Comboni Missionaries - Covina Mission Center Today the Comboni Missionaries serve on five continents.

We are a world-wide group of more than 4,000 missionary priests, brothers, sisters, and laity from diverse cultures who have dedicated our lives to following Christ. We first worked in Europe and Africa, moving to North and South America in the 1930s, and expanding into Asia in the 1980s. Our international membership provides us with unique perspectives of the global community in which we work. Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Walking with Saint Daniel Comboni.
Matthew 22:34–40

“Love Is the Heart of Our Faith”.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches us the two greatest commandments: to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

These commandments are the foundation of our Christian life.

Everything we do, every prayer we offer, and every act of service should flow from love.

But loving God is not only about praying or attending Mass.

It is about allowing His love to transform our hearts so that we can recognize His presence in others, especially in those who are suffering, forgotten, or in need of compassion.

MEDITATION:

Saint Daniel Comboni understood this deeply.

His missionary life was a response to his love for God and his commitment to serving the most abandoned.

He gave himself wholeheartedly to the mission, trusting that God’s love could transform lives and renew hope.

Today, Jesus invites us to examine our hearts.

Do we love only when it is easy, or can we also love when we are misunderstood, challenged, or hurt?

True love requires patience, humility, forgiveness, and a willingness to serve without expecting anything in return.

REFLECTION:

As we walk with Saint Daniel Comboni, let us remember that holiness begins with love expressed in our daily lives.

We do not need to accomplish extraordinary things to please God; we need to love faithfully in the ordinary moments of each day.

If love for God is the center of my life, how does that love become visible in the way I treat others?

Let us ask the Lord for a heart that loves without conditions, forgives without resentment, and serves with joy.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, teach me to love You with all my heart, soul, and mind.

Help me recognize Your presence in every person I encounter, especially those who are difficult to love.

Through the example of Saint Daniel Comboni, give me a generous and missionary heart, willing to serve with humility, compassion, and perseverance.

May my words bring encouragement, my actions reflect Your goodness, and my life become a testimony of Your love.

May everything I do begin and end in You.

Saint Daniel Comboni, pray for us, that we may make Christ known and loved through our lives.

### Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
Caminando de la mano de San Daniel Comboni.
(Mateo 22, 34-40)

“Amar a Dios y al prójimo”.

En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos revela el corazón de toda la vida cristiana: amar a Dios con todo nuestro corazón, con toda nuestra alma y con toda nuestra mente, y amar al prójimo como a nosotros mismos.

Estos dos mandamientos son inseparables, porque nuestro amor a Dios se hace visible en la manera en que amamos, servimos y tratamos a los demás.

*MEDITACIÓN:*

*San Daniel Comboni* comprendió profundamente esta verdad.

Su amor por Dios lo llevó a entregar su vida por la misión, especialmente por los pueblos de África.

No se conformó con hablar del amor de Cristo; lo convirtió en servicio, entrega y esperanza para quienes más lo necesitaban.

Hoy, Jesús nos invita a preguntarnos: ¿Mi amor a Dios se refleja en mis palabras, en mis decisiones y en la forma en que trato a quienes me rodean? Amar no siempre significa hacer grandes cosas.

A veces, el amor se manifiesta en escuchar con paciencia, perdonar una ofensa, acompañar a quien sufre o servir sin esperar nada a cambio.

*REFLEXIÓN:*

Caminando de la mano de *San Daniel Comboni*, recordemos que nuestra misión comienza en el corazón.

No podemos decir que amamos a Dios si cerramos el corazón al hermano que necesita comprensión, respeto o misericordia.
Pidamos al Señor la gracia de vivir una fe que se transforme en obras, una oración que nos acerque a los demás y un amor que no dependa de recibir algo a cambio.

Amar a Dios y amar al prójimo es el camino que convierte nuestra vida en una verdadera misión.

*ORACION:*

Señor Jesús, enséñame a amarte con todo mi corazón y a descubrir tu presencia en cada hermano.

Que, siguiendo el ejemplo de *San Daniel Comboni*, mi fe se convierta en servicio, mis palabras transmitan bondad y mis acciones sean reflejo de tu amor.

Dame un corazón generoso para perdonar, humilde para servir y perseverante para amar, incluso cuando resulte difícil.

Que nunca olvide que cada persona que pones en mi camino es una oportunidad para amarte a Ti.

Sábado de la XXIX semana del Tiempo Ordinario
Caminando de la mano de San Daniel Comboni.
(Lucas 13, 1-9)

“Dios nos concede una nueva oportunidad”.

En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos invita a la conversión y nos recuerda, por medio de la parábola de la higuera estéril, que Dios es paciente y misericordioso.

El dueño de la viña quiere cortar la higuera que no da fruto, pero el viñador le pide una oportunidad más: la cuidará, removerá la tierra y la abonará, esperando que finalmente produzca frutos.

¡Qué hermosa imagen del amor de Dios por nosotros! Muchas veces, nuestra vida espiritual se vuelve estéril por las preocupaciones, el orgullo, la falta de oración o la indiferencia ante las necesidades de los demás.

Sin embargo, Dios no se cansa de llamarnos.

Nos ofrece su gracia, nos ayuda a levantarnos y nos da tiempo para transformar nuestro corazón.

*MEDITACIÓN:*

*San Daniel Comboni* comprendió que la misión exige un corazón dispuesto a entregarse, incluso en medio de las dificultades.

Su vida nos enseña que los frutos del Evangelio nacen de la confianza en Dios, de la perseverancia y del amor puesto al servicio de los demás.

Hoy, el Señor no nos pregunta cuántas cosas hemos logrado, sino qué frutos estamos dando.

¿Estamos sembrando esperanza, perdón, generosidad y fe? Cada día es una nueva oportunidad para responder a su amor.

*REFLEXIÓN:*

¿Qué frutos espera Dios de mí?
La paciencia de Dios es un regalo, pero también una invitación a cambiar.

No podemos dejar para mañana el amor que podemos ofrecer hoy, el perdón que necesitamos dar o el servicio que podemos realizar.

Caminando de la mano de *San Daniel Comboni*, pidamos la gracia de ser como esa higuera que, después de recibir cuidados, comienza a dar frutos abundantes.

Hoy puedo comenzar de nuevo.

No importa cuántas veces haya fallado; lo importante es dejar que Dios trabaje en mi corazón y responder con generosidad a su llamada.

*ORACION:*

Señor Jesús, gracias por tu infinita paciencia y por no cansarte de darme nuevas oportunidades.

Remueve la tierra de mi corazón, arranca aquello que me aleja de Ti y ayúdame a crecer en la fe, la humildad y el amor.

Por intercesión de *San Daniel Comboni*, dame un corazón misionero, capaz de servir sin esperar recompensa, de perseverar en las dificultades y de llevar esperanza a quienes más lo necesitan.

Que mi vida no sea una higuera estéril, sino un árbol que produzca frutos de bondad, misericordia y entrega.

Que cada día pueda responder a tu amor con obras concretas y ser instrumento de tu presencia para los demás.

Friday of the Twenty-Ninth Week in Ordinary Time
Walking with Saint Daniel Comboni
Gospel: Luke 12:54–59

“Recognizing the Signs of God”.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to recognize the signs of the times and to understand what God is asking of us.

We are often attentive to the things happening around us, yet we may overlook what is happening within our hearts.

We can recognize changes in the world, but do we recognize the moments when God calls us to conversion, forgiveness, and a deeper relationship with Him?

Jesus also reminds us of the importance of reconciliation.

We should not postpone making peace, healing relationships, or correcting our mistakes.

Every day is an opportunity to return to God with a humble and sincere heart.

MEDITATION:

Saint Daniel Comboni understood how to read the signs of his time through the eyes of faith.

Faced with challenges in his missionary work, he trusted in Divine Providence and remained faithful to his calling.

His example teaches us to recognize God’s presence even in difficult circumstances and to respond generously to His invitations.

REFLECTION:

What Is God Asking of Me Today?
As missionary disciples, we are called to remain spiritually awake, attentive to the needs of others, and willing to change whatever keeps us from loving as Christ loves.

Sometimes God speaks through the people we encounter, the challenges we face, or the situations that invite us to practice patience and humility.

The question is not simply whether we recognize these signs, but whether we are willing to respond.

Following Saint Daniel Comboni, let us ask for the grace to see every difficulty as an opportunity to grow in faith and every encounter as a chance to bring Christ’s love to others.

Today, let us ask ourselves: Is there someone I need to forgive, a relationship I need to heal, or a change God is inviting me to make?

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, open my eyes to recognize Your presence and Your voice in my daily life.

Give me a humble heart that is willing to change, the courage to seek reconciliation, and the wisdom to respond to Your call without delay.

Through the intercession of Saint Daniel Comboni, strengthen my missionary spirit.

Help me remain faithful in moments of uncertainty, trust in Your Divine Providence, and bring Your love and peace to everyone I encounter.

May I never ignore the signs of Your grace, but always be ready to follow where You lead me.

Viernes de la XXIX semana del Tiempo Ordinario
Caminando de la mano de San Daniel Comboni.
Lucas 12, 54-59

“Aprender a reconocer los signos de Dios”.

Jesús nos invita hoy a reconocer los signos de los tiempos y a descubrir lo que Dios quiere comunicarnos en medio de nuestra vida.

Muchas veces sabemos interpretar lo que sucede a nuestro alrededor, pero nos cuesta detenernos para escuchar la voz del Señor y comprender qué nos está pidiendo.

La fe no consiste solamente en conocer la Palabra de Dios, sino en permitir que transforme nuestro corazón y nuestras decisiones.

Jesús también nos exhorta a reconciliarnos mientras estamos a tiempo, a no dejar que el orgullo, los resentimientos o las diferencias nos alejen de los demás.

*MEDITACIÓN:*

*San Daniel Comboni* supo reconocer los signos de Dios en las necesidades de los pueblos africanos.

Confiando en la Providencia, respondió con generosidad a su llamado misionero.

Su ejemplo nos recuerda que reconocer la voluntad de Dios exige valentía, humildad y disposición para actuar.

Hoy, el Señor nos invita a abrir los ojos del corazón, examinar nuestra vida y preguntarnos: ¿Estoy respondiendo a lo que Dios me pide o estoy dejando pasar las oportunidades de amar, servir y reconciliarme?

*REFLEXIÓN:*

A veces esperamos grandes señales para descubrir la voluntad de Dios, cuando Él nos habla a través de acontecimientos cotidianos, de las personas que encontramos y de las necesidades de quienes nos rodean.

No dejemos para mañana el perdón que podemos ofrecer hoy, la palabra amable que puede sanar una herida o el servicio que puede aliviar el sufrimiento de alguien.

Caminando de la mano de *San Daniel Comboni*, aprendamos a reconocer la presencia de Dios y a responder con un corazón dispuesto.

La conversión comienza cuando dejamos de esperar que los demás cambien y permitimos que Dios transforme primero nuestra propia vida.

*ORACION:*

Señor Jesús, abre mis ojos para reconocer tu presencia y comprender los signos que me muestras cada día.

Dame sabiduría para discernir tu voluntad, humildad para reconocer mis errores y valentía para reconciliarme con quienes me rodean.

No permitas que el orgullo, el temor o la indiferencia me impidan responder a tu llamado.

Como *San Daniel Comboni*, quiero confiar en tu Providencia y poner mis dones al servicio de tu Reino.

Thursday of the Twenty-Ninth Week in Ordinary Time
Walking with Saint Daniel Comboni.
Gospel: Luke 12:49–53

“The Fire of Christ That Transforms Our Hearts”.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus says, “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing”.

The fire Jesus speaks of is the fire of God’s love, a love that purifies our hearts, awakens our faith, and calls us to live according to the truth of the Gospel.

Following Christ is not always easy.

His teachings challenge our comfort, our selfishness, and even our relationships when our choices to live according to the Gospel are misunderstood by others.

Jesus does not invite us to create conflict, but to remain faithful to the truth and to choose God above everything else.

MEDITATION:

Saint Daniel Comboni understood this fire of divine love.

His heart burned with passion for Christ and for the salvation of all people, especially those who were suffering and forgotten.

Despite obstacles, misunderstandings, and sacrifices, he remained committed to his mission because he trusted in God's grace.

Today, we are invited to allow Christ to kindle that same fire within us: a fire that gives us courage to serve, humility to forgive, and strength to remain faithful even when following Jesus requires difficult decisions.

REFLECTION:

Is the Fire of Christ Burning Within Me?
Is my faith alive, or have I allowed routine and fear to weaken my love for God?
Am I willing to stand for the Gospel with love and courage, even when others do not understand me?
How can I bring Christ’s peace, truth, and compassion into my family, community, and mission?

Walking with Saint Daniel Comboni reminds us that a heart set on fire by Christ cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of others.

True discipleship calls us to love deeply, serve generously, and remain faithful to God even through trials.

PRAYER:

Lord, Set My Heart on Fire
Lord Jesus,
set my heart on fire with Your divine love.

Remove everything that keeps me distant from You, and give me the courage to follow Your truth even when the path is difficult.

Through the intercession of Saint Daniel Comboni, help me become a faithful missionary of Your love.

Teach me to serve without seeking recognition, to forgive without conditions, and to remain steadfast when I face misunderstanding or adversity.

May Your fire purify my intentions, strengthen my faith, and inspire me to bring hope to those who need You most.

Let my words and actions reflect Your love and become a living testimony of the Gospel.

Saint Daniel Comboni, pray for us, that our hearts may burn with love for Christ and His mission.

Jueves de la XXIX semana del Tiempo Ordinario
Caminando de la mano de San Daniel Comboni.
(Lucas 12, 49-53)

“El fuego del amor de Dios”.

En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos dice: «He venido a traer fuego a la tierra, ¡y cuánto desearía que ya estuviera ardiendo!»

Este fuego representa el amor de Dios, un amor vivo que transforma nuestros corazones, ilumina nuestras decisiones y nos impulsa a vivir con mayor fidelidad nuestra fe.

Sin embargo, seguir a Jesús no siempre es fácil.

Su Palabra nos invita a cambiar, a dejar atrás aquello que nos aleja de Dios y a elegir la verdad, incluso cuando nuestras decisiones no sean comprendidas por los demás.

Jesús también nos advierte que su mensaje puede provocar divisiones, incluso dentro de las familias.

No significa que debamos buscar conflictos, sino que permanecer fieles al Evangelio puede exigirnos tomar decisiones difíciles, aun cuando otras personas no estén de acuerdo con nosotros.

*MEDITACIÓN:*

*San Daniel Comboni* comprendió que el amor a Cristo debía arder en su corazón para entregarse completamente a la misión.

Su vida nos enseña que, cuando Dios ocupa el primer lugar, encontramos la fuerza para perseverar, amar y servir, incluso en medio de las dificultades.

*REFLEXIÓN:*

¿Arde en mí el fuego de Cristo?
Hoy estamos invitados a preguntarnos: ¿está vivo el fuego del amor de Dios en mi corazón? ¿Permito que su Palabra transforme mis actitudes, mis palabras y mis decisiones?
A veces, ser fieles a Jesús significa mantenernos firmes en nuestras convicciones, actuar con rectitud y aceptar que no todos comprenderán nuestro camino.

Pero la fidelidad al Evangelio nunca debe convertirse en orgullo, imposición o falta de caridad.

Pidamos la gracia de defender nuestra fe con humildad, amar sin condiciones y buscar siempre la paz, sin renunciar a la verdad.
Como *San Daniel Comboni*, hagamos de nuestra vida una llama encendida por Cristo, capaz de llevar esperanza a quienes más la necesitan.

*ORACION:*

Señor Jesús, enciende en mi corazón el fuego de tu amor.

Que tu Espíritu Santo transforme todo aquello que me impide vivir plenamente tu Evangelio.

Dame fortaleza para permanecer fiel a tu Palabra, aun cuando el camino sea difícil o mis decisiones no sean comprendidas.

Enséñame a defender la verdad con humildad, a responder con amor y a no permitir que las diferencias apaguen la caridad en mi corazón.

Wednesday of the Twenty-Ninth Week in Ordinary Time
Walking with Saint Daniel Comboni.
Gospel: Luke 12:39–48

“Faithful and Ready for the Lord”.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to remain watchful and faithful, for we do not know the hour when the Lord will come.

He reminds us that those who have received much will be expected to give much in return.

Our faith is not simply something we profess with words; it is a gift we are called to live through love, service, and responsibility.

MEDITATION:

Walking with Saint Daniel Comboni, we discover the meaning of faithful service.

He gave his life generously to the mission, trusting in God even when the road was difficult.

His example reminds us that everything we receive, our gifts, our time, our talents, and our opportunities to serve, is entrusted to us by God.

The Lord does not ask us to live in fear, but to live with hearts prepared to welcome Him.

Every act of kindness, every responsibility fulfilled with love, and every moment of service becomes an opportunity to demonstrate our faithfulness.

REFLECTION:

Am I Being Faithful to What God Has Entrusted to Me?
Today, let us ask ourselves: Am I using the gifts God has given me to serve others? Am I faithful in the little things, even when no one sees or recognizes my efforts?

Sometimes, we may become discouraged when our service is misunderstood or when we do not see immediate results.

Saint Daniel Comboni teaches us to persevere with trust, remembering that the mission belongs to God.

Being ready for the Lord means living each day with a generous heart, fulfilling our responsibilities with love, and allowing God to guide our decisions.

We do not need to accomplish extraordinary things; we need to be faithful in the ordinary moments of our lives.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gifts and responsibilities You have entrusted to me.

Give me a watchful heart, a generous spirit, and the wisdom to serve You faithfully each day.

Through the intercession of Saint Daniel Comboni, help me persevere in my mission, especially during moments of difficulty or discouragement.

Teach me to serve without seeking recognition, to love without expecting anything in return, and to remain faithful to Your will.

May I always be ready to welcome You, not with fear, but with a heart filled with love and trust.

Miércoles de la XXIX semana del Tiempo Ordinario
Caminando de la mano de San Daniel Comboni.
(Lucas 12, 39-48)

“Vivir preparados para el encuentro con el Señor”.

Jesús nos invita hoy a vivir despiertos y preparados, porque no sabemos cuándo llegará el Señor.

Esta preparación no consiste en vivir con miedo, sino en mantener el corazón atento a su presencia y ser fieles a la misión que Él nos ha confiado.

En el Evangelio, Jesús nos recuerda que a quien mucho se le ha dado, mucho se le exigirá.

Cada don recibido, nuestro tiempo, nuestros talentos, nuestras responsabilidades y nuestra capacidad de amar,
es una oportunidad para servir y hacer presente el Reino de Dios.

*MEDITACIÓN:*

*San Daniel Comboni* comprendió profundamente esta llamada. Entregó su vida a la misión, confiando en que Dios podía realizar grandes cosas a través de su entrega.

Su ejemplo nos recuerda que la santidad se construye cada día, mediante la fidelidad en las pequeñas cosas y el amor concreto hacia nuestros hermanos.

*REFLEXIÓN:*

¿Cómo estoy administrando los dones de Dios?
Hoy podemos preguntarnos: ¿Estoy utilizando los dones que Dios me ha dado para servir o solamente para mi propio beneficio? ¿Soy fiel a mis responsabilidades incluso cuando nadie me ve? ¿Estoy preparada para encontrarme con el Señor en las personas que necesitan mi amor, mi paciencia y mi comprensión?

Estar preparados significa vivir cada día con conciencia, humildad y responsabilidad.

No se trata de hacerlo todo perfectamente, sino de procurar que nuestras decisiones reflejen el amor de Cristo.

Siguiendo las huellas de *San Daniel Comboni*, recordemos que nuestra vida es una misión.

No esperemos una ocasión extraordinaria para amar y servir; comencemos hoy, allí donde Dios nos ha colocado.

*ORACION:*

Señor Jesús, despierta mi corazón para que nunca me acostumbre a vivir lejos de Ti.

Enséñame a reconocer los dones que me has confiado y a utilizarlos con amor, responsabilidad y generosidad.

Dame la fidelidad para cumplir mi misión aun cuando encuentre dificultades, la humildad para reconocer mis errores y la sabiduría para comprender que todo lo que he recibido es un regalo de tu bondad.

Gospel: Luke 12:35–38

“Keep Your Hearts Ready”.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to remain ready and attentive, like servants waiting for their master to return.

He calls us to keep our lamps burning and our hearts prepared, living each day with faith, love, and hope.

Being ready does not mean living in fear; it means living with a heart open to God, recognizing His presence in our daily lives and responding generously to His call.

MEDITATION:

Saint Daniel Comboni understood the importance of being ready to serve God at every moment.

His missionary life was a constant response to the Lord, even when the journey was difficult.

His trust in Divine Providence helped him persevere in his mission with courage and love.

REFLECTION:

Am I keeping the lamp of my faith burning through prayer, service, and love for others? Sometimes we become distracted by our responsibilities, worries, and personal plans, forgetting that God invites us to encounter Him in the present moment.

Walking with Saint Daniel Comboni, we are reminded that every day offers a new opportunity to serve, forgive, encourage, and love.

We do not need to wait for the perfect moment to do God's will.

We can begin today, with a willing heart and a spirit ready to respond.

Let us remain watchful, faithful, and ready to welcome the Lord into every part of our lives.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, prepare my heart to recognize Your presence and respond faithfully to Your call.

Keep the lamp of my faith burning, especially during moments of uncertainty and difficulty.

Through the intercession of Saint Daniel Comboni, grant me a generous heart, missionary courage, and the willingness to serve others with love. Help me remain attentive to Your voice and faithful in the small things of everyday life.

May I always be ready to welcome You, not only at the end of my journey, but in every person I meet and every opportunity You place before me.
