We’re so excited for our youth and children’s Sunday school classes starting September 13th!
The children’s class will be lead by Erin Javins and the youth class will be lead by Pastor Katie but they can’t do it alone! We’re looking for volunteers to assist them.

We're going to a youth retreat!
This November 13-15th we are headed to The Wesley Center for the Common Ground youth retreat. The retreat is designed for all youth (6th grade through 12th grade) across the Louisiana Conference, offering a space for spiritual growth, connection, and meaningful
conversation with youth around the Conference.

Thank you for coming to share ways the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana can help serve our church and community. It was a gift having you with us!

We have some excited days ahead!

Yesterday, Susan Cothern and Tracie Wharton visited First United Methodist Church of Covington, joining the congregation for worship and spending time afterward with church leaders.

They had a great conversation about the many ways the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana can support a church — from investments and loans to planned giving, grants and other financial services.

When churches work with the Foundation, their resources remain connected to the larger United Methodist connection, helping strengthen ministry throughout Louisiana.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to visit with churches across the Conference and learn how we can serve them better!

We outgrew our little blessing box!
This week members of our church built a second and larger blessing box to help provide even more necessities to those in our community who need them.
We’re so thankful to all who helped build these boxes and to everyone who donates to keep them filled!

Inside the new box is shelf stable food items such as canned foods, microwavable meals, cereals, and snacks.
The smaller box now contains hygiene products such as diapers, soaps, toothpaste, menstrual supplies, and deodorant.

Take what you need, leave what you can.
If you are able to donate, you can fill the boxes located on the left side of the church at 203 N Jefferson Ave, Covington, LA.
You can also bring donations to the church on Sunday or during the week for us to fill the boxes with as needed.

Donating even one can of food or pack of diapers could make it a little easier for someone struggling to make it through the week.
We pray that God will continue to work through us and these boxes to help people in our community.

Please join us in welcoming our new director of youth and children’s ministries Erin Javins!

Erin is a proud and loving wife and mother of 5 children, and ‘Honey’ to her first grandchild. She is a bus driver and CDL Skills Trainer for Tangipahoa Parish School System. In addition to her children, she has 4 dogs, 3 cats, 3 goats, and 27 chickens. When she isn’t busy loving all of God’s children and creatures, she can be found floating down the river on her paddle board or singing to her plants in her garden.

Erin wants to create a place where every student feels known, welcomed, and loved; Where they can authentically be themselves, grow in their relationship with Christ, ask real questions, and discover who God is calling them to become.

We can’t wait to see how God will work through Erin to lead the youth and children in our church!
