Saint Lawrence is one of the three holy deacons venerated since ancient times. His name is included in the Roman Canon, a sign of the profound devotion and reverence accorded to him since the earliest centuries of Christianity. Spanish by birth, he became Roman by faith and by the witness of his martyrdom.

Inflamed with love for God, the holy martyr Saint Lawrence presented to the imperial household the poor as the true treasure of the Church.
