Hey friends! 🌟 Join us this Sunday at Covington Church of Christ as we gather to worship and grow together! Bible class is at 9:30am and worship service starts at 10:30. All are welcome!
Below are some of the songs we will sing this Sunday as we continue to study Biblical Faith and our Allegiance to God.

True Hearted, Whole Hearted - As we continue our study on faith this week, let’s think of faith as allegiance, allegiance to God. What does allegiance look like? Is it half or false hearted? The song brings our attention onto the idea that with all that was given to us, we cannot settle for partial allegiance, but must come to the realization that True and Whole allegiance is required.

We Will Glorify, Holy Holy Holy, Lead me to Calvary (Medley) - The Medley draws a story of coming to glorify the King of Kings and because he is Holy, our hope is that our study, praise, and worship leads us to Calvary. Our study on faith is not one of hope on wishes or dreams, but of one of a God that keeps his promises, therefore, let us praise Him and pledge our allegiance to God.

Nearer My God to Thee - Our song of invitation is a plea, a plea to draw us nearer to God. A desire for more faith and allegiance to God should give us pause to ask the question, “am I nearer?” or “am I drifting?” from God

Where He Leads I’ll Follow - Our closing song is a call to action! Where is Christ leading us? Let us follow his word throughout the week and bring us encouragement as we depart today to do His will.

Below are some of the songs we will sing this Sunday as we continue to study Biblical Faith and our Allegiance to God.

Great Are You Lord - Our call-to-worship song speaks about the awesome wonder of the God we have come to worship, as we start our service this morning, let us sing out, “Great are you Lord!”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STLEd2HVnBU

Let there be Praise - This song draws our attention onto the importance of praising our God and Creator. It is a call to worship Him for all that is and was and is to be and to let our focus be on Him for our assembly. The song reminds us of a recent study of Phillipians in Chapter 4 verse 8, “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-s3mbvcjIg&list=RDT-s3mbvcjIg&start_radio=1

Hide Me Rock of Ages - Isaiah 26:4 tells us “Trust in the Lord forever, for in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock”. Isaiah speaks of an everlasting rock as a synonym for God; infinite, stable, and strong. As we begin to focus on the Lord’s supper, let us start to draw towards our everlasting Savior in Jesus that died for our sin.

Highly Exalted - As we prepare our minds for the Lord’s supper, this song has us focus on the crucifixion story and the amount of commitment Jesus and God had to the plan of salvation, by bringing a sacrifice to end the old covenant and sacrificial system. One who was “highly exalted” and perfect in every way, so that our sin may be perpetually atoned.

Below are some of the songs we will sing this Sunday as we explore what the Gospel means to us.

Why Did My Savior Come to Earth? - Our lesson this morning is around the Gospel message. We may often why God would create such a plan for salvation and the answer is: because He loved me so.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=au8PbHZC8Cs&list=RDau8PbHZC8Cs&start_radio=1

I Love to Tell the Story - In the great commission of Jesus in Matthew 28:19, Jesus says, “go therefore and make disciples of all nations”, the Gospel message was meant to be told, not just to a select few or the clergy, but the whole world.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AOwA_Hdg0c&list=RD0AOwA_Hdg0c&start_radio=1

Goodness of God - This song wraps up our lesson and focuses on how faithful God is to us. The Gospel is the good news of Christ being delivered for the nations and the forgiveness of our sins and the great goodness that is given to us through Christ’s sacrifice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUPwC3AEQOs&list=RDZUPwC3AEQOs&start_radio=1

Seeking the Lost - As we close and go into the world, let us remember what our responsibility is to fulfill the Gospel, Jesus called us to bring the message to all the nations, let us remember that we are to be constantly seeking the lost and leading them to Christ.

Below are some of the songs we will sing this Sunday as we explore what the Gospel means to us.

Christ For the World We Sing - As we open our worship service together in song, let us focus on who we are worshiping and why. Christ is the reason we worship in song and study His word; a Christ for the entire world whom all can come to! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzdwp1JWcsE

God Is Love - Continuing our call to worship, come let us all unite to sing the message of the good news, that God is love and has come for all. The heavens and the earth bring their praises, let us worship and bring the good news to all who will hear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPjz-iA5Ns4&list=RDoPjz-iA5Ns4&start_radio=1

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross - As we begin to shift our focus of worship into the partaking of the Lord’s supper, we take a look at the wondrous cross, not wondrous because of the atrocities that were done to Jesus Christ, but the wonders of salvation to a lost and dying world. Often it is hard to wrap our head around how we deserve such forgiveness and the song helps to guide us through what was done and how our lives should, in response, be living sacrifices for the Savior
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57JY8sX-vL4&list=RD57JY8sX-vL4&start_radio=1

Behold the Lamb - If you were to explain to someone precisely why we partake of the Lord’s supper this song embodies the explanation. The Lamb who bears our sins and was slain for us is remembered in this ceremony, we share in the bread of life and drink of His sacrifice. We respond to His actions weekly to proclaim Chris will come again. Come join us, around the table of the King.

See below the remainder of the songs we will sing at our worship service this Sunday, Come join us!

The Lord My Shepherd Is
Our lesson this morning is based around keeping our focus on THE God and making sure we have our priorities straight. The Lord My Shepherd Is is taken from Psalm 23, almost word for word depending on the version you read. It is a song about letting God be our Shepherd and Guide, leaving all fear, worry, and concern at the altar and just trusting in the Lord

Hilltops of Glory
With inspiration taken from Micah 4, this song has us focus our attention to the promise of the house of God being exalted. As we partake of our lesson let us remember that there is only one God who can exalt us and grant us those eternal Hilltops of Glory.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUtLWx6iL98&list=RDGUtLWx6iL98&start_radio=1

Living Hope
As we just explored in our lesson of the morning the idea that there is a limit to what some “gods” can give us, our song of Invitation draws inspiration from 1 Peter 1:3, where Peter draws our attention to making sure Christ is our foundation as believers. The world may offer much but Jesus offers everything and is truly our only Living Hope.

Will Your Anchor Hold
The Hebrew writer reminds us that “we have an anchor”. One that keeps the soul steadfast and sure. As we depart and go into the world this week, let us remain fast to our anchor in Jesus Christ.

Below is a preview of what we will be singing this Sunday at our worship service, come join us Sunday at 10:30 am for worship services!

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
As we open our time together to worship the Great Creator, the fount from which everything comes. Let us start our worship service with a hymn calling to remembrance how great that creator is and how every blessing comes from above.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD-k9q_TVyY

Highest Place
As we continue our call to worship, we give the honor and glory to our Great High Priest who intercedes for us continually. We place His name on the highest place, as Philippians 2:9 where Paul tells us that “God bestowed upon Him (Jesus) the name above all names”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8iZtIiF79A&list=RDk8iZtIiF79A&start_radio=1

Ten Thousand Angels
As our time this morning turns toward focusing on the Lord’s Supper, let’s take a look at God’s power in this song and the importance of following the plan for the new covenant. Matthew 26:53 Jesus tells his disciples “do you think I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?” Jesus had the power to destroy the world and all the evil within it, but the plan for salvation was greater than this and this is a song attempting to show how much love He must have for us that he would die a cruel death.

Come Share the Lord
Before we partake of the Lord’s supper, this hymn focuses on the emblems of communion and what those represent in the memorial we are about to partake in. The song is a call for all Christians to gather together around the table and “share” in the Lord as we partake of this feast.

Sunday's a comin'. In fact, it's Easter Sunday.
One of may favorite commentary series is the “Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture.” The editors have gone back to the early centuries of the church and Brough forth things that early Christian writers said on the Bible. Check out this quote below.

INNOCENT BLOOD CRIES OUT BY ITS VERY EXISTENCE. MAXIMUS OF TURIN: The divine Scripture always cries out and speaks; hence God also says to Cain," The voice of your brother's blood cries out to me.” Blood, to be sure, has no voice, but innocent blood that has been spilled is said to cry out not by words but by its very existence. (It makes] demands of the Lord not with eloquent discourse but with anger over the crime committed. It does not accuse the wrongdoer with words so much as bind him by the accusation of his own conscience. The evil deed may seem to be excused when it is explained away with words. But it cannot be excused if it is made present to the conscience. For in silence and without contradiction the wrongdoer’s conscience always convicts and judges him. SERMONS 88.1.’ 1
Cain killed Abel and Abel’s blood “cried out.” Maybe for vengeance maybe for justice but its voice wanted Cain called to account.
Hebrews 12 verses 22 through 24 tell us this. “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
It’s this better word that Jesus blood speaks about that I want us to consider today. Barry

The rest of our songs we will sing during worship are below, come join us as we worship!

Just For Today
As we shift to focus on our lesson from Ecclesiastes this morning, the focus is always staying true and never wavering from God’s will. This song focuses not even on the future of unwavering but rather “Just for today”. Sometimes doing God’s will can seem daunting when looking at the long term but if we were to take the task a day at a time, God will sustain, as we read in Matthew 6:34 “do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will care for itself”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Bigc7nW5Pk&list=RD8Bigc7nW5Pk&start_radio=1

I know who Holds Tomorrow
Continuing our theme of not worrying and staying true, the theme of this song focuses on giving our time to God and just striving to do his will today. As we read in Psalm 31:15 “My times are in Your hand, Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95_dFIChVkM&list=RD95_dFIChVkM&start_radio=1

Anywhere with Jesus
Our song of invitation focuses on being safe with Jesus no matter our situation or location. All can come to or return to the fold and be safe. Sometimes doing God’s will can be daunting but never the less, He is with us.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URY_7SwH80E&list=RDURY_7SwH80E&start_radio=1

Angels are Singing
As we close our time together let us be reminded of the prize that we strive for. Heaven is a joyous place filled with worship and praise, as Luke 15:8-10 tells us “there is joy in the presence of angels of God over one sinner who repents”, let’s go out into the world this week looking for the sheep who are lost.

This Sunday we will be continuing our studies in Ecclesiates, these are some of the songs we will sing as part of our worship service, hope you enjoy and hope you will join us as we worship!

Every Praise
As we read in Psalm 150:6, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” Our call to worship this week is to bring our all to God, while sometimes during the week the world has us beat down, this song is a reminder of our unity in Christ as we bring “every praise” we have to worship the Lord.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ki1KgSl74qU

A Wonderful Savior
The reason we gather and worship is because our Savior is wonderful, and as the Lord reminded the Israelites in Exodus 33:22 “I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand”, what security they must have felt back in the day and as the author of the song is reminding us, the Lord continues to protect.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O1-hS3uK9c&list=RD8O1-hS3uK9c&start_radio=1

We Saw Thee Not
As we shift the focus of our time together to our remembrance of the sacrifice Jesus made for our sin, John 20:29 tells us that Jesus said to the apostles “Blessed are they who did not see, and yet, believed”. I am going to go out on a limb and say that none of us reading this today walked the earth with Jesus 2000 years ago, but the song brings to our remembrance the things Jesus did and continues to do, in spite of us having seen the things he did.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lKK65GsA-o&list=RD5lKK65GsA-o&start_radio=1

How Deep the Father’s Love
As we prepare to partake of the Lord’s Supper, this song reflects on how deep and loving the plan of salvation brought down to man was. The Father did so much for us and we are called to partake of this feast weekly in remembrance of Him.

The remaining preview of our song selections for Sunday, come worship with us!

To Christ Be True
Our worship services now turn toward the lesson of the hour, we continue our study of Joshua and see a need to hold ourselves as Christians to higher standards than the world. The song To Christ be True is a call to us, as believers, to have an unwavering faithfulness and allegiance to Jesus.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSzWiYbxwx4&list=RDHSzWiYbxwx4&start_radio=1

Faith is the Victory
Continuing the idea of being fully commited to Jesus and setting our standards high, let us look at 1 John 5:4-5, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God”, the reward for our steadfast faith is the victory found in Jesus, let us run the race to win the prize!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWvadf5S0OI&list=RDDWvadf5S0OI&start_radio=1

Who is at the Door is Standing
Our song of invitation draws inspiration from Revelation 3:20 where John records “behold, I stand at the door and knock: if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me”, Jesus is not an intruder here, he is a compassionate and patient friend, waiting on us to give Him our full attention and allegiance. Let us answer the door and become true followers of Christ.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nlrwmq2_bX8&list=RDNlrwmq2_bX8&start_radio=1

Now The Day is Over
This hymn was written originally as a comforting evening prayer for children where Baring-Gould was a minister in 1865. The hymn covers the transition from day to night and gives comfort as we depart from our assembly that God is with us and protects us, in our case we sing here as a reminder of this until we gather together again but the song could apply to every day as we ask for protection and guidance. May Jesus give us a sense of calm and sweet repose until we meet again!
