Did you know that Easter lasts not one day, but fifty? At Good Shepherd, we are just getting started with our Easter celebration! Eastertide is the name for the period of time from Easter Day to the Feast of Pentecost, a time also known as the Great Fifty Days. During Eastertide, our Paschal candle keeps burning, we keep singing Easter hymns, and we keep enjoying the beauty and glory of the Resurrection. Come celebrate Christ’s love with us on Sundays at 10:30!

All are welcome!

White on the altar? Flowers? In the depths of Lent?? Has Mother Mary Grace lost it completely? Nope! Even in Lent, we wear white for the feast of St. Joseph, beloved foster father of our Lord, protector of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and model of faithful devotion to all God’s people.

A joyous Rose Sunday to all! For the first time, Good Shepherd now has a set of rose vestments, thanks to the generosity of Mtr. Melanie Rowell and Church of Our Saviour. Did you know that rose-colored vestments are traditionally worn on the 4th Sunday of Lent and the 3rd Sunday of Advent? These are times when we “lighten” our fasting purple and give ourselves a “sneak peek” of the rejoicing ahead. Because vestment designer and fabric artist Holly Starling is constructing a new rose set for Our Saviour, Good Shepherd was the lucky recipient of this gorgeous set. Thank you to our friends at Our Saviour — we are tickled pink!

Link to the Presiding Bishop’s letter in the comments. The Episcopal Church has also adopted as established teaching that “first-use” military action is always unacceptable, and must be opposed by both lay and ordained members in “parish study and public witness.” (2009-A042)

“Grant us true repentance and the Holy Spirit, that those things may please him which we do on this day, and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy, so that at the last we may come to his eternal joy.”
