Greetings One-and-All --
LAST SUNDAY:
Our Thanksgiving Service was wonderful, filled with the mighty Spirit of Thanks and Giving! The special blessing of the day was Shelby Ross, Scott Ross's daughter, and her flute. Scott is our Music Director at CCC. As I said, Shellby brought her flute with her -- and that was a great idea! She played for us a lot ... and we smiled a lot.

Also, it was a blessed sight indeed to see Hattie Downs back at morning worship service last Sunday. She shares a spirit and shines a light that only few can. God bless you Hattie ... you're in our prayers.
THIS SUNDAY:
Tomorrow kicks off our Advent season. It's the First Sunday of Advent -- the Sunday of Hope. This year, in addition to the traditional Advent wreath lighting ceremony during the Sunday service, we are also all participating in a daily devotional series called 'I Am Mary." It consists of a daily reading, and a daily audio recording that is emailed to you daily. The devotions were written by Carol Howard Merritt. There may still be a few free copies of her book in the sanctuary lobby.
By the way, If you want to get the daily recording emailed to you, and you are not getting the regular church emails, or you would like it emailed to you to a different address, then please let me know ASAP.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISES:
As we celebrate the beginning of Advent tomorrow, let us prepare this evening before sleep time to thank God for the bounty of blessings that God has gifted us with. Think of a few of those things in particular (or maybe it's just one!), and spend some time tonight praying and thanking God for these things -- and then read the scripture for the First Sunday of Advent -- Luke 1:26-38 (below). And be sure to ask God to send the Holy Spirit to you so that you can listen to the Spirit read scripture instead of you!
SCRIPTURE FOR FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT 2025: LUKE 1:26-38
The Birth of Jesus Foretold
26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”[a] 29 But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. 30 The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” 34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”[b] 35 The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born[c] will be holy; he will be called Son of God. 36 And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.” 38 Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.
Come worship with us tomorrow ... and be willing to tell God that you are ready ... to begin ... not knowing what or where ... but whatever and wherever God desires ... let my will be yours. I am ready, God!
