An athlete's devotion to practice tells so much about him. When my husband was competing in rodeo he would commit to roping the practice dummy 50 times in a row without missing. If he missed he made himself start over. He is instilling that in our 5 year old grandson. He has to catch the baseball 3 or 4 times in a row before we put the gloves up. We will see the fruit from this when baseball season begins next summer. It is the same for us as followers of Christ. We should wholeheartedly put into practice the examples we have from our Savior. As with most of us, I was in my late teens or early twenties when I realized one of the clearest ways my dad tried to show me love was through reminding me of the truth and then bringing correction. It broke my heart when I realized how patient he had been, how loving, but also unafraid to set a firm boundary that he would defend. I am grateful every day for that. Jesus is the same. He loves us so much that he will be honest about our relationship with him. If it is real and lasting or if it is false and will not stand the test of time. What a loving Savior. When I was a child my parents and my teachers both read to me from Aesop's Fables. The moral of the story was always a lesson that you could refer back to throughout your life. It is the same with the stories that Jesus uses to teach about kingdom principles. Understanding the lesson the Lord is trying to instill in each of us will last us for a lifetime. And they will help insure that we make our final destination, heaven. We hope you will join us Sunday as we continue our series on the return of Jesus.
