As a Malay-speaking missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in Singapore and Malaysia, Hannah Richards of the La Grange 1st Ward taught and helped baptize people from Malaysia, Singapore, China, India, Myanmar, and the Philippines, and she loved that her mission felt so international. She explains, "The coolest thing about their culture is the fact that there are many different ethnic and religious groups living in unity. For the most part people are so accepting of others no matter how different they are. The second you walk into a church building there it feels like walking into your own home surrounded by family."

The most important thing Hannah learned on her mission is "how important prayer is as a way to connect with our Heavenly Father, and He is so ready to pour out revelation." She worked hard, and she says, "My best advice for future missionaries is to learn to love hard work. A mission is so much work, but the more of your heart and soul you put into it, the more rewarding it is."

Hannah got used to the constant tropical heat and humidity of Singapore and Malaysia as a missionary. Soon she will experience a different climate as she continues her education at Brigham Young University. She will bring with her a strong testimony of Jesus Christ: "He is a personal Savior, and we really truly need Him and His grace. If we try to be perfected on our own, we will only find ourselves disappointed. But if we learn to really rely on Him and invite Him into our lives, our individual sacrifices can be made whole through His eternal sacrifice."
