Did you know an amazing volunteer took a week of her personal time to make sure our spaces were ready for open house this weekend??

It can be intimidating to check your kids into a new space for the first time without knowing what to expect. Or to invite your neighbor to church when you don’t know how to answer questions about kids ministry.

Stop by open house this Sunday after church to take a tour, meet our volunteers and ask your questions!

In this week’s Bible story, Jesus taught that people who follow Him are to love even when it costs them something and even if they are not shown love and kindness in return. Jesus taught that we are to even love our enemies. Kids learned that Jesus is our example of how to love. As you are out and about this week, talk about times when it is hard to love others and times when it is easy. Help your kids see that they can love like Jesus, even when it is hard.

This week we taught kids that they can trust like Jesus. In Matthew 6, Jesus told people not to worry but to remember how God provides for His creation. God loves and cares for us more than the birds in the sky or the flowers in the fields. God loves us so much; He sent Jesus for us. Take a walk and enjoy creation, celebrating what God has made and how we can trust the Creator of everything to take care of us.

I scream, you scream, we all scream that is going to be REALLY hot outside tomorrow night. We plan on cooling off by dipping our feet into some nice refreshing ice cream!
Leave those new school shoes at home if you are in 2nd-5th grade.

Younger groups will be staying inside and eating ice cream like normal people.

Jesus explained in the book of Matthew that we are called to choose kindness and care about people, even when we do not think they deserve it. God made us to help others because we love Him, not because we want their praise. Kids learned that Jesus is the greatest example of serving because He came to serve us. Take time this week to pray with your kids for opportunities to serve like Jesus.

In Matthew 7, Jesus explained that when we listen to and follow Him, we are like people who built their house on rock. Winds and storms will come, but a house stands strong when it is built on the right foundation. Jesus taught that we can live like Him by having the right foundation—a relationship with Him.

In 1 Kings 17 there was a famine, and a prophet named Elijah trusted God to take care of him. God worked through a widow to provide food for Elijah as well as for her household. Like Elijah trusted God, we can have hope—meaning we trust that something good will happen—when we believe and follow God.

What are some good things your family is hoping for in this new school year?
