Baptist Peacemakers of RI

Baptist Peacemakers of RI The BPRI is a small group of ABCORI church members and their friends of other denominations who share their values of peace and justice issues.

We are a small group of Baptist Christians who partner with the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America. We also invite people from other denominations to join us in our efforts to work on issues relating to peace.

The Celebration of a Vision for Peace which was held on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in America was a great experience. The weather and other issues were against us so the event was sparsely attended. We raised only $350 so that is not enough money to send someone to the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America conference in San Diego next summer. If anyone would like to contribute to this cause, please send a check made out to American Baptist Churches of RI with BPRI (Baptist Peacemakers of RI) in the memo section to our treasurer Martha Robison, 133 Wentworth Avenue, Cranston, RI 02905. Your support will be most appreciated.
The BPRI may do a repeat of the Celebration of a Vision for Peace in the Spring of 2020. The performers did a great job and you won't want to miss itl.

Three members of the Baptist Peacemakers of RI attended the Baptist Peacemakers of North America (Bautistas por la Paz) Peace Camp from July 2 to July 7 at Keuka College, Keuka Park, NY. The diversity of the attendees enriched the learning experience. May justice prevail, not just-us. Some of us white folk learned how to be an ally to people of color.
The themes of the conference were:
1. Unity--vs-Uniformity
2. No limits, No Boundaries, No One Left Out
3. Decolonizing The Americas
4. I'm Coming Out
5.Let's Go Back To The Water
6. What you Gonna Do When You Get Out of Jail
