«Mientras reflexiono sobre aquel día una década después, pienso para mis adentros: “Esta es la Diócesis de Tulsa y el Este de Oklahoma”.»

Cuando miro hacia atrás y recuerdo estos últimos 10 años, no pienso primero en edificios, programas o logros. Pienso en ustedes: el pueblo de esta diócesis.

Pienso en nuestros sacerdotes y diáconos, en nuestras comunidades religiosas, en nuestros seminaristas, en nuestras familias, en nuestros voluntarios, benefactores y en los fieles de cada parroquia del Este de Oklahoma que continúan respondiendo al llamado de Dios para ser discípulos intencionales de Jesucristo.

Ustedes son quienes hacen especial a esta diócesis. Ustedes son el corazón de esta Iglesia local. Como escribí en mi columna de junio: «La clave de la diócesis son ustedes, su gente».

Gracias por sus oraciones, su fe y su testimonio. Nuestro futuro es prometedor porque Jesucristo es la Luz del Mundo.

When I look back on the past 10 years, I do not think first about buildings, programs, or accomplishments. I think about you - the people of this diocese.

I think of our priests and deacons, our religious communities, our seminarians, our families, our volunteers, our benefactors, and the faithful in every parish across Eastern Oklahoma who continue to answer God's call to be intentional disciples of Jesus Christ.

You are what makes this diocese special. You are the heart of this local Church. As I wrote in my June column, "The key to the diocese is you, the people."

Thank you for your prayers, your faith, and your witness. Our future is bright because Jesus Christ is the Light of the World.
