Jesus, Got Up

“if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain”
1 Corinthians 15:14.

On the Sunday, after His crucifixion and death, Jesus Christ did what no other has ever done. He Got Up! Jesus Christ delivered death its deciding blow. Buddha did not. Muhammad did not. Confucius did not.
People like to call Jesus a good teacher and a great prophet, but His resurrection places Him in a class all by Himself. He is the risen Lord. And because of that, He is the only One through whom salvation can be granted. After all, you cannot place living faith in a dead Savior.
You may have lived a very good life, but “very good” is not good enough. So it is with sin. On your best day, you still sin. You can go to church continually, sleep at the church, eat in the church, do your work at the church and die in the church, but it is not good enough to satisfy a holy God. Only Christ’s death and resurrection will count.
If the resurrection didn’t matter, then the stone would have stayed right where it had been placed. The angel didn’t roll the stone away so Jesus could get out. Jesus had already risen! Jesus didn’t need help exiting a grave. The angel of the Lord rolled the stone away to show that the tomb is empty and Jesus is alive.
The angel rolled the stone away for all to see: for the women who came first, for the disciples and finally, for us. God wanted us to see that evil had lost its victory because Jesus had defeated the grave.

Patience and Hope

“Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus.” Hebrews 12:1

Where do we find the strength for this grueling, often disheartening, race that is the Christian life? It is only found in fixing our gaze upon the God-man. Only as we look to Jesus do we find the persevering grace to run and not be weary, to walk and not faint.

To truly see Christ is to be transformed by the sight. There is no such thing as looking at Jesus and not being changed.

Do you struggle with personal holiness? Look to Jesus, and be reminded of the humbleness your perfect Savior. Are you wrestling with grief? Look to Jesus, and be comforted by the sovereign goodness of your God. Have you given into temptation? Look to Jesus, and see the forgiveness that pours from those cross wounds.

Only an unclouded, view of Jesus can inspire us to faith, and give us the strength that we will need for faithful living. If we see our strength diminishing, this is a certain indicator that our gaze has dropped, that our eyes are not fixed upon Jesus as they ought to be. The hymn writer states:
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace."

It’s Time to Praise God

“I will praise the Lord at all times; his praise is always on my lips.” Psalm 34:1

"In happy moments, praise the Lord. Sad moments, praise the Lord. Painful moments, praise the Lord. In all things, praise the Lord." Ever so often, I like to take a little time out to just praise the Lord. God has been too good to all of us not to let Him know just how grateful we are for all He do.
Right now, you may be in need of a miracle and nothing looks to be coming your way. Your health may not be good, the spouse and/or the kids are acting crazy but that's okay. No matter what is going on, you still can praise God for His goodness.
In spite of what I am going through, God I thank You for your mercy, Your goodness and Your grace. I thank You that even though sometimes I am not deserving of it, you still bless me. I'm thankful for every open door, and every closed one. I thank You for Your hand of protection, keeping me and covering me in those times when I didn't even know I needed to be covered.
Forgive me Lord for all the times when I have just taken and taken from You, not giving anything back in return. I'm sorry. Search my heart and remove anything that blocks me, binds me, hinders me and holds me back. Help me to be free to love, to be at peace, to have joy, to be courageous, faithful and holy. Help me to see You even when the enemy is trying to convince me otherwise.
I thank You Lord, for being my Help, my Hope, my Joy, my Peace, my Strength, and my greatest Love.. Lord, let me chase after Your heart; not just today but all the days of my life. Amen

What is on Your Priority List

James 4:8, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

Many Christians around the world struggle finding time to spend alone with God.
There are many theories about why people who profess to love God with all their heart, can’t carve out time in their day to worship Him. It’s not that they don’t ‘want’ to, but rather feel they have so much going on in their busy lives - they barely have time to do the basics, so time to worship becomes something they aspire to, but don’t view as a necessity.
One of the reasons is simply people lose sight of just ‘who’ God is. If you view God as anything less than who He is - a loving, caring, all powerful, King of the Universe God - then the level of importance to spend time with him is greatly diminished. God isn’t a ‘scorekeeper,’ who bases His love for you on how much time you spend with Him.

That’s not the reason to worship Him.

He loves you more than you could possibly comprehend and when you truly understand the depths of His love for you - worshiping Him is not a chore - but a privilege that you look forward to. In fact, you no longer ‘try and fit time in,’ but spending time with Jesus climbs to the top of your priority list!
It is during alone time with your heavenly Father, that you gain wisdom, patience, love for your fellow human, and your soul is refreshed, giving you everything you need to face your day.

Genuine Faith

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41:10

Many people who think they have faith in God are actually dominated by fears and doubts—overwhelmed by the circumstances of their lives. Are you? What is it that makes you anxious today? Is there something you fear you’ll never achieve or receive?
Understand genuine faith means realizing God wants to provide His very best for you and will not let you miss it as you walk with Him. True, sometimes what He perceives as best for you is different from what you do. But take heart, the One who created you ultimately knows what will truly satisfy your soul—even better than you do.
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. "Isaiah 41:10 e has something far better planned for you.

Forgiveness is Required

Matthew 6:14, “If you forgive others their sins, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Whenever someone has hurt our feelings, done us wrong, or has treated us unfairly, it’s human nature to dislike that person who hurt us, or even become bitter and angry. And the longer all those ugly feelings are allowed to stay in our hearts, the stronger the w**d of hate grows, until eventually, it destroys any hope of happiness. God wants us to live the abundant life He has planned for us and that’s the reason He has commanded us to “forgive.” Notice the requirement of the forgiveness of “our” sins - “IF you forgive others.” When we are hurt so deeply that it’s not possible for us to “forgive,” we can pray and ask God to put forgiveness in our hearts - and He will give us Holy Spirit power to forgive! And when we do, His sweet peace will flow through us and all that bitterness and anger will melt away! Forgiveness is required by God - because our eternal life depends on it!

Showing Off

Matthew 6:1-4, “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them...”

Helping others is something God wants you to do - but He also wants you to do it for the right reasons. Giving money to a homeless man because you think someone is watching, or serving food at a soup kitchen so you can brag to your friends - is not what God has in mind. Jesus makes it very clear that when you help others - you do so with humility and without expecting anything in return.
When you unselfishly reach out to someone in need, you are putting God’s love in action! And it doesn’t matter that others notice - it only matters that God does. Above all, He knows your heart and He knows whether or not your motives are pure.
Hebrews 6:10 says, “God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.”
Proverbs 19:17, says, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward them for what they have done.” More important than any earthly reward or gain - is your “heavenly reward.”
So, share God’s love to others for the “right reasons,” and . . . don’t be a showoff!

Do We Deserve Grace

Ephesians 4:7 - “But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.”

Someone once said, “Grace is when God gives us what we DON’T deserve and mercy is when God DOESN’T give us what we do deserve.” Without God’s grace and mercy - everyone would be lost!
David called for God’s mercy quite often: “Answer me, Lord, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me.” Of course, everyone desires God’s grace and mercy, and eagerly request it - but how many actually extend God’s compassion to those who are not deserving?
When we make a decision that affects someone else - do we hold them up to a higher standard? Do we demand justice? If God demanded “justice,” that would require each of us to pay for our own sins - and everyone would be cast out of heaven for all eternity! Jesus forgave us for our sins and made a way for our salvation through His death on Calvary even though we didn’t deserve it.
One thing that God asks us to do - is to love each other and to treat each other as we would want to be treated. Now, that doesn’t mean He wants us to lie down and be a rug that everyone walks over - but it does mean - we should demonstrate His love, grace and mercy toward others.

Are You Focused

“Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.” Psalm 25:4

People everywhere are stressed, overworked, overloaded and trying to get more done than our ancestors could ever have believed possible. Multi-tasking has grown to a whole new level, leaving many confused as to what their priorities are.
When you lose your focus of what’s most important, you tend to move from one thing to the next without finishing anything. Not only is it impossible to do your best but you’ll soon wear yourself out both physically and emotionally.
The only way to avoid this race is to allow God to rule your calendar. Allow Him to take control, set your priorities and prayerfully follow God’s plan for your life.
When you are getting your marching orders from our Lord and Savior, following the path He leads and obeying His commands - you’ll no longer have stress-filled days or walk around in a stupor not knowing what to do next.
If you desire a close relationship with God then pray and ask Him to come into your heart and life. And don’t forget to pray for wisdom, strength and courage to follow Him.
When Jesus was here on earth, He never once lost His focus. He knew the job He was sent to do and did not get distracted.
It’s time to check your focus and make sure you are giving your time, talents, and energy to what God wants for your life - and not on what others want you to do. Your heavenly goal is far more important than anything this world has to offer.
