The Official Camp Abbey Page

The Official Camp Abbey Page Camp Abbey touched many lives from 1960 -2006 and is back and renewed! Joseph Abbey in cooperation with the Knights of Columbus.

Camp Abbey Retreat Center is a ministry of the CYO/Youth & Young Adult Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Camp Abbey was originally a Catholic summer camp for children sponsored by the Benedictine community of St. The facility was also used during the academic year for parish and high school youth retreats. After operating from 1960-2006, the camp was closed. In 2010, the Archdioce

se of New Orleans leased the property from St. Joseph Abbey and undertook at $4.1 million renovation of the entire camp, making it again worthy for use as a place where young people can develop their relationship with Jesus Christ, each other, and the Church, through retreats and a summer camp program.
