September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month.
HOPE HAS A FUTURE — Su***de Prevention Awareness Month
This picture means more to me than words can express.
I recently found it while going through old boxes, and it immediately brought back so many memories.
This was the first time Sarina and I saw each other after our accidents.
Our accidents happened just three days apart. Sarina experienced a traumatic brain injury, and I experienced a spinal cord injury.
Our injuries were different, but our journeys had so much in common. We were both told we might not survive. We both faced countless hours of therapy. We both had to relearn how to live life in ways we never imagined.
From the beginning, Sarina has been an inspiration to me. Watching her determination and progress reminded me that healing isn't about comparing our journeys. It's about continuing forward, one day at a time.
When I look at this picture today, I don't see two young women defined by tragedy.
I see two survivors.
I see resilience.
I see hope.
And I see how far we've both come.
That's the lesson I want to begin this week with:
When you're in the middle of a difficult season, you may not be able to see what the future holds. But not being able to see it doesn't mean there isn't a future.
September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and this week's theme is Hope Has a Future.
If you're struggling today, please don't underestimate what can change with time, perseverance, and the support of others. And if someone you love is struggling, reach out. Let them know they don't have to face it alone.
You may not be able to see the whole future from where you are today—but hope has a future. 💛
