Christmas: a Time to Forget and thereby…… grow strong

“Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? Jesus said unto him, until seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:21-22

Remember when (fill in the blank ) That is a question we hear a lot this time of the year. Remembering with family and friends, we browse through Christmas gone by, enjoying the memories until inevitably, we stumble across the memories we would rather forget.

Suddenly the pain comes rushing back. The sting of a parents criticism, the broken promises of a friend, the rejections, the disappointments, the heartaches.

What should we do with memories like that?
Do we have to drag them along, like so much baggage, from year to year?

No. We can leave them behind. In fact we must leave them behind.
And there’s only one way to do it – through forgiveness.

Forgiving someone sounds like a simple thing to do. Yet few of us can actually do it.
We treat forgiveness as if it were one of life’s additional options, something we can take, or leave alone. But it’s not. It’s a basic requirement for every believer.

All those bits of unforgiveness that seem so insignificant are the very things that satan uses to keep us from the joy and freedom the Lord has for us.

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the unforgiveness in you.
Make this Christmas not just a time of remembering, but make it a time to forget,
so the joy of the Lord can fill your life.

Nehemiah 8:10 says “The joy of the Lord is your strength”

Joy is not a warm happy feeling you get when things are going well.
Joy is not just a state of mind. It is not a fleeting emotion.
Joy is a very real force, and Satan doesn’t have anything that can stand up against it.

Joy is one of the most powerful forces in the world.
Nehemiah is saying that joy is strength. That’s what makes joy so critical.
You can’t live a life of faith without being strong in the Lord.
When God want to makes you strong, joy is what he uses to accomplish it.

Since joy is one of the fruits of the Sprit, you already have in residing within you.
But you need to develop it, confess it, and live by it if you want to enjoy its power.

Joy is what gives you the strength to hold steady when circumstances get rough.
Joy gives you the ability to laugh in satins face when he starts trying to knock you down.
Joy gives you staying power that will make you a winner again and again.

Whatever circumstances you are facing,
you CAN be full of joy.
You CAN be strong in the Lord.
You CAN draw on the supply of the Holy Sprit within you, and come out on top.

Remember, forgive, forget, and fill yourself with the joy and strength of the Lord.

Why the America Flag is folded 13 times
The flag-folding ceremony represents the same religious principles on which our great country was originally founded.
1. The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life.
2. The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.
3. The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks, and who gave a portion of his or her life for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.
4. The fourth fold represents our weaker nature; as American citizens trusting in God, it is Him we turn to in times of peace, as well as in times of war, for His divine guidance.
5. The fifth fold is a tribute to our country. In the words of Stephen Decatur, "Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right, but it is still our country, right or wrong."
6. The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
7. The seventh fold is a tribute to our armed forces, for it is through the armed forces that we protect our country and our flag against all enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.
8. The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor our mother, for whom it flies on Mother's Day.
9. The ninth fold is a tribute to womanhood. It has been through their faith, love, loyalty and devotion that has molded the character of the men and women who have made this country great.
10. The 10th fold is a tribute to father, who has also given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since he or she was first born.
11. The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
12. The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies God the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost.
13. The 13th and last fold, when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, "In God We Trust."

How to listen to Gods voice actively
1 Samuel 3:8-10

1 – Expectantly-Eager to hear Kings 18:20-39, Psalms 17:6-7
2 – Quietly-listening Matt 13:3-9, 19-23, Ps 62:5, Hosea 6:3
3 – Patiently-Wait till you hear Ps 37:7, 130:5-6, Acts 2:1-4
4 – Confidently-I know you will tell me what I need to know
Psalms 37:5-6, Philippians 4:13

2:11-12, Psalms 116:4-7
6 – Openly-I am open to all possibilities 2 Tim 3:16, Ps 25:4-5
7 – Attentively-Listening keenly to every word 2 Tim 4:5, 1 Peter
4:7, Jeremiah 51:29
8 – Carefully-Trust the Holy Spirit to confirm what you are
hearing is form God 2 Cor 13:5, 3 John 4, Proverbs 16:9
9 – Submissively-Not my will or way but yours Prov 30:5-6,
Luke 1:26-38, Matthew 26:36-42
10 – Reverently-I am in awe and thanksgiving that you would

How to know that the voice you hear is truly God and not Satan or self?

Jesus said my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me John 10:27-29
God said my thoughts are not your thoughts Isaiah 55:8-9

1 – It must be consistent with the Word of God, the Bible
You err when you come to God's Word with preconceived
answers and predisposed attitudes." 'm looking for proof
that what I believe is right." Instead ask humbly for Him to
teach you His Ways and to show you what he wants you to
see.
2 – It will usually be in conflict with worldly conventional human
wisdom, Malachi 3:6, 10-11, Hebrews 13:8, Matt. 7:13-14
3 – It clashes with fleshly gratification and basic human lusts
(desires). Lust of the flesh (sexual), lust of the eye (greed),
pride of life (power) 1 John 2:16. We are self-centered
creatures, but God calls us to righteousness, purity, and
an unselfish giving of ourselves to others.
4 – It challenges our faith to rise to a new level Romans 12:3
mark 4:40, Matthew 14:31, Luke 18:1-8
5 – It will call for personal courage to do what God has said to
do, or to change in one's life what God has said to change.
Joshua 1:6-9, psalms 31:24
6 – Satan's words are not mindful of God Matthew 16:22-23

Satan says - Do you’re your own thing, what you want
Genesis 16-17;21, 1 Chronicles 21
God says - consider the effect on others, live a self-giving
life Romans 14:21, 1 Thess, 5:15, 1 timothy 6:18-19

Satan says - Live for the moment 1 Samuel 10:8, 13:8-14
God says - live with an eye on eternity Neh, 1-2:9, psalm
62:5, James 5:7-8, Luke 14:28-30

Satan says - Do not consider what other may say
God says - receive Godly counsel 1 Peter 5:5-6,
Ephesians 5:17-21

Satan says - You are mature and a grown-up
God says continue to grow and mature, become like Jesus
1 peter 2:2-3, Ephesians 4:14-15, 2 peter 3:17-18

How God gets out attention
1 - His Word

2 – A restless spirit Ester 6:1

3 – An unsolicited word from another person 2 Samuel 12:1,
Nehemiah 1:1-11

4 – Unusual circumstances Romans 2:4

5 – Unanswered prayers 1 Peter 3:7
Not all prayer is answered with a yes, sometimes no is a
better answer for our situation 2 Corinthians 12:7-9
A –asking for the wrong reasons James 4:3
B – May be in disobedience or rebellion 1 john 3:22
C – May be asking for something that is outside the will of
God 1 John 5:14
D – May be in a state of unforgiveness with another
person Matthew 6:14-15

There is no such thing s an accident with God. God may use different methods at different times and different methods for different people. We err in prayer when we attempt to dictate to God how He should get the attention of another person.

My mirror

When I look into my mirror, I wonder who I'll see.
Will I see the person there that God intended me to be?

Will I see an honest person, one in whom I put my trust,
or maybe one who likes to talk, and stretched the truth too much?

Will I look into the eyes of one, whose life is ruled by self?
Their great ambition seeking out worldly gains in wealth?

A plotter, a schemer, with Spain their final goal,
Rushing up life’s ladder, selling out their soul?

Dear Lord, I pray that when I look, I'll see before my eyes
a person who has grown in truth, and needs new disguise.

I pray that I may see the finished product of your grace
When I look into my mirror, Lord, please let me see your face.

Commands to all believers

1. Read your Bible
The believer should read and study the Bible. The Bible is God's Word to humanity, His communication to us. By reading and studying the Bible we can know what God requires of us.

Blessed is the person who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But their delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law they meditate day and night (Psalm 1:1,2).

2. Pray
By reading the Bible we have God talking to us. Prayer is our talking to God. Jesus had this to say regarding the importance of prayer:

And I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to one who knocks it will be opened (Luke 11:9,10).

3. Assemble with believers
The Bible commands believers to meet with one another. This is necessary so that we can uplift others and draw encouragement from one another.

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more the more as you see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:25).

4. Witness
Finally, it is the responsibility of the believer to tell others the good news about Jesus. The Gospel according to Matthew closes with these commands of Jesus.

All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on the earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:18-20).

Healing comes when full dependence is on the Lord. When Paul was afflicted and he asked for healing, God said no. God will give you all that you need to do what He wants you to do, not self. You must depended on God for your life, breathe, and all things physical and emotional. Go back to your fist love; that all consuming fire to serve God.

I was growing close to the Lord and the Devil tried slowly and slyly to separate me from Him with physical and emotional problems. I felt I did not want to live with all the pain I had and medications. Then I had a chance for surgery. Wouldn't you know it, the devil did it again with covid-19 and everything shut down. Well, PRAISE GOD He opened things long enough for my surgery. Now all is closed down again. Saw my surgeon and he said I am doing great. The Lord even takes care of a 71 year old women.

It is so close to the end people. Witness to everyone or they will be left behind. Read you bible, pray, and GO TO CHURCH. You will need the fellowship and uplift to get thru this and what is still to come.
