I've been reading in Psalms, and I came across Psalm 42. There are times I long for God and for hope. Psalm 42:1-3,8,11 (NRSV):

As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me continually, "Where is your God?"
By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my live.
Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.
I know the thirst for God during the desperate times. God is here. Verse 8 stood out for me with the idea of God's song being with me. I find that music is a form of prayer and to know that I can listen to him sing to me brings me hope. Read the whole Psalm and know that God is with you.

Please join the Cromwell United Methodist Church with another sing-spiration! We had a small gathering last year and hope to build on that experience! We are holding this informal sing on Sunday afternoon, 9/27/26 at 2:00 pm.

We will be singing some of your selected favorites, we will be able to enjoy a few musical specials, and hopefully reunite with some old friends and meet new friends.

Looking for volunteers to help support our fellowship in song. If you love to share thru song, please let me know by messenger.

Everyone needs to eat! We need to drink! Some of us have, and eat, way too much, while others don't have enough. There's a cat in the background of my picture. He is very well fed and he always wants more! We are taught to share but how good at are we? Giving is a major part of the Christian life. James 2:15-17 says,
"If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,' and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead." (NRSV)
Faith and works go together. God calls us to serve, to give, and to share.

Loneliness is an epidemic in our society. That's what I've been told and I believe it. So many people are alone, either physically, emotionally or spiritually. We need each other. Now Feliz here is probably not lonely, but she looks it. Actually, she is trying to wake me up by turning on the light. Maybe she is lonely! Pets can help us when we are lonely, but we need human interaction, and preferably loving interaction. We also need time with God.
Palm 25:16-17 says: "Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart and bring me out of distress." And we find in Deuteronomy 31:8 "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed." God is with us and our church family is important. We need to be together. If you are lonely, turn to God and to the family of God.

It's so hot and I am constantly thirsty. God provides for us. We have wells and refrigerators. Many places do not have clean water, and they need us to help in God's name. The main thing today is that God promises to provide. One day, God will provide, without price, for those who hunger and thirst. In Isaiah 55:1, we read:
"Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."
On this hot day, may we drink of the waters that God provides and may we share that abundance.

This picture's color on the leaves reminds me of a flame. I took it by using the zoom on my phone. As I am thinking about Pentecost Sunday, I remember the flames that appeared on the heads of those in the upper room. In Acts 2 we read,
"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability."
Is your heart and soul filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit? If it is, what are you going to do with it? Are you going to sit in a pew, or are you going to go out into the world and start a fire of love, peace, and grace? The church was begun when the Holy Spirit came upon them and they witnessed to the crowd that had gathered. May a crowd gather around you as you speak and act through the power of the Holy Spirit. May they feel the grace of God from you.
