Three remarkable UUCHV youth came of age this past Sunday in a moving rite of passage that marks the transition from childhood to youth.

A central part of the Coming of Age journey is writing a personal credo. The word credo comes from the Latin phrase meaning “I believe.” Our youth began their statements with the words, “Today, I believe…” because Unitarian Universalists affirm that revelation is not sealed; our beliefs continue to grow and evolve throughout our lives.

The service also included a Bridging Ceremony, inviting our graduating senior to symbolically cross from youth into young adulthood, supported by the love and encouragement of the congregation.

Adding to the celebration, our wonderful choir sang True Colors in honor of Pride Month and in recognition of our Coming of Age youth.

After the service, join India Wood for a workshop on climate grief and building a resilient community. India will lead the group through a communal climate grief ritual, and then guide the conversation toward how we can build a more resilient and more connected congregational community moving forward -- both within the walls of UUCHV as well as into the broader Hudson River Valley community. Participants are invited (but not required) to bring to the conversation one sacred object that reminds them of their connection to the land.

Rev. Daniel is excited to return to the pulpit- and to co-preach with ministerial aspirant India Wood, of Union Theological Seminary this Sunday, May 17th at our 10am Worship Service. Together, Rev. Daniel and India invite us to consider our region, the Hudson River, and our connection and responsibility to life all around us. "For a few brief days, the world got to experience collective wonder and exhilaration through the crew of the Artemis II spacecraft as they circled the moon and came back to Earth. "Moon joy" has awakened in me a curiosity about what it really means to thrive, and how we can make such a thing available to everyone." Rev. Dr. Michael Tino, our affiliated Minister.
Join us this Sunday, May 10th at our 10am Worship Service.

Repost from

In the most recent Mosaic newsletter, Rev. Michael J. Crumpler offers a reflection on the ways oppression can continue shaping us long after the visible violence ends.

He writes about isolation, grief, disconnection, shame, anger, and exhaustion—not as personal failures, but as symptoms of systems designed to harm.

But the reflection also offers another truth:
“If oppression can be internalized, so can liberation.”

Healing, then, becomes more than personal work. It becomes communal, spiritual, and political work. The work of learning new ways to care for one another—and ourselves.
