When we first start praying, it’s easy to treat prayer like a wish list. We ask God for better things, easier days, and fewer problems. And that’s okay, God cares about our needs!

But Jesus actually taught us to start our prayers differently.

He said to pray like this:
“Your name be honored.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done.”

That means the first thing on our prayer list should be God Himself,
His glory, His plans, and His purposes.
Then everything else follows after that.

Think of it this way:
❌ Prayer is NOT like calling for room service
“God, bring me what I want.”

✅ Prayer IS like a soldier radioing headquarters
“God, what do You need from me?
Give me the strength to do it.”

John Piper said it perfectly:
🔥 “Prayer is a wartime walkie-talkie, not an intercom to the butler.”

If you are new to faith, this is one of the most important things you can learn, prayer is not just about changing your situation.
It is about staying connected to God so He can change you.

Start small. Just talk to Him today.
Tell Him you want His will, not just your own.
That is where real prayer begins.
