AMERICAN SPIRIT AWARDS

The American Spirit Awards are a prestigious annual event hosted by The National WWII Museum NOLA, to celebrate individuals and organizations whose life's work reflects the courage, sacrifice, and values of the "Greatest Generation". 2026 honorees include: Steve Gleason, Rosie the Riveters, John Williams.

Proceeds from the A S A gala go directly toward supporting the educational programming of The National WWII Museum. This includes creating classroom materials, funding professional development for teachers, and powering online experiences that reach students globally.

Sisters Beth Mouch and Joyce Hanks were present. Beth enrolled in the Patriots Circle to honor her father (Dr. Larry Mouch-Franklin) who was a WWII veteran. He was in the army and served on a navy ship in the Pacific theater during the war.

The IWS building has been used by Archdiocesan Catholic Charities for social service outreach for more than 25 years. Currently, CCANO operates the Incarnate Word Head Start and Early Head Start center located on Apricot St. This facility provides early childhood education, health, and family support services for children up to 5 years old.

Look Whom We Hosted...

Fr. Jomy Mathew, CSC, a Holy Cross priest ministering at a HC school in Indianapolis, stayed with us a few days in Covington. The primary reason for his visit was to explore being accepted into the Counseling program at the University of Holy Cross to work on a PHD! Fr. Jomy, ordained 17 years ago, will become a part of his Holy Cross Congregation's vision for future ministry in Northern India.

While here he had the opportunity to experience jambalaya, gumbo, and a po-boy in the local culture. Of his visit, Fr. Jomy said "meeting Marianites put flesh on a word in our HC history books."

These alum, Class of '56, gave the hotel and grounds rave reviews. They gathered in what they had known as the cafeteria and were reminiscing over Sr. Maurice's "loose" hamburgers. Memories, story-telling, and lots of laughter filled the afternoon. Ooooh yeah! Here's to Holy Angels 70 years after graduation.

The 2nd to last photo pictures our three FBI (Foreign Born Irish) Sisters Mary Kelly, Eileen Brosnahan, and Nell Murray. They left home, family, and the familiar to become part of the evangelization mission of the Marianites.

The last photo highlights the three sisters celebrating their 70th Jubilee in 2026. Joining their Novitiate companion, Sr. Eileen, are Sr. Cynthia Knowles and Sr. Joyce Hanks. Along with Sr. Beth Mouch's 50th Jubilee, that celebration is set for September 12 ar St Benedict in Covington.

70th JUBILEE CELEBRATION🎉

Two of the Postulants entering the Marianites of Holy Cross at Holy Angels in 1956

Miss Beverly Kraft and Miss Eileen Brosnahan radiate joy as they pose in the yard at AHA, with the backdrop of plants and trees.

Beverly, a former NOLA dancing school teacher, courageously persevered, taking vows as Sr. Angelle on her deathbed, inspiring her Novitiate companions with her unwavering faith in Divine Providence.

Eileen, who traveled from Ireland to answer her calling, became Sr. Patrick and spent many, many years nurturing young minds. Today, she celebrates her 70th Anniversary as a Marianite. The beloved, Sr. Eileen, resides at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home, Opelousas. CONGRATULATIONS, SR. EILEEN BROSNAHAN, you are cherished🍀💒✝️💞🛐
