of all those that no longer have a voice. You can see that weight as they recite this poem. Thank you to all that have served.
