Funeral Services for Phyllis Ann Burgess, age 72, of Crossville, Tennessee, will be conducted on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Mayland Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Jason Dyer will officiate with interment to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery/Pleasant Hill New Cemetery. Phyl was born on August 8, 1953, in Crossville, Tennessee, to the late Robert Murphy Randolph Sr. and Ida Bell Brown Randolph. Phyl passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Phyl was an art designer working with the Crossville Chronicle, Fairfield Glade weekly paper, Trade-A-Plane, and Cumberland General Store. She was a member of Mayland Church of the Nazarene where she found great joy working with the children and being very involved with the children’s ministry. Phyl was a devoted Christian, enjoyed attending church, and reading her bible. She enjoyed flowers, worked at Lee’s Greenhouse, and cleaned St. Raphael's Episcopal Church for many years. Phyl was a very humble person, enjoyed helping people and always saw to attending to others needs before her own. She loved her family, grandchildren, and God with all her heart. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Monte Burgess of Crossville, TN; daughter, Lynell Hicks (Reinold Pedde) of Crossville, TN; son, Shiloh (Karen) Burgess of LaVergne, TN; grandchildren, Piper Burgess, Addison Hicks, Rory Burgess, Makaila Hicks, Sadie Burgess, Teagan Burgess, Willow Burgess, Mia (Austin) Brown; great grandchildren, Tyler, Hilary, and Emelia; sisters, Phoebe Mahaney of Mayland, TN, Sharon (Randy) Jackson of Crossville, TN; brother, Murphy Randolph Jr. of Cookeville, TN; special friend, Carolyn Brewer of Crossville, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Brewer. The family will receive friends at Mayland Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 1:00 PM until time of services at 3:00 PM. Arrangements and Care provided by D.M. A lot of things are happening at Mayland Church of the Nazarene. One of our greatest blessings is to see our youth commit themselves to the service of our Lord Jesus. This past Sunday we saw four baptized in the faith.
Thanks to Monterey Church of the Nazarene for allowing us the use of your sanctuary and baptistery.

On behalf of Sister Martin and Carolyn they wanted to say thank you for the beautiful flower arrangement with the cross.
Bro. Martin enjoyed the time he preached at Mayland and loved seeing the growth. He was also honored to be asked to preach at the Sunday morning service in October 2024. It meant more to him than you realize and it was the last time he felt well enough to stand and preach in a church. The family appreciates your love and support during this time we love you.
