Community UMC was born in the 70s and has grown along with the community of Crofton. We are a diverse church with members across age, ethnicity, economic and political spectrums. We value intergenerational connection. Our task is to be the Tangible expression of God’s Kingdom by exploring how we can better love God, one another, and our world. We are on mission, 24-7, to love the people of Crofton into relationship with Jesus Christ.

We are thrilled to announce Jill Spann will join the Community UMC staff as our Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministries on Monday, June 15!

You may recognize Jill as a familiar face, as she’s attended worship with us for the last few months. Both in and out of the pew, she intentionally keeps an open seat next to her, ready to welcome anyone who may feel alone, uncomfortable, uncertain, or simply in need of a friend.

Community United Methodist Church of Crofton seeks a passionate, servant-hearted leader to help nurture and grow our ministries with children, youth, and families.

This full-time role will:
• Lead Christian formation for children (birth–5th grade) and youth (6th–12th grade)
• Partner with families to build strong, faith-centered connections
• Collaborate with our pastor, dedicated servant leaders, and local faith communities
• Help cultivate a vibrant, welcoming environment where everyone belongs

THANK YOU to Bowie Elks Lodge #2309 for their generosity! Last week, they delivered a $1,000 donation for our Backpack Meals Program! Serving over 80 students across six schools in Crofton, the Backpack Meals program provides weekend food support for students facing food insecurity.

We are so grateful for the continued support from the Bowie Elks Lodge and the generosity of our community. Together, we can ensure every child has the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and thrive, even beyond the school week.
