God Is Working in the Ordinary

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” — Colossians 3:23 NKJV

Most of us love the mountaintop moments.

The answered prayer.
The breakthrough.
The big opportunity.
The visible victory.

But life is mostly made up of ordinary days.

Wake up.
Go to work.
Take care of responsibilities.
Serve others.
Repeat.

And sometimes those ordinary days can feel insignificant.

We wonder if we’re making a difference.

We wonder if anything meaningful is happening.

We wonder if God is doing anything at all.

But throughout Scripture, God often did His greatest work during ordinary seasons.

David was tending sheep before he became king.

Moses was watching sheep before God called him from the burning bush.

The disciples were fishing when Jesus invited them to follow Him.

Even Jesus spent most of His earthly life in the ordinary routines of daily living before His public ministry began.

God is not only present in the extraordinary moments.

He’s present in the ordinary ones too.

The small acts of faithfulness matter.

The quiet prayers matter.

The unseen acts of kindness matter.

The daily choices to honor God matter.

Because every ordinary day is another opportunity to walk faithfully with Him.

And those small moments often become the building blocks of something much greater than we can see at the time.

Never underestimate what God can do through consistent faithfulness. 🌄

Lord, help me be faithful in the ordinary moments of life. Keep me from chasing only the big moments while missing what You are doing right in front of me. Teach me to honor You in the daily routines, small responsibilities, and quiet opportunities You place before me. Amen. 🙏

Maybe today feels like just another day.

Nothing exciting.
Nothing dramatic.
Nothing extraordinary.

But God often does extraordinary things through ordinary people who simply remain faithful.

And if you’ve never trusted Jesus with your life, today is a beautiful day to begin.

“Lord, I give You my life and choose to follow You.”

Don’t overlook today because it feels ordinary.

God may be doing more than you realize. 🌄🙏

Stop Borrowing Trouble From Tomorrow

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.” — Matthew 6:34 NKJV

Can I be honest with you this morning?

Some of y’all didn’t sleep last night.

Not because anything actually went wrong.

But because your mind wouldn’t stop running through everything that could go wrong.

That’s what worry does.

It charges you interest on a debt you may never even owe.

Jesus isn’t being naive here in Matthew 6.

He’s not saying life is easy.

He said it plain. “Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

In other words. Today already has enough.

Stop loading tomorrow’s weight on top of it.

Here’s what gets me about this verse.

God fed millions of Israelites in a desert every single morning. (Exodus 16)

He showed up daily.

Not because He couldn’t provide a month’s worth at once.

But because He wanted them to need Him again tomorrow.

He still works that way.

His mercies aren’t stockpiled.

They’re fresh. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

You don’t get next week’s grace today.

You get today’s grace today.

And it will be enough.

It always has been. ☀️

God, I’ll be honest. I’m a worrier. Help me put down what I keep picking back up. Remind me that You’re already in my tomorrow and You’re not nervous about it. Give me enough grace for today. That’s all I’m asking. Amen. 🙏

You might be carrying something heavy this morning.

Something that keeps you up.
Something you can’t control.
Something you’ve prayed about a hundred times.

You don’t have to figure it all out today.

You just have to trust Him today.

And if you’ve never given Jesus the whole mess, the worry, the fear, the what-ifs, today’s a good day to start.

He’s not scared of what you’re carrying.

Hand it over.

He’s already in your tomorrow. ☀️

Faith Was Never Meant to Stop With You

“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” — 2 Timothy 2:2 NKJV

One of God’s favorite ways to work is through multiplication.

Not just growing numbers.

Growing people.

From the very beginning, God’s plan has always involved one generation investing in the next.

Moses poured into Joshua.

Elijah poured into Elisha.

Paul poured into Timothy.

And Timothy was instructed to pour into others who would continue the work.

Notice the pattern.

Faithful people investing in faithful people.

The gospel does not survive by addition.

It advances by multiplication.

One life impacting another life.

One believer encouraging another believer.

One generation teaching the next generation.

That’s why spiritual fatherhood matters so much.

You don’t have to be a biological father to be a spiritual father.

Some of the greatest influences in our lives are coaches, teachers, mentors, pastors, Sunday School teachers, and faithful believers who took the time to invest in us.

Someone prayed for you.
Someone taught you.
Someone encouraged you.
Someone helped you grow.

Now it’s our turn to do the same for someone else.

Because the question isn’t simply what we’re building.

The question is who we’re building.

Every conversation.
Every lesson.
Every encouragement.
Every act of discipleship.

It all matters more than we realize.

Long after we’re gone, the people we’ve invested in may continue impacting lives we will never meet this side of heaven.

That’s the power of multiplication. 👣

Lord, thank You for the people who invested in my life and helped me grow in my faith. Show me who You want me to encourage, teach, and disciple. Help me live in a way that points others to You and leaves a legacy that honors Christ. Amen. 🙏

Maybe today you’re wondering if your influence really matters.

Maybe you’re not a pastor.
Maybe you’re not a teacher.
Maybe you’re not even a parent.

But there is someone watching your example.

Someone who needs your encouragement.

Someone who needs to see what faithfulness looks like.

And if you’ve never trusted Jesus with your life, today is a beautiful day to begin.

“Lord, save me, lead me, and help me follow You.”

The gospel does not survive by addition.

It advances by multiplication.

And God has always used faithful people to carry it forward. 👣🙏

God Is More Interested in Your Character Than Your Comfort

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28 NKJV

Most of us naturally pray for comfort.

We pray for easier days.
Fewer problems.
Less stress.
More certainty.

And there’s nothing wrong with asking God for those things.

But often God has a greater goal in mind.

He’s not just concerned with making life comfortable.

He’s focused on shaping our character.

That’s why some seasons stretch us.

Not because God is punishing us.

Not because He has forgotten us.

But because growth often happens in places where comfort cannot.

Patience develops when we have to wait.

Faith grows when we don’t have all the answers.

Perseverance is built when we keep moving forward despite difficulties.

The truth is, many of the qualities we admire in mature believers were forged through challenges they never would have chosen for themselves.

Joseph’s character was developed in a pit and a prison.

David’s character was shaped in the wilderness.

Peter’s character was refined through failure and restoration.

And God still works that way today.

The very thing you’re asking God to remove may be the thing He’s using to strengthen you.

That doesn’t mean we enjoy the struggle.

It means we trust the One who is working through it.

Because God sees the finished product long before we do.

He sees who you’re becoming. ☀️

Lord, thank You for caring more about who I am becoming than simply how comfortable I feel. Help me trust You during difficult seasons and remind me that You are using every challenge to shape my character and strengthen my faith. Give me the courage to keep following You even when the path is difficult. Amen. 🙏

Maybe today you’re facing a challenge you wish would disappear.

A burden.
A disappointment.
A delay.
A struggle you didn’t ask for.

Before you assume God is working against you, consider that He may be working within you.

And if you’ve never trusted Jesus with your life, today is a beautiful day to begin.

“Lord, shape me into the person You created me to be.”

Comfort feels good for a season…

But character lasts forever. ☀️

What a great evening at the Brotherhood Fish Fry! It was a blessing to spend time with so many good men and their families enjoying some outstanding food, and share fellowship together. Events like this remind us how important strong Christian friendships and community really are.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize, cook, and serve. The fish was excellent, but the fellowship was even better. Looking forward to the next one!

When God Says “Stay”

“Be still, and know that I am God…” — Psalm 46:10 NKJV

Most people are willing to move when God says go.

The harder assignment is when God says stay.

Stay faithful.
Stay patient.
Stay obedient.
Stay where you are a little longer.

We often assume movement means progress.

A new opportunity.
A different job.
A fresh relationship.
A new season.

But sometimes the greatest growth happens when God asks us to remain right where we are.

Not because He has forgotten us.

Not because He is holding us back.

But because there is still something He wants to teach us before the next chapter begins.

The temptation is to get ahead of God.

To force a door open.
To manufacture an answer.
To take control because waiting feels uncomfortable.

But every time we run ahead of God, we trade His timing for our own.

And His timing is always better.

There are lessons learned in staying that cannot be learned in leaving.

Character is built.
Trust is strengthened.
Faith deepens.

Sometimes God is doing more in us than He is doing around us.

That’s why being still requires faith.

Anyone can move.

Trusting God enough to stay when He says stay takes surrender.

So if you find yourself in a season that feels slow, repetitive, or uncertain, don’t assume God is absent.

He may be doing some of His most important work in your life right now.

The waiting room is often God’s classroom. 🌅

Lord, help me trust Your timing when I want to rush ahead. Give me patience when You ask me to stay and courage when You ask me to move. Teach me to be faithful in the season I’m in and help me believe that You are working even when I cannot see it. Amen. 🙏

Maybe today you’re feeling restless.

You want answers.
You want change.
You want the next chapter to begin.

But before you rush ahead, ask yourself:

Has God told me to move…
or am I simply tired of waiting?

If you’ve never trusted Jesus with your future, today is a beautiful day to place your life in His hands.

“Lord, I’ll follow Your timing, not my own.”

Sometimes faith means stepping out.

Sometimes faith means staying put.

Both require trust. 🌅

God Often Works in the Waiting

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 NKJV

Waiting is one of the hardest parts of faith.

We pray…
then wait.

We ask God for direction…
then wait.

We believe God placed something in our heart…
yet nothing seems to happen immediately.

And if we’re honest, waiting can feel frustrating.

Because we naturally want movement.
Answers.
Progress.
Control.

But God often does some of His deepest work in the waiting seasons of life.

Waiting develops trust.
Waiting exposes what we’re truly depending on.
Waiting teaches patience, endurance, and surrender.

A lot of times we think the delay means God is absent.

But sometimes the delay is actually preparation.

Preparation for what you prayed for.
Preparation for where God is leading you.
Preparation for the person He’s shaping you into.

Moses waited in the wilderness.
Joseph waited in prison.
David waited years before becoming king.

Even Jesus spent years preparing before stepping into public ministry.

God has never been in a hurry…
but He has always been on time.

And sometimes the waiting season is less about God preparing the blessing…
and more about God preparing us.

So if life feels slow,
if prayers feel unanswered…
if doors seem closed…

Don’t lose heart.

Just because God is quiet does not mean He is absent.

He is still working. 🌿

Lord, help me trust You in the waiting seasons of life. When I become impatient, remind me that Your timing is perfect. Strengthen my faith when answers seem delayed and teach me to rest in knowing You are still working behind the scenes for my good. Amen. 🙏

Maybe today you’re tired of waiting for something to change.

A prayer.
A breakthrough.
A relationship.
A new direction.
Healing.

But what if this season is not punishment…

What if it’s preparation?

And if you’ve never trusted Jesus with your future, today is a beautiful day to place your life into His hands.

“Lord, even in the waiting, help me trust You.”

God’s delays are not always denials…

Sometimes they are preparation. 🌿

Obedience or Surrender?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 NKJV

A lot of people think obedience and surrender are the same thing.

But they’re different.

Obedience is doing what God asks.

Surrender is trusting Him enough to give Him complete control.

You can obey God in certain areas while still holding tightly to others.

You can attend church but still hold on to fear.
You can pray but still try to control the outcome.
You can follow God outwardly while internally resisting where He’s leading you.

That’s because obedience often deals with actions.

Surrender deals with the heart.

Surrender says:
“Lord, even when I don’t understand, I trust You.”
“Even when it costs me something, I’ll follow.”
“Even when life feels uncertain, I believe Your way is better than mine.”

And honestly, surrender can feel uncomfortable.

Because we naturally want control.
We want answers.
We want guarantees.

But faith often requires releasing what we cannot control into the hands of the One who can.

Abraham obeyed when he left his homeland.

But surrender happened when he placed Isaac on the altar.

Jesus showed complete surrender in the garden when He prayed,
“Nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” — Luke 22:42 NKJV

Sometimes God is not only asking whether you will obey Him.

Sometimes He’s asking whether you trust Him enough to surrender fully.

Because surrendered people experience a peace that controlled people never will.

And often the breakthrough comes after the surrender, not before it.

Lord, teach me how to fully trust You. Help me surrender the areas of my life that I keep trying to control. Remove fear, pride, and doubt from my heart and remind me that Your plans are always greater than my own. Give me peace in knowing that I can safely place my life into Your hands. Amen. 🙏

Maybe today there’s an area of your life you’ve been holding onto tightly.

A fear.
A relationship.
A future decision.
A dream.
A burden.

What if the peace you’re looking for is waiting on the other side of surrender?

And if you’ve never truly surrendered your life to Jesus, today is a beautiful day to begin.

“Lord, I trust You with my life, my future, and my heart.”

Obedience follows God’s direction…

But surrender trusts Him with everything. 🙏

Growth Isn’t Always Obvious

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” — Galatians 6:9 NKJV

One of the hardest things about growth is that you usually can’t see it happening in real time.

You pray, but still feel stretched.
You try to stay faithful, but life still feels difficult.
You work on yourself, but progress feels slower than you hoped.

And eventually the thought creeps in:

“Am I even growing at all?”

But growth rarely happens in dramatic moments.

Most growth happens quietly.
Little by little.
Decision by decision.
Day by day.

Just like a seed underground, a lot can be happening beneath the surface before anything becomes visible.

Roots are forming.
Strength is developing.
Character is being built.

Even if nobody else sees it yet.
Even if you don’t fully see it yet.

That’s why discouragement can be dangerous.

Not because you’re failing…
but because discouragement makes people quit too early.

Too early in the process.
Too early in the healing.
Too early in the growth God is doing internally.

God’s timing is rarely instant, but it is intentional.

And the seasons where you feel stretched the most are often the seasons where the deepest growth is taking place.

So don’t give up on yourself.
Don’t walk away from the process.
And don’t assume God is absent just because progress feels slow.

Growth is still happening. 🌱

Lord, help me to trust You even when growth feels slow or invisible. Keep me from becoming discouraged in the process and remind me that You are still working beneath the surface in ways I may not fully see yet. Give me patience, endurance, and faith to keep moving forward. Amen. 🙏

Maybe today you’ve been frustrated because you thought you’d be farther along by now.

Take a breath.

God is not finished with you.

And if you’ve never trusted Jesus with your life, today is a beautiful place to begin. “Lord, I give You my life and trust You with the process of who I’m becoming.”

Growth may not always be obvious…
but God is still working. 🌱
