In this morning's message, we will be looking at the last of the Markan sandwiches. A Markan sandwich is when 1 theme is sandwiched between another theme. The middle theme, what we refer to as the "meat" of the sandwich, is the dominant them. However, this morning our emphasis will be on the "bread", or outside theme, which revolves around Simon Peter, and his denial of Jesus. But it doesn't end there, it ends when Simon Peter experiences redemption, as Jesus picks up his crumbled pieces, and puts him back together.

In this morning’s message, we will take a closer look at the betrayal by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane. How he chose to betray Jesus with a kiss, something that should have been a sign of deep devotion, that Judas turned into the kiss of death. Listen, prepared to be challenged deeply by a man who quickly moved from close follower, to betrayer. What steps do we need to consider so that we don't follow in his footsteps.

In this morning’s message, we will get a vivid picture of the great love Jesus, our Ultimate Passover Lamb, had for us, as His agony is on full display. But rather than use the power He had at His disposal, and avoid the Cross, He prays to God the Father, "Yet not My will, but Your's will be done." Thus, we learn in Hebrews, He went to the cross "for the joy set before Him".

In this morning's message we get a picture of God's sovereign control over all things. When we see Him work behind the scenes, more than 600 years before the night of The Last Supper, to pave the way for Jesus to change the Passover from that point forward. But God's sovereignty doesn't end there, it is clear in every verse we look at this morning. What an incredible God we serve!

In this morning message, we will be challenged by 3 different types of individuals; Those who were enemies of Jesus, One individual who displayed and Extravagant Love for Him, and the disciples, who at the time had a half-hearted, at best, love for Him. We will be challenged to consider who we most closely resembled. We will also challenged to allow Jesus own Extravagant Love transform us, in such way, that our love for Him would gladly throw aside that which we treasure most, for the sake of Him and His kingdom.

Pastor Allen will deliver this week’s message entitled; Preaching To The Pastor, from 2 Timothy 4:1-5. It will provide you all with an opportunity to eaves drop into a message of challenge to your pastor, but much of the challenge is geared to you, as a part of the congregation as well. This was likely the last letter Paul wrote before he was martyred, and in it, he challenges Timothy in his work in the ministry. His challenges to Timothy, in many ways, apply to all of us. Come prepared to be challenged with truths from Paul’s letter to his spiritual son, Timothy.

In this week’s message entitled; Put On Your Running Shoes & Head For The Hills, taken from Mark 13:14-37, we will cover as much as 2,000 years of history! From the time of Jesus, until His 2nd Coming. In the end, we will be reminded that we are to Be On Guard for the deceptions of the enemy. That we are to Stay Alert, so we will be prepared for His 2nd Coming, and that We Have A Job To do, in delivering His Good News to the world He has placed us in.

In this week’s message is entitled; Bootcamp Training For Impending Battles-Mark 13:5-13, we will be reminded that no matter how bad things may look, our Sovereign Savior is in complete control. Jesus also warns that our enemy, the devil, will seek to deceive us. And we may see things happening that are alarming, but if we rest in the sovereignty of God, that alarm will dissipate as we trust in Him. And lastly, part of our “being on guard” comes from our preparation for battle by pouring over God’s Word, seeking to learn the powerful truths we see there, and allowing those truths to transform who we are, as a result, we then become the mouthpiece of God.

Like the Nation of Israel, we often times have misconceptions when it comes to our belief in Jesus. Come prepared to be challenged in your understanding of the reality of Who Jesus is, and what He came to accomplish.

This week’s live message is entitled; well actually there isn’t a normal message this Sunday. This Sunday has all the markings of a very special, as in out of the ordinary (I added this because every Sunday we worship God together is special!), Sunday. One of the first exciting things that will happen this Sunday is (if we can figure out how to do it!)we plan on showing a short video from this year’s AWANA program! The second exciting thing is, Jose & Brittney Hernandez will be sharing a special children’s lesson up front. They have officially begun there summer internship over both children and youth. We are soooo excited! The next exciting event this Sunday is the baptism of 8 kids! Each has come to the point where they have trusted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and want to be obedient to Christ’s call to make a public profession of their faith in Jesus through believer’s baptism. And finally, we will be welcoming some new members to Liberty Chapel this Sunday!
