Nonbelievers may wonder why we hold the Bible in such high regard. They can’t understand that it’s our way of getting to know our Lord and they don’t realize that it’s our roadmap to life (or it should be). His Word teaches us and encourages us. It’s where we can always find hope. I pray that there’s something in me that the lost can see that makes them want to pick up that good ole Book and find the same guidance and reassurances that I have. I pray that they will read the scriptures and find peace and hope like I found. Most of all, I pray that they find Jesus.

Your trust grows when you stop trying to map out the future and instead lean into the present, knowing that He is ready to strengthen, guide and steady you as you go. God's grace arrives in the measure you need for the moment you're in, not the moments you're imagining. Lord, when I am worried about something to come, bring me back to your presence.

Jesus said, commanded even, that we love our enemies and do good to them. How hard that is for us to do! In our humanity, we tend to limit the love and affection that we give to others, only sharing it with those who treat us well. If we’re to live and love like Jesus, we have to change that. Our hearts have to be open to love and forgive those who have wronged us. Forgiveness is not about making the other person feel better. It’s about freeing ourselves from the chains of bitterness and hate that’s held us captive. It frees us to love those people and be kind to them in spite of their actions. It’s what Jesus did when He, in His last few moments on the cross, said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” He was showing love and grace to the very ones who put Him on the cross. That’s the example He set for us and that’s what He expects us to do. We don’t have to have a relationship with the ones who have hurt us, but we are expected to show them grace and mercy. It’s what Jesus did, and still does, and it’s what He wants us to do.
