Coweta Baptist Church We are a Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma. Our desire is to evangelize our community proclaiming God's Grace and Mercy!

Here at Coweta Baptist, we are truly a church family. The fellowship is special. The support and encouragement of the people are very important to us. We believe in sweet Christian unity and fellowship until the Lord comes. We believe in a Godly Christian liberty, and that we have been made free by the grace of God for the purpose of serving him in our personal lives, families and church. All that

we believe and practice should be built upon Jesus Christ, the Sovereignty of God, and the Doctrines of Grace. Our goals are:

*To exalt the Lord Jesus Christ and the finished work He has accomplished through his death, burial, and resurrection, in all that we do.

*To be a witness of the Gospel, to Coweta, the area around us, and the world. For each of us to be growing in the Grace and Knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ – and to have a close walk with Him.

*To stand for the truth of the Word of God, in a day of religious deception and greed.

*To have a church with an exciting, enjoyable fellowship and worship that is both respectful and reverent, being always mindful of our unworthiness and need of God in our lives. Come, and be part of what God is doing at Coweta Baptist Church!

The power of original sin is not always very discernible in children and young persons; but sometimes lies hid under the cover of decent civility, and seeming innocence. But, alas! all the offspring of Adam are deeply infected. They are like young lions, which do not discover much of their native fierceness at first. But if they live long enough for time to let their teeth and claws grow, they will quickly give proof of the savage nature they brought into the world with them.

Thought for the Day, September 10, 2026,

I liken the word of God to a seal, and the heart of man to wax; and I must say I have often seen what has been engraven on the seal, when, to my sorrow, I have not found full and suitable impressions upon my own heart. But yet, as in some old coin, some worn *groats, there appears here and there a little, here and there a stroke that discovers the value of the piece, and makes it current money; so, when I have said the best I can of my case, though I cannot present you with grace in as desirable characters as I could wish, yet, what I am, I am by grace: and if God should never do more for me in this world, I have reason to bless his name to all eternity for what he hath already done.

Thought for the Day, September 8, 2026,

The characteristic feature of the church in Sardis was that she was dead (Rev. 3:1). The church in Sardis had a name that she lived. She had all the outward characteristics of a living, vibrant church as far as the world was concerned. But the Lord said she was dead. She was a dead church in a dead world. There is a difference between the church being dead, in the sense that our Lord describes deadness here, and the world being dead. The world is dead in trespasses and sins. The context of Revelation 3:1-6 proves the church in Sardis was not completely, absolutely dead. ...The word “dead” (nekros) does not mean the church was completely or absolutely dead, as verses 2 and 3 prove. Sardis had the reputation for being a dead church even though she had a name that she lived. The majority of the members in the church professed Christianity in name only. A co**se does not know that it is dead. It may look quiet and dignified, but it is dead. A dignified dead church and the preacher preaching a positive sermon with nothing negative is like embalming a co**se. It helps for only a short time.

However, all was not completely lost, because the church was told to strengthen the things that remained that were ready to die. The word for “die” (apothnesko) means to rot or to wither. Therefore, she should strengthen the things that she still held.

Thought for the Day, September 7, 2026,

Offering Christ v Preaching Christ

Hearing Christ preached fills the regenerate with joy, while it fills the unregenerate with hatred because his evil deeds are exposed (John 3:19, 20; Luke 4; 5). Offering Christ appeals to the unregenerate. Christ offered to them leads them to think they can control God and that they have the power to either receive or reject Him. Hence, their ego is excited. They are led to believe their wills can determine what they will do with the sovereign God of the universe. Offering Christ attracts crowds in crusades, churches, etc. It gets success in the eyes of the world. Preaching Christ is to the contrary. Offering Christ does not bring the unregenerate to the dust at the feet of the sovereign Savior.
