Preschool Color Day 🌈

In April, our preschool students at New Perspectives Academy had a wonderful time celebrating Easter with a fun-filled Color Day! From egg hunts to creating Easter baskets out of construction paper, the children enjoyed hands-on activities that encouraged creativity, teamwork, and learning through play.

We are so thankful for our intentional teachers who create meaningful experiences that help each child grow, learn, and feel loved every day. ✨

The girls of Faith House and the transition home are in need of new mattresses. Many of the ones they currently have are falling apart—some even have springs starting to stick out. This isn’t just uncomfortable, it’s unsafe.

We need 25 mattresses, and in Haiti, a basic one costs about $120 each. Our goal is to raise $3,000 to provide every girl with a safe, comfortable place to sleep.

Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to giving these girls a safe and good night’s rest.

🌱🇭🇹 Agriculture & Labor Day Celebration at FGIM Faith House Girls 🇭🇹🌱

On May 1st, Haiti celebrates Agriculture and Labor Day, a special holiday honoring the country’s workers, farmers, culture, and community. Normally on this day, the girls would travel into the city of Jacmel to enjoy presentations, listen to local music, visit craft vendors, and experience the delicious local foods that make this celebration so meaningful. 🎶🧺🍛

However, due to the current situation in Haiti and for the safety and security of the girls, we made the decision not to take them into town this year.

Instead, our wonderful staff organized a beautiful day of activities right at the Faith House on the FGIM property! The girls participated in a training session focused on agriculture and labor in Haiti, helping them learn more about the importance of hard work and agriculture in their country. 🌾✨

They also enjoyed games, delicious barbecue together, and ended the evening with a fun movie night complete with popcorn! 🍿🎬🔥

The girls at Faith House had such a sweet time with trivia! They love a little competition, and their excitement made it even more special.

They answered questions about the Bible and Haiti’s history, winning lollies along the way and asking, “When can we play again?”

Pastor John Garry is taking the lead on investing in the young people in the Jacmel community. They had 62 at youth group recently and we are seeing God move.

Our orphanage coordinator spent time teaching the girls how to make delicious Potato Croquettes—a beloved local favorite. From peeling and mashing to shaping and frying, the girls had such a great time learning each step.
And of course... the taste testing was everyone's favorite part!
Moments like these remind us how powerful simple experiences can be-building skills, confidence, and sweet memories together.
Want to try this yummy treat at home? Here's the recipe the girls learned:
Potato Croquettes Recipe
Ingredients:
• 1 kg potatoes (peeled and boiled)
• 1 egg
• 100 g grated cheese (optional)
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1/2 cup flour (for binding)
• Bread crumbs for coating
• Oil for frying
Instructions:
Peel and boil the potatoes until tender. Drain and mash until smooth.
Add egg, grated cheese (optional), salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Gradually add flour until a dough-like consistency forms.
Shape into small oval or cylindrical croquettes.
Roll each croquette in breadcrumbs.
Fry in hot oil until golden and crispy.
Place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve hot and enjoy with your favorite sauce

The girls at Faith House and Transition Home had a Formation educational meeting with the Social worker and Miss Melinda.
They discussed WOMEN'S RIGHTS in THE HAITIAN CONTEXT: Realities - Challenges - Perspectives. It is important for the girls to be educated and equipped for their future.

The girls enjoyed an outing this week. A nice walk in the community followed by some juice, crackers, and ice cream. Simple things can be so special.
