🇺🇸 We Remember — September 11, 2001

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation awoke to a morning that would forever change us.

Nearly 3,000 lives were lost. Families said goodbye without knowing it would be the last time. First responders ran toward danger while others were running away. In the days and years that followed, countless families carried grief that no anniversary can erase.

Today, we remember.

We remember the lives that were taken. We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military personnel, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage. We remember the husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters whose lives were forever changed.

And as the Church, we remember that in a world where suffering and death are painfully real, our hope is found in Jesus Christ.

“God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.”
— Psalm 46:1

Twenty-five years later, there are still families for whom September 11 is far more than a page in a history book. It is personal. We pray that the God of all comfort would draw near to them today.

May we also remember how precious life is, love our neighbors well, pray for our nation, and never take for granted the freedoms and blessings God has given us.

Above all, may we point a hurting world to the One who has conquered death and offers everlasting hope.

We remember September 11, 2001. We honor those we lost. We pray for those who remain. And we place our hope in Christ. 🇺🇸

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
— Matthew 5:4

One year ago today, Charlie Kirk was taken from this world.

We remember him not merely as a political voice or a public figure, but as a man who boldly professed the name of Jesus Christ and was unwilling to remain silent about what he believed to be true.

As a church, we are reminded that following Christ has never come with a promise of comfort or safety. Jesus told His disciples, “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:20).

Yet the Gospel cannot be silenced.

Throughout the history of the Church, opposition has never stopped the advance of Christ’s Kingdom. The voices of individual Christians may be taken from us, but the Word of God remains. The mission continues. Christ is still building His Church.

Today, one year later, we remember Charlie Kirk and pray for his family and all those who continue to grieve his loss. We also pray that his death would remind Christians everywhere of the urgency of our calling:

Stand firm. Speak the truth. Love your neighbor. Proclaim Christ. Do not be ashamed of the Gospel.

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
— Philippians 1:21

May we be found faithful.

Christ is King. His Gospel will advance. His Kingdom will have no end.

This past Saturday, we had the privilege of going to the University of Florida and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to thousands of students and visitors.

We didn’t go because we have all the answers. We went because we know the One who does.

The message is simple: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. There is forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life in Him. And this good news was never meant to stay within the walls of our churches.

Jesus commanded us:

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” — Mark 16:15

Paul asks in Romans 10:14:

“How will they hear without a preacher?” — Romans 10:14

There are people all around us who desperately need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Our neighborhoods are a mission field. Our workplaces are a mission field. Our schools and universities are mission fields.

May God give His Church the courage to go.

To speak.

To love our neighbors enough to tell them the truth.

And to proclaim without shame that Jesus Christ is Lord.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” — Romans 1:16

All glory belongs to God. May every seed that was planted at UF bear fruit for His Kingdom.

🐊 Gators for the Gospel.
✝️ Christ is King.
📖 Preach the Word.
