October Primetimers was another great time of gathering around the table sharing a meal and great fellowship.
The Primetimers Committee, as always, had the fellowship decorated beautifully. The food was delicious! The company was priceless!
Mac McKibben and his Jazz Band were the entertainment! It was outstanding!

I have been thinking about masks a good deal during the Halloween season.

We wear masks at school, work or at church to look like we've got it all together.

We wear masks at home, so no one knows we're hurting.

We say what people want to hear. We smile when we're sad. We act confident when we feel like we're falling apart inside.

I wore plenty of those masks myself.

Trying to impress people.
Trying to prove something.
Trying to fit in.

No matter how well the mask fits, you end up feeling like you're still not enough-not thin enough, not smart enough, not successful enough, not spiritual enough.

There's always someone who seems to be doing life better than you.

But here's the truth:
You are already loved.
You are already worthy.

And God didn't create you to be a copy of anyone else.

Psalm 139 says, "You are fearfully and wonderfully made."

You don't need a mask to make you lovable-you already are.

Free to be honest.
Free to be real.
Free to be the person God designed you to be.

What a great Sunday we had this week! Two Sunday School classes of our Senior members of Covington First UMC lived out our vision statement of “ensuring that the next generation has a relationship with Jesus Christ” by generously providing a dedicated space for our children! Our Agape and Christian Fellowship Sunday School Classes combined as one new class this past Sunday, Oct 18, 2026, now the Agape Christian Fellowship Class, to allow our Kidmin program to have a designated space for our children to grow in their faith and learn about Jesus.

The new Sunday School space and corridor outside the room at 201A is a blended space of both classrooms and holds memories and treasures of their rich history and leadership here at Covington First UMC. As two of our most seasoned classes, the men and women from both of these classes have held leadership roles, taught, done mission work, sacrificed, supported and lived out their dedication to Jesus Christ, providing an example to all of us.

Through their wisdom and love for our children, their families and our church, they know how important it is to ensure that our children have a dedicated space here at Covington First.

This past Sunday, the children expressed their appreciation by presenting pictures and notes along with hugs and smiles to our newly formed Agape Christian Fellowship Class. Pictured are some of our children, Katie Sauls, our Kidmin Director, and Kidmin Staff visiting their Sunday School Class today with cards and thank yous for the gracious and appreciated sacrifice they made just for the children.

On Sunday, November 1, All Saints Sunday, there will be a special blessing of the new Agape Christian Fellowship class and a time of remembrance of all those saints from these two classes that have led and served these classes in years gone by. On this day also, the newly renovated Kidmin Ministry Classroom will be revealed with a gathering of Kidmin families, church leadership, and special guest members, the Agape Christian Fellowship Class to pray for our church family from the youngest to our seniors and to pray that these young children will grow in their faith journey and their relationship Jesus Christ and with each other.

We are forever grateful and blessed here at Covington First UMC for a church family that loves, supports one another, and walks through life together as we live out our pledge to “surround these persons with a community of love and forgiveness, that they may grow in their trust of God, and be found faithful in their service to others” (Baptismal Service I). We are grateful for those who continue to lead their example of being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.

It’s a beautiful fall day so come grab some pumpkins this afternoon before they are gone! Perfect day for pictures too. The Pumpkin Patch is open until 7:00pm.

Sunday can sometimes feel like the day we clean ourselves up, put on our best face, and try to look like we've got it all together.

Don't believe that lie.

We're all carrying something. We're all healing from something. We're all in need of grace.

You don't have to pretend today.

Come as you are. Be honest. Be free.

Curious about foster care but not sure where to begin? Our monthly virtual info sessions are a simple, welcoming way to learn more about foster care and how Uniting Hope walks alongside families every step of the way.

Hosted on Zoom, these sessions offer an overview of foster care in Georgia, what it means to partner with Uniting Hope, and the support available to families who feel called to open their homes. You’ll hear from our team, learn what the licensing process looks like, and have the opportunity to ask questions in a relaxed, no-pressure setting.

The Pumpkin Patch got more pumpkins in today! The patch was full of shoppers and families playing games! Thank you to some of our amazing youth who came and helped unload!
